Since the show is drawing to a close, it is balance sheet time And a balance sheet, as its very name indicates, highlights both assets and liabilities.
I have been even handed with praise and complaints so far. Given credit where it is due and voiced my protests on things that have not appealed to me loudly enough.
However, I have never said or focused much on two characters that have silently contributed to the show.
Ranga and Anjie will remain the most underutilized characters in the history of KTLK. At least, Anjie did have a significant role to start with. The same cannot be said about poor Ranga, who was pretty much reduced to being some kind of a jester!
There were two occasions when these characters were given meaty tracks. One was the ghar jamai issue and then the infertility issue. Both occasions, the actors playing the characters did absolute justice to their parts.
One of the fundamental rules of good soap opera making involves the fleshing out of supplementary tracks and characters. An area where this show's makers have proved an abysmal failure.
While speaking of my favouite moments of the show, I forgot to add that absolutely lovely dining table conversation between Ranga and Anjie and then again, their shared pain over a lost child. Wonderfui moments that clearly indicated that here were two talented actors who were simply not being given their due by the show.
Just wanted to take this opportunity to applaud the efforts of Vishal Malhotra and Ishitha for putting their hearts into their characters. You may not have been seen enough on screen but you surely deserve praise for the full use you made of whatever opportunities that were given to you.
I don't know if Season 2 will be a reality. If at all it is, I sincerely hope these two characters get better screen space and the talents of these two good actors are put to better use!
