It is great that Radha's profile is emerging slowly.
I felt that that's still not reason for me to jump to her defense yet. Before anyone takes offense, this is just another view and am not claiming it to be the absolute truth!
Radha due to various events in her life and due to choices she has made, has only made her own life difficult.
The more she has tried to be a trailblazer from her community, the more bizarre the way she has ended things. Somehow she has not been able to see her trailblazing efforts it through because she has managed to nullify them.
1. She managed to join a college or university perhaps being the first woman from her community but she fell in love with a man which by itself itself is no crime, but she did go one step further and had premarital sex (notwithstanding SP being married or not). The result was to end up being pregnant and her reputation in tatters.
2. She braved society and SP's dictat to abort the baby, but instead of bringing up her baby in a best way possible, she decided to commit a crime, in a moral (and perhaps legal) sense and switched the babies thereby wronging two innocent people in the bargain
3. She started the crusade to fight for Akash's rights and get him settled into his rightful place, but the moment, SP denied everything, we have not heard a peep from her on anything other than sad expressions and literally abandoning her noble goal and getting involved in matters like preparing lep and advising how SP should be handled.
In short, her actions though start in an idealistic and 'noble' fashion, do not end up idealistic, ideal or noble at all. Have her parents pushed her to set high standards only to realize that she really cannot live up to them? Had they set her up for failure?
Next, her self-recrimination was very revealing to me.
It showed how much she had suffered and had deviated from the path of a 'normal' woman as a result of her choices and society's cruel standards, which was not necessarily unknown to her.
Two things stood out starkly
1. She was upset that she had made it difficult for her son and daughter-in-law. We can safely assume that she meant Yash and Aarti. It only showed that she had completely dissociated herself physically and mentally from Akash, that though she was hurt by Akash words, he really didn't figure in her self-analysis
2. Jarooratein - From how many mouths, have we heard it since the start of the PV? It surprised me when Radha talked about it as well - it showed that how her womanly needs had been suppressed ever since she gave birth to Yash.
3. Most importantly, What really surprised me was her lack of indignation at all the accusations. She could have, should have been very very very angry. Because the truth is that she did no wrong. So, my suspicions point to her actually having the very desires. The vision of waking up next to SP must have been an aspirational dream for a long time. But those desires that were hidden for so long somewhere in her heart got exposed too soon and too publicly and in a humiliating manner. Her sadness is that for a second time, her dreams, which she had just begun to harbor again after G3's passing, got shattered. Hence, the decision to kill herself. It was not the harsh words per se, but something that was her need for so many decades got such a humiliating ending.
We have always felt that Radha aspired for a life of a normal married woman, but did she aspire for a life of a rich normal married woman? I still suspect that her aspirations are much higher than what one might expect of a person from her station (Can I sound any more judgmental and prejudiced?). 😲 😆
But this is just a perspective from what I have seen so far on the episode. Take it or leave it. 😆
