The third chapter in one day! lol! I'm on a roll! Do leave some comments and likes pleaaase! :)

Chapter 3: Selling Myself to the Raizada

I trailed behind him, my heart beating faster than ever. It almost looked as if I had just come from running a marathon. How could I have been so stupid? And that too on the first day. Not only had I embarrassed myself in front of my boss, but also the entire company. That HAD to be some sort of record. Just thinking about it made my face turn a shade of bright red.

"...Are we clear Ms. Gupta?" Came a sudden voice, startling me out of my thoughts. "Whaa... umm, yeah, totally." I said, pretending I knew exactly what the heck my boss was talking about. The greek god stopped, opening the door of his glass cabin and motioning for me to enter. "Thank you." I whispered, dazedly. He believed in the ladies first rule... how manly. How decent. I sighed, resisting the urge to lean my cheek onto my hand and stare at him. Oh, and did I mention his voice? Dang... it was the sexiest thing I had ever heard. Husky enough to give anyone goosebumps. I shuddered. "Miss Gupta." He stated suddenly, bringing me out of my thoughts. "From the way you're staring off into space like that, I'm getting the feeling that you're not interested in this job. Am I right?" He asked, sternly. I blinked. What? Where had that come from? I was totally in on this conversation. Just... I happened to miss the last... erm... five minutes of his speech.

"N-No sir. That's not true. I really want this job." I protested, suddenly paying full attention. "Well, perhaps you could bring a little bit of enthusiasm onto your face then." He walked over to his table, reefing through a series of paperwork. "You see Miss Gupta," he began, eyes on his work. "We have a number of individuals who would accept the position you've been offered without blinking an eye and would do a damn good job in it as well."

I mumbled a quiet, "yes sir."

He nodded. "Good. I'm glad you understand. So sell yourself to me."

I sputtered, coughing. "Excuse me? I thought this was my first day at work. And I've already done the interview with Aakash ji, so-"

"Sir." He interrupted, eyes glued on the papers on his desk. "What?" I asked, totally confused. "Call him Aakash sir. Tumhaari itni haisiyat nahi ke tum unhe naam se bulao. {You're not at the stage where you can call him by his proper name}"

I frowned. Jerkhead. Were all bosses like him or was he one of a kind? I swallowed my anger and carefully said, "yes, I've already done the interview with sir, so why do I have to do it again?"

That made him look up at me. And oh my god, I swear, if it weren't for the fact that I was about to lose my job that I had barely gotten, I would I have fainted.

"You've done the interview with him, but you'll be working with me. And must I remind you that I don't appreciate argument? Sell yourself to me Ms. Gupta." He said, nonchalantly. I gulped.

"Erm... ok... I... uhm... - "

"Is that how you'll talk to our clients Ms. Gupta? Erm...ok's and umm's are not going to make us look professional or increase profit." He stated. I blushed. God, this was so embarrassing. Aakash sir hadn't been so mean about this stuff. He had been so understanding. And this man, ugh... And yes, I did just call him Aakash, so HAH. In his FACE.

"I'm a good candidate for this position because - "

"We have many good candidates Ms. Gupta. But 'good' has never been enough for AR companies." He interrupted. Gosh, his habit of interrupting people when they spoke was really getting on my nerves.

"I'm the perfect candidate for this position because I have people skills. I love dealing with people and I'm good ...I'm great at it as well - "

"Tell me something new." He stated, sounding thoroughly bored. "Every single one of our applicants has managed to come up with the same reason and frankly, I'm getting fed up of it."

If this were some sort of cartoon show, I swear, smoke would have been coming out of my ears at that moment. This was the last straw. He asked for it.

"Mr. Raizada, " I stated, ignoring his glare for not calling him by his preferred method - 'sir'. "I'm sorry to say that your company does not keep every consumer group in mind while making their products. The only people who would wear your designs are bar dancers and low-class people with no respect."

His eyes were as red as fire, but I wasn't done yet. "Before you 'fire' me, I would like to tell you the reason for this as well."

I stood up, grabbing my white bag off the table and straightening clothes. "The clothes that you make and sell are replacements for lingerie. Any decent female would not feel comfortable in walking out on the streets half naked, like your 'clothes' make them look. Imagine, Mr. Raizada, how much profit you would make if, along with these... pieces of lingerie that you sell, you made proper western clothes, salwaar suits, lenghas and bridal wear. Your company would cater to every consumer group. Until you do so, your company, in my books is nonexistant. Thank you for your time Mr. Raizada and have a nice day."

I stood up, opened the glass door, (which I felt like smashing instead) and walked coolly out. I regretted my actions the very next moment. Shit. What had I just done? But had I been entirely wrong in doing what I did? I mean, the Raizada was so annoying. What else was I supposed to do? Just sit there and listen to him yell at me? No ways. Khushi Kumari Gupta didn't work that way.

But little did I know that my journey at AR was not finished. Not even close...

--End--

So that was the third update! Do tell me what you think! :)

Lots of love,

Sanju
