SaharaOne has a 'Kohinoor' up its sleeve! | |||
| This one's being kept tightly under wraps, but we now know that SaharaOne's latest venture, due for launch in September, is an action packed suspense thriller, Kohinoor, produced by Cinevistaas.
The show starring Amit Sadh and Ankur Nayyar will be a daily to be aired from 5 September. Amit, who will soon be seen in Sony's Dulhan, and has previously played a don, Barthez in Star One's weekly, Guns n Roses, will be seen as a rough and tough guy in the new Sahara show. "I have signed a no disclosure agreement so I can't tell you anything about that show, but it will soon be announced," says Amit. A little bird tells us that for as single episode of this action packed show, there were as many as 14 location shoots. "Yes, we are doing the show. And all I can say is that it is drastically different," says creative head, Cinevistaas, Siddharth Malhotra, who is reluctant to reveal anything more. Intrestingly, the channel has got the actors and the production house to sign a NDA (non-disclosure agreement) and thus the people concerned are tightlipped about the actual content of the show. Ankur Nayyar, who just quit Zee's Reth will play a character in the show and seems quite excited about it. "It's a first of its kind on Indian television. It is a thriller that deals with facts and there is a lot of chasing around," laughs Ankur.
With Kohinoor, a primetime action daily, Sahara seems to be trying something the channel has never experimented with before. The channel, which has recently launched light hearted emotional roller coasters with Woh Rehne…and Hare Kaanch Ki Chudiya, seems to be making inroads into a genre that as a format has not been widely experimented on Indian television. After the launch of a slew of family dramas, game shows and reality television--Dial One aur Jeeto on SaharaOne, Games Bond and Super Sale on Star One, and family entertainers like Shanno Ki Shaadi and Ba Bahu aur Baby and Kashish, and Sony's Fame Gurukul and Zee's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge, this is one suspense thriller that will be much awaited. Time Bomb on Zee, seems to be its only competition in the prime time. |
