- really good edit 👍🏼

"He scolds her for putting the "marriage" idea in La's head but assures her that things won't go her way, and her response "i'll be there tomorrow and teach you all the rituals...of karva chaut, navaraatri, all the bridal accessories..sub kuchh"🤣" - the scene really cracked me up...from his wat to her explanation🤣...Amazing...Sanaya's expressions were priceless ⭐️

"
get feeling here La's silence triggered frustrations of Khushi's silence, - Khushi is constantly on his mind 24/7 😳

Khushi Kumaari Gupta pushing him into chaos every aspect of his life...no wonder he wakes up with a headache...😆

Episode 78-79: The sound of the shankh

What an explosive dhamakedaar start to 78, the auspicious sound of the shankh (conch shell), as the dupatta finds its target and lands on her head, vieling her entire face but failing to cover her disbelief. The last time the shankh was heard it was when he accidentally broke her fast, that incident was deemed accidental, but what to make of this one? Arnav furiously took the dupatta from his girlfriend and pitched it over la's head, but landed directly on Khushi... it was as if the dupatta once again got a mind of its own in its quest to tie these two together forever.
IN IPK earings and dupattas have a mind of their and do what they want both act on DM's inrtuctions to bring these two together. What an expression both of them had. ASR and Khushi as if what is this

Khushi can't even blame Arnav this time for unintentionally doing something so big and meaningful. The words of her Amma, she told to La, echoed back in her head...
" jisse rishte ki taar judi ho... agar usske haath aapke sar pe, matlab aapke man ke meet ke haathon, aap ke sir pe chunri gir jaaye... toh uss jodi ko shaadi ke bandhan mein bandhne se koi nahi roke sakta."
"If a chunri lands on your head by the person you have a connection to, by the one you secretly love, noone can stop that couple from forming an union" How do they know where their taar are joined😉

"rishte ki taar" literal meaning "a string of connection" ...This "taar" between these star-crossed lovers seem to go back lifetimes upon lifetimes. The shankh was loud and clear announcing the sealing of their "rishta"(relationship) today. In Hinduism, the shankh, which symbolizes the supreme Lord Vishnu, plays a vital role at the start of auspicious occasions. Shankhs are considered sacred and pure, IMO it's how Arnav views Khushi. If Arnav is the ocean, Khushi must be the shankh, sacred and pure, she is found in him and the sound of his humming can be heard from her if listened carefully, they have been a part of each other for eons. ("Arnav=Ocean" credit to Indi!)
Loved this analysis
The other significance of the shankh in this show is later when it makes an apearance, one which belonged to Arnav's mom. Khushi goes to fetch it from the storage room for Anjali, and is overcome with emotion at the sight of it, holding it...

just the night before, she had learned about her the way of her demise from an anxious, beyond sad Arnav. I've always felt that among all the forced conspiring to bring these two together, him mom is very much included. I believe she was very much present when the shankh went off during teej and when this dupatta landed on Khushi's head, blessing her new bahu. It can't be easy being a star and watching your gem of a son go through so much pain. as a repercussion of your actions...She must've wanted "Kushi" in his life more than anything. Being the heavy emotional/appearing uneotional guy he definately needs this seeminlycarefree/ iwith lot of depth Khushi

On khushi's face, behind the gunghat( viel), she has no objections to her mother's words, no denial about such words as "man ka meet" (lover of her mind like a secret love), there is only acceptance.

She allows the dupatta to just lay there while she processes this special occurrence. Meanwhile the ocean flows out of the room, but comes to an immediate halt, he feels her standing behind that dupatta. incredulous and bemused ASR turn aback again and again La's words fresh in his mind

Slowly turning around to have a better look at her . He looks at the chunri and then her, an approval in his eyes.

And when she slowly goes to take the chunri off, he looks disappointed like he wants her to keep it on. And though La didn't get to finish why he should make the chnri land on her, he seems to know already, maybe that's why he threw it.

He doesn't believe in marriage, but here seeing his thrown chunri on Khushi's head, feels so right to him, both well aware of its significance because its discussed through their eyes..."Rabba ve"...dare i say the most auspicious one so far?

Their "taar' of lifetimes shines through in this scene, both feel it to the core. She has always been a part of him the ocean and he has always been a part of her, the shankh...

Arnav comes to his senses and turns around to leave while she looks on, as always he can't just leave, her pull is too strong, he has to stop once more to look at her, and out of habit she returns the look..so much said in unspoken words. This is what happened between them
Aankhon Hi Aankhon Mein Ishaara Ho Gaya, Baithe Baithe Jeene Ka Sahaara Ho Gaya

Khushi stands there holding, looking and feeling the dupata that just made things a little more official for her, La comes out and naturally takes her dupatta back. KHushi looks as if she is losing a part of herself, not wanting to let go, she watched helplessly that look on her face again, one of immense saddness and pain when she is reminded of La's rights on him... what a powerful scene!

La is upset that Khushi's plan didn't work, so Khushi tries and cheer her up. Some girly moments follow discussing "bway" friends, Salman Khan and dance masti and ofcourse a good pillow fight. "Mr. too mature for all this" Arnav walks in, Khushi sees him first and her reaction is hilarious, especially when s he puts her foot on the floor but picks it back up like the "maggar macch (crockidile)" is really in the waters.😆😆

Clearly not pleased with the way his girlfriend is turning out, he doesn't let the chance to bring up her status again. " kabhi fancy dress kabhi yeh sab, that's enough Lavanya (sometime fancy dress, at times all of this, its enough Lavanya)"...Briefly eyeing Khushi to assure a good target, "ladki ke saath rehte rehte tum bhi middle class hoti jaa rahi ho (you becoming middle class')".. He probably would've gone on but Khushi was saved by a phone call from the GH. Bua is asking her to come home immediately.
A frantic khushi returns home only to discover a pleasant surprise, her amma and bauji are here. Sanaya is excellent here as the daughter who missed her parents enormously. Love the scene of Khushi and Shashi later on, as Khushi tried to console her broken father.

The special thing about this scene is how Khushi first tries to cheer him up but then gives up and hugs him. Sashi is the only person in front of whom Khushi feels she doesn't have to be strong. The way she just hugs him and cries with him, just lovely and real. The reveal of what shyaam did to her father deserved a special track dammit!! this closure was much too important, can' only imagine what Khushi would've done to Shyam.

Back at the RM, La has taken Khushi's advise and has gathered the whole family and called Arnav back from his office."Why did you call me back...hurry up Lavanya, i'm getting late." Arnav hastens her. As soon as a nervous La spoke, words like "shaadi (marriage)" "Arnav's boiling point was evident...and when she mentioned Khushi's name as her source of inspiration, that boiling point was certain. He looked around watching Di and others laugh and smile at what she was saying... Khushi's words, some rehearsed some reading off the palm of her hand...it was kind of cute, but not to ASR . She asks him to marry her, and he responds with a cold angry look, forcing his hand out of hers and walking away without saying a word.

As soon as he reached the office, he calls Khushi, she pick up and hears her dreaded full name from the rakshas "Khushi Kumaari Gupta."

A marvelous scene , Arnav's reflections shot beautifully here, IMO, to show his internal and external struggles to win against this girl at all costs, on every level.

With her family surrounding her she decided to pretend it was Lavanya, which made for some very funny moments and expressions from the mighty ASR, who was trying to intimidate her with his ASRness.
He scolds her for putting the "marriage" idea in La's head but assures her that things won't go her way, and her response "i'll be there tomorrow and teach you all the rituals...of karva chaut, navaraatri, all the bridal accessories..sub kuchh"🤣
Arnav is angry and confused now "what?"
she hangs up on him, he calls again, she disconnects the line, he tries again as "meri baat koi nahi katta" he is furious! defiance! defiance, defiance...just doesn't sit well with him. To make matters worse La brings a hot lunch much to Arnav's annoyance.
Arnav has met his mate who cuts all his talk and infuriates him no end the chit pf a choti aukaut girl who is heartwarming with a helpful hand and who makes everyone her friend
Arnav sends her home and rejects her lunch too...making a huge statement, Eating it would somehow acknowledge and support the marriage idea, considering La's state of mind regarding marriage. Another beautiful layer about this man, he need to be upfront, chrystal clear about everything, no beating around the bushes.

Later when goes home he talks to La "whats the problem, you got me tea in the morning, and that too in clothes like that Khushi Kumaari Gupta wears, then you mad a joke of me and yourself in front of my family by proposing to me, you know i don't believe in marriage..". I get feeling here La's silence triggered frustrations of Khushi's silence, He screams "REACT DAMMIT!(😳) answer me! i told you kucch bhi karna par uss KKG ki tara mat ban na...mujhe aisi koi bhi baat dobara nahin sun ni, shaadi ki to blikul nahi (do anything but don't become like that KKG,...I don't want to hear anything about this again...especially not of marriage)"I was happy to see La demanding some answers, "whats the problem in marriaga? to give a name a relationship?"
He knows she deserves answers which he can't give her, he calmly tells her" i don't want to talk about this again" La gets upset and leaves. His thoughts revert back to KKG, she lefter early but all he heard was her name everywhere. "Khushi Kumaari Gupta, yeh sab tumhari galati hai"(this is all your fault)

The pressures of marriage suddenly from his girlfriend who till now was a good fit for him because "na usse shaadi mein interest hai na mujhe" (she's not interested in marriage and neither am i) as he told his di before La moved in. In addition, Khushi Kumaari Gupta pushing him into chaos every aspect of his life...no wonder he wakes up with a headache...

DROOL CORNER!!!!!!!!!!!!

❤️ the inner struggle! Sobti is BRILLIANT! ❤️❤️😳

Do we choose whom we love? Do we love for a reason? I think sometimes but most of the times we just do. Why do I love her and a reason- I just do conclusion. When they say something it strengthens it and when they do something they question why. I also dont believe about loving with a reason love is just love it happens from the starting of time history is replete in all statas of society and then its only for those who fall in love it is in their eyes and hearts bas.Anjali : She was really hurt when Arnav was not even paying attention and hurting La even when Arnav refused to marry La, refused to change his mentality, got angry when shown concern and was thinking- Why does she love him? Then the same night he breaks down hugging her. He starts crying and she gets her answer. She loved chote not because he is her younger brother but because to him she was both parents. She could tolerate anything and would anything to stop him from breakdown. She understood that the talk of marriage so close to her parents Barsi has broken him down. And she understood she loved chote, who by relation was her brother but in all other aspects was her son, whom she loved a lot, whom she loved blindly, and would tolerate all his attitude because after all love is blind and stupid, and Anjali knew only the blind love, not by choice, but because she had to for the sake of happiness of her chote. Because in her son she had given the basis of all her happiness. I never envisioned a sister who could be sweet and the same time intelligent for her brother. Lovely thoughts on Anjali she tries to smoothen everything push under the carpet the mess like a ostrich does not want any unpleasentness in relationships

Arnav : When Khushi made a fool of her by pretending to be sick, when Khushi tried hard to evade him, when Khushi gave her a lecture about marriage and her very low opinion about him- He was thinking why on earth was he falling for her? When she came to give her condolences about his mother stating that he looked like her mother, when she taunted about him and puja on the day of his parents death anniversary- he positively hated loving her. In his opinion everything bad happens because of Khushi. Then he saw her when she was lightening the candle and decided there was nothing special, and then had to look back and knew she was special to him. He then kept on looking and got his answer he just loved her. The next day when he was in the mandir and could feel her there- saw her back there, he was hating loving her but still did because his shatir dimag told him to stop trying to find a reason. It told him those moments he spent with her made him forget the pain in his past and that was enough reason for him to love her and continue loving her and tolerate her Lovely very well put he just loves her he has no control and tries again to disbelieve sh has became a part of his being despite his fighting with his heart

Khushi : When Arnav was reminding her of her her status in the house, when he pulled her close , when he hurt her, when La touched the tender bruise- Khushi was hating herself and wanted to hate him.
Then when he drew her close to him- she could not push him away, when he willed her to look back at him she just had to. She was asking herself- why do I love him so? She was telling herself why- when he took La with him after all he was the person La loved and she was not going to compete for him. Then in he Mandir she was feeling him strongly around her and had to look back to see him. She had a feeling that he was the utter selfish person who would want all the mannat only for himself. Then She saw he wanted all pigeons for the health of a little girl's dad and finding a small reason not to hate him. She saw how hurt he was when speaking of his parents death and she understood. She loved him and could not leave him because in his view- she belonged to him. She loved him more then herself because he loved her more then himself, she was the only person in the world for him to whom he could tell what he could not tell anyone. She was the only person he could tell- that everyone says they understand what he was going through and no one understands. She was the only one whom he really wanted to understand what he was going though living in a house where his parents are not coming back. She loved him because he needed her and Khushi thought of others before herself always.
Loved this way you described Khushi since the beginning she always kept this feeling hidden with her and never even shared some things with Jiji
We do not really choose whom we fall in love with-- do we?

One of my favorite episode. Arnav and Khushi's vortex of emotion for each other exhilarated one step ahead.

Khushi tricked him and left, ASR was quivering in anger. He needed to desolate himself to cool down. But he was still in Khushi's trance. Right then he couldn't think anything else but to venge her. When La came to say bye, he thought it was Khushi. La got a shock to hear Khushi's name. La is too simple that's why she didn't suspect anything. - you're right she is trusting but i think a part of her is just ignoring and looking the other way, she noticed the way he looked at her at calender shoot and also took notice to how Khushi gets to him...she is also in denial...Khushi and Arnav's relationship is too complicated, i'm sure it leaves her a bit confused 😆

Arnav came back from his trance, when he realized it's La, not Khushi. La left for office by ASR's car.On the way Khushi found ASR's car leaving, so she got jovial, Lad Governor left, so she can freely work now." But no avail, LG was right there to receive her. She avoided him and tried to flee, gave him the excuse to meet mami upstairs.

Khushi opened the poolside door, to go out. But immediately ASR's strong hand 😳closed the door from behind. She tried to get out from the main door,ASR rushed and closed the door too.She tried the poolside door again. This time he put his hand on her both side on the glass and caged her, -i like your descriptiong of the scene!

"you crossed your limit KKG"Khushi squirmed to go. But ASR was adamant,"you can't leave without hearing me, you can scream, but no one is at home to hear you. I'm tolerating you becoz of di, otherwise." he didn't complete. I think he intentionally didn't say what he would do. Coz he himself was confused with his conflicting feelings for her.- well said

He resumed,"You are brought here to train La and do your job accordingly. Don't try to teach her your middle class mentality. How dare you change her perception about marriage?." Khushi emulated him,"the concept of marriage didn't made by me. It's a sacrosanct thing, which is blessed by God." She was valiant," two people vow to live for the whole life and life here after. they wish to be there for each other during their grief . They willingly sacrifice for each other. That's how a true bonding fulfilled."she was prying to his sanctuary,"a man like you will never understand this, coz you are selfish, when your needs fulfilled you will free from from responsibility, from any promise or any bonding. In my opinion you are a loose character guy."She moved to leave. But ASR caught her hand from behind and pulled her towards him. She collided on his chest, ASR got frenzy"I didn't finish yet. Let me show you what a loose character is!" Khushi was tremulous in fear, "I didn't mean so".ASR was getting weak. No matter what he can't bear tears in her eyes.Vortex of emotion engulfing them👏👏. Their intense gaze was burning them. He was smouldering her with passion and anger at the same time.- exactly! love how you put it, at this point anger was only a front though
He extricated her. And La entered there right then. Good lord La didn't see them in entangled position, but she certainly was surprised to see them in a closed room. She didn't suspect anything. Coz ASR looked frantic and Khushi looked upset with teary eyes. ASR left them alone. La thought ASR scolded her. she tried to console Khushi. Khushi was disoriented. So she told La that she will be back. she needed some isolation to comfort herself.

Khushi was terribly upset at ASR's sardonic behavior. She found the bruise on her wrist, what ASR gave him. the scorching pain in her heart was greater than the bruise in her hand. ASR's compunction also was tormenting him. he was in contrition to hurt her again.

Sashiji was keenly watching Shyam's moves. He got suspicious with his dubious answers. Shyam also realised that he was suspecting him. so he was trying to be extra cordial, what sure made Sashiji more doubtful. But Nave Buaji didn't recognize this sly fellow. She again praised him as an eligible groom. Shyam was eavesdropping their convo and muttered himself that she will soon marry Khushi. Shyam's shatir dimaag was scheming something big this time. - Shyam is able to charm the ladies with his charm and goody goody-ness but the bauji is too had his doubts!! its about time someone doubts him!

Khushi was teaching La how to change a bulb. She was still forlorn, lost in self. while showing La, how to change the bulb, La found the bruise mark on her hand she asked her again, if she is alright! The power got out while they were changing the bulb. Khushi thought the fuse got disconnected. Along La she went to fix the fuse. Nani, mami and Anjali were talking in the living room. Mami got scared at the power outage. As long as she started the ghost story, Khushi appeared with a candle. Mami got frightened now. Khushi told them how the fuse gone and she wanted to teach La how to fix a fuse. Mami as usual taunted Khushi but sweet nani is always ready for her rescue. She scolded mami. Nani is just a perfect MIL for a mean DIL like mami.😆 - TRUE THAT!
Mr. sexy Akroo😳 came to ask Anjali why the power was not there. When he heard that power was gone becoz of Khushi, he started his vexation,"Khushi always creates a problem."

ASR came to lacerate Khushi again,"is anything left to spoil or brain wash La?" La resented,"it's my fault. She was teaching me how to change a bulb." She told Khushi to get down from the stool and wished to do the job. Khushi got down. but the candle blew out. She lit the candle again. ASR was about to leave but halted when he saw her beautiful luminous face glowing in the candle light. He was yearning to ebb in her mesmerizing beauty. Khushi was also watching him starring at her. She didn't notice that the candle tilted. When the hot wax was about to fall on her hand ASR ran to her to hold the candle straight. By this time La fell from the stool. ASR didn't notice La was falling, coz he was completely lost in Khushi. La got upset ,"why didn't you help me, when you were there." pause: How would you help you yaar, when Khushi is around he doesn't see anyone else. ASR helped La and they walked away .Khushi looked hurt seeing them together. ASR starred back at her, as if he was begging apology that he was with La, but not with her.😔

ASR got La in the living room where Anjali was arranging the materials for pooja. He remembered that the next day was their parent's death anniversary. Anjali saw her bro's anxiety. ASR was in turbulence. the incident what happened 14 years back was reverberating in his mind. He has been leading a wretched life since then. That night still haunts both of the siblings. Anjali came to console her bro. He broke down to see his sis. ASR intended to speak something, but his sis knew how to pacify her bro's turmoil,"don't say anything."he tried to distract her, but Anjali really wanted to soothe him,"I know you miss them." He assured her that he is fine. he knew very well how to hide his anguish from the world. But he remembered that he has to bring the pandit from the mandir for the pooja. He doesn't do religious customs, but he is very much aware of his responsibilities.

Garimaji and Sashiji is doubtful about Shyam. Sashiji tried to connect Shyam's activity and got suspicious. He wanted to scrutinize him more.He loves Khushi immensely. So he can't risk her life.

I wanted to post this VM when The veil landed on Khushi by ASR. But I missed it.

episode 81

fluttering wings. feathers and their interaction with the air and sky creating another layer of sound. their motion stirring sensation. on the very first day we met our protagonist they were there. the pigeons. startling him out of his reverie. as his memories echoed and careened through him, they came out of nowhere in a sudden burst and flew around free, they had never known a cage. but some people had. and the wings called them to rebel perhaps, regain their freedom.

today again. one of the most difficult days of his life and there they were. when khushi walked into the temple with her parents, i couldn't help but remember the pigeons from the first episode, and later in khushi's balcony and dm's temple in lucknow. they seemed to bestow a stroke of something, like the creators wanted to add more meaning to the telling today. and not all of it could be neatly scripted into dialogues, camera movements, music, even acting cues. something unchained, unrehearsed, spontaneous was needed.

expert stacking of stories one on another. khushi is here, praying for her father. asr is here to take the priest to the death anniversary prayers of his parents. his memories are here, how can they not be, that's where he keeps his maa safe, somewhere in that scream. and a little girl is here, worrying for her papa's health, with a broken piggy bank that refuses to yield enough to buy a pigeon.

the pigeon that will carry her wishes far and high and make it come true. all here with there parents in and around them. children, somewhere all three. and perhaps it is when you are a child and see with a child's eyes you get to see the truth.

perception is reality. famous rolling stones magazines ad line. not all ads lie. this one is 16 annas true. with her mind happy and engaged with her parents and prayer, not prejudice, she interprets what she sees perfectly. and is flabbergasted by a realisation. people are not always what they seem to be.

"jiji... par woh waisa hai hi nahin... usska asli roop toh kuch aur hi hai." jiji, he isn't like that at all, in reality he is absolutely different. people should be the way they look, but why aren't they? "insaan achcha ya bura ye kaise samjha jaaye?" how will one understand whether a person is good or bad?

a.vi.a.tors.

he stops in his tracks. takes off glasses. a little girl sits on a bench crying. "panditji aap chaliye, mein aata hoon." go ahead, panditji, i'm coming. his heart is open today, he is all and only his mother's son at this moment. and he can't walk away leaving a little child crying alone. maybe he had been that child once.

he is a bit awkward, not so comfortable around kids. a very not prepared, "ky... kya hua?" almost brusque. wh... what's the matter?

he looks around, then tentatively, "tumhare mummy papa kahan hain?" where are your parents?

on a sob, a forlorn little voice says, "papa hospital mein hai... mummy ro rahi hai." papa is in hospital, mummy is crying.

a child distressed and worried for both her parents. her tears are streaming. he grabs his handkerchief, passes it to her. she blows her nose straight into it. and the grossed out asr face from 75 here again. khushi blowing her nose vigorously into her dupatta, bet he recalls that scene. shades of khushi in the child, and shades of asr in her cry for her parents, her yearning to make it all ok for them. she returns the hanky. trepidation. nausea. but. he is a brave man. he takes it gingerly. in the midst of sadness and turmoil, moments of elevating lightness, an ipk trademark as it were.

the jo chaho mil jata kabootar tale comes forth. kabootar? pigeons fulfill wishes? "par mere paas toh sirf das rupaye hai." but i have only ten rupees, she says, the baby talk not yet completely erased from the voice. still trusting, still innocent, still not adult and guarded.

a memory of a time of not having floats in with the music. of terrible days, sadness, loss, no amount of kabootar flying could take away that spectre, but in it is an identifying with a child's sense of helplessness, and all the intensity of an innocent's love. next to her, her piggy bank, broken; her treasure, all of it is there for her father's well being. but the money is just not enough. again khushi comes to mind and her changing world, where the gullak is no longer enough to buy all she wants, the growing pains of life. when all you have is not enough, how terrible is that feeling then?

khushi is also praying for her dad. she would break every piggy bank for him and more. she remembers something and tells her parents she'll be back in no time. the pigeons call her, or maybe they bring her a message from someone.

today, he pays for the little girl's father's health, no, for her belief that this will make her dad ok. and to take away those tears, if he can, that would be priceless. it's his parents' barsi, how can he bear to see anyone suffering about their parents today of all days. alas, khushi will not get her pigeon. but she will get to see something she'll treasure long. even in her darkest hour it will surely bring her hope. and when her babuji is in hospital, this man will come and pay, not for pigeons, but for all that is needed to make her babuji fine. oh the coming together of time and strands of story of this episode is rare. there's reference and echo everywhere.

just now a man came and got all the birds, says the pigeon seller.
"kya? itni saari mannate sirf ek aadmi ke liye? bada laalchi insaan hoga jo sab kuch sirf apne liye hi mangta hai." what? khushi is upset, so many wishes for just one man, must be a really greedy guy, who asks for everything for himself. kkg's ability to jump to conclusions is something else, and usually has me rofling. really painful when tears are on standby.

and if there's one flaw this man doesn't have, it is this: he actually never asks anything for himself. almost never. works hard, takes care of the whole family financially, and emotionally too, completely depended on by all, never grudges this. a bit grouchy, not too sweet, not at all chatty, but lalchi? uh huh. doesn't even expect anyone to stay up and heat his food when he comes home late at night and has dinner.

beautiful shots as pigeons flap their wings and fly off...

she is delighted to see the kid jumping in glee, chalo at least this little one got pigeons for her mannat, wonder what she asked for.

"uncle. uncle." and he turns... it's him.

she's shocked.

she blinks. maybe just a teeny bit of the blink is for the gorgeousness that is being revealed.

"yeh sab mere papa ke liye hai?" all this is for my father?

"haanh, beta." yes, little one. how tender now, maybe in the release of the birds a few moments of freedom within him. a wish of his being carried unknown to him perhaps by one of those skyward birds?

khushi watches, jaw dropping, and a sense of wonder comes calling. this is asr. arnav singh raizada aka rakshas, laad governor...

"aur aapke mummy papa ke liye?" and for your parents? this time, really the music was not required. his eyes were enough to tell the entire story. he struggles with his tears, and swallows hard. and then the sweetest shake of his head. not there.

the touch of a child on his tears. how she appeared from nowhere to again disappear from his life. was she sent here by his mother's wish, her blessing, to bring solace to her son on a day she knows he suffers? do those who leave us still look out for us?

"aap ba'ut acchhe 'ain," you are very nice, says the little one, like eliza dolittle dropping "h"s everywhere.

so this is rakshas.

"ab mere papa teek o jaayenge na?" nod, yes. a beckon by "come here" chubby finger, and a kiss on the cheek... he's a tad shocked. he smiles and reaches out, a little unsure, to touch her head. in blessing? in thanks?

reminded me of that day in the hospital with khushi. as she cried, he could not stop himself, he reached out and touch her head, to console, to assure, to say, i am here i'll take care of you. almost like a parent... an instinct from that part of us called rachem or compassion/mercy which comes from the word for womb. he was as gentle as a mother almost right now, with this little kid who had blown snot into his pristine white kerchief.

softly, "ab aap ghar jao," now go home and don't sit here and cry, and don't leave your home alone.

"... jao." go.

and as khushi
watches him nonplussed, feelings whirling in her, camera pulls focus, i see him looking up at the sky, for an instant a plea in his eyes, a call. does he too search for his mother up there? this was for me the few seconds that made the episode. a whole story in it, and a coming closer of two people meant for each other. he doesn't know she's there, yet somewhere he does, look how the birds flutter their wings, their sounds carry messages, everywhere.

then the shades are on. a last long look at the sky and he leaves.

back at home the feelings that had found a little peace in the temple, were edged out by his grief, his churned scattered killing thoughts, in the midst of that, she came and said, she understood. he had no idea that she did. he thought this was yet again another sympathiser with no experience of such pain. and as is now become a habit, he took out all his pent up anger, frustration, everything on her. scathing words rejected her genuine heartfelt words, he shattered her with anger and insults, ending on the customary "get out." a little girl of eight who had felt almost all that he had, struggled with the brutality, a woman of 18 held her hand and turned away, walking away from a man that remained unfathomable. was this the angel in the mandir just now?

parents came and stayed lingering across the entire episode today. a protective father, a beloved mother, children with the touch of a mother, adults becoming kids before their parents. even rabba ve wrapped around a father and a mother. the notes trilled and connected a man who sensed her the moment he walked into the temple, her, and her amma babuji.

aapki aankhe bilkul aapki amma ki tarah hai.
your eyes are just like your mother's.

yahan se jao please.
go from here, please.

hum samajh sakte hain ki... iss waqt aapko kaisa lag raha hai.
i can understand what you're going through right now.

kaisa lagta hai jab apne haathon se apne ma ko agni dete hain...
how it feel when you light your own mother's pyre with your own hands...
kaisa lagta hai jab apne ma baap ko jalakar ghar aate hain?
how it feels when you return home after burning your mother amnd father
kaisa lagta hai jab uss ghar mein phir se kadam rakhte hain jahan woh wapas kabhi nahin aayenge...
how it feels when to set foot in the house where they shall never return again

everyone says they understand what you feel,
lekin koi kuch nahin samajhta!
but no one understands anything!
