Chapter 16A: something hidden...something deeper..

Arjun sensed it and continued "Aisha ek gaddhe pe girr gayi aur main use bachaane keliye gaya toh main bhi..."

Rathod couldn't control his laugh..."so finally dono girr gaye...accha jaao aur Shree se first aid karwaalo"

Saying that Rathod walked out leaving his ever fighting officers behind...

Though their story of a jog, morning walk and the fall seemed a little too much to digest, neither the ETF chief nor the rest of the ETF team would ever be able to guess what transpired between Arjun and Aisha the previous night just because, they themselves were behaving oblivious to the truth or perhaps acting oblivious...but till when??

Shree had just done first aid to Arjun and was waiting for him to go out of the room to enquire the matter to Aisha...

"raat barr kahaan thi Aisha?"

Shree's unexpected question almost threw her off the seat...and her expressions looked as if caught off guard...

Few minutes earlier, Shree had witnessed the uneasiness between Arjun and Aisha and also noticed that it weren't just the usual fumes and cold war that they shared before...it appeared much more than that...something unusual and he was witnessing it for the first time!

Shree felt as if Arjun sir wanted to speak to Aisha while Aisha was ignoring and avoiding meeting his eyes...She stood at the far end of the room while Shree did the first aid to Arjun...

She only came closer when Arjun left the room...[Shree had come to her room sometime during the midnight as he wanted some medicine for his cough from her...but she wasn't in her room and he noticed Arjun sir's room empty too and door was left open too...

He had wondered where the duo had disappeared but he was quite sure that they would be safe together even if it meant some fight, he knew Arjun sir would definitely protect and safeguard Aisha!! ]

Shree snapped his fingers near Aisha's eyes to bring her out of her trance..."kya hua?? Maine poocha raat barr kahaan thi??"

Aisha: woh aise hi...

Shree: Arjun sir bhi tumaari saat teh na?

Aisha knew that Shree was getting close to what she wished to keep a secret...She snapped him short and replied "tum kya kya sochthe rehte ho Shree...main aur Arjun sir ek saat...nahi nahi..."

Shree: tum itni hyper kyun ho rahi ho?? I know what would have happened...Unne tumaari mission ke bare mein sab patha chal chukha hai...aur tumhe samjhaathe samjhaathe ladaayi hogayi na??

Aisha didn't say yes or no...she just enquired "unne mission ke baare mein kaise patha chala?? Did you tell him?"

Shree replied," woh Arjun sir hai...koyi baat unnse zyaadha din tak chupaa nahi rehta...this was no exception"

Aisha shrugged it off "whatever! Koyi jaane ya na jaane main iss mission se peeche nahi hattne waali..."

Shree: Why don't you understand Aisha?? Iss mission mein bohat risk hai...tum akeli nahi kar paavogi...Agar Arjun sir saat denge toh sab successful hoga...

Aisha: i don't need anyone's help Shree...main aise undercover missions pe pehli bhi kaam kar chukhi hoom...and let me make it clear to you...I don't want Arjun sir in this mission!

Shree: par kyun?? Tum hi kehthi thi na...professional aur personal dono ko alag rakhna chahiye...tumaare aur Arjun sir ke beech personally negative vibes hai...par usse kaam ke beech matth laavo yaar...for god's sake, don't do this!

Aisha: its not that Shree...

Shree: then what is it?? Tum hi samjhaavo mujhe...

Aisha decides to let out atleast a bit of her mind to Shree...she couldn't hold it...well someone know it...she took a deep breath and started...

"Shree, iss mission Sikandar keliye hai...yeh baat toh tum jaan gaye ho na?"

Shree : haan...Arjun sir bhi jaanthe hai...in fact unnone hi rightly guess kiya tha!

Aisha mentally appreciates him for his perfect intuitions..."hmmm, i knew he would find out...but his over enthusiasm worries me Shree...maine Sikandar pe bohat groundwork kiya hai...Aur jaanthe ho kisne usse pakadhne ke bohat kareeb tak gaya tha..[Shree looks at her enquiringly] Arjun sir ne...but in that mission he lost his wife...Roshni ji sirf unnke wife hi nahi unnke life ki hi roshni thi...aur unnke jaane se, Arjun sir ki life hi chali gayi...par phir bhi Sikandar isn't done with his anger for Arjun sir...ab agar ek aur baar unn dono ka takkhar hua toh...[her words trailed off]...no Shree, Sikandar bohat dangerous hai...Arjun sir ke life ko bhi khatra ho saktha hai...I cant allow that! I just cant!

Shree could sense more than just a concern for a senior officer or even a friend in her voice...and it also shocked him that Aisha knew so much about Arjun's life...and as far as Shree knew, they weren't even friends...Aisha's concern forArjun sir confused him like hell...he slowly patted Aisha who seemed to be lost in her own words and the questions it raised in her own mind...What was she saying? Why was he so important to her?

Shree slowly spoke up "Aisha,tum Arjun sir ke baare mein itna kaise jaanthi ho?? tum kahi Arjun sir se pyar..."

Aisha snapped him short "Stop it Shree..."

She didn't continue any further...she just walked out of the room...though she snapped him, she herself was confused and Shree's question had hit her mind as well...why was she concerned about him and his life?...but she didn't want to find answers to those questions...few questions were best left unanswered!

Aisha left the room but that last conversation wasn't just between the two...someone else also heard it...

A few minutes earlier...Arjun had just reached his room when he remembered that he had to take an injection against the possible infections...So he went back and thats when he heard them speak about him and stood there...it wasn't intentional but he had an urge to know what Aisha was speaking about him...

In her intense words about the mission, Sikandar, Roshni and himself, he found something different...and then Shree's question and how she had snapped him told him something new...a different facet of Aisha unfolded before him!

Did she really have such feelings for him? His heart only said Yes, she did...then his mind also murmered the same to him..."Of course she does"...else how could she give away herself to him...how could he even think that she had done that just because of an impulsive desire or attraction? He smacked himself for having thought so...perhaps thats why she didn't allow him to read her eyes...perhaps it would have reflected her true feelings for him...How did he not realize it the previous night?? Why didn't he look beyond the obvious of her?

He scolded himself for having done that to her... had he played with her feelings unknowingly...Had he taken advantage of her vulnerable state for his own desires? Was she just his desire or something more? He was totally confused...May be he should have pulled back...well he knew, there was no means to return to where it all started...and undo whatever happened...

He could only take corrective steps to set this mistake right and steer it towards the right direction!

He had to talk to her soon...

He walked into Shree's room...

"Shree, ek anti-tetanus lagaa dena..."

Shree nodded and loaded the syringe...

Once that was done, Arjun voiced out..."Aisha ko bhi lagaa dho...bhoolna matth"

Shree smiled..."yes sir.."

Shree had smiled because in just a matter of few minutes, he had seen the ever fighting jungili billi and the sher khan of ETF showing concern for each other...and he didn't know why, he felt good knowing that!
