It was a rainy December morning when Veera woke up feeling so sick as usual. She was quite used to it by now. Its like the nausea and vomitting where there every morning to welcome her and wake her up. She got up from the bed feeling faint, but luckily someone caught her before she slipped.
armaan - "Are you okay?"
veera - "I need to go to the bathroom" she said in vain
Armaan helped her to the bathroom and waited for her outside. She opened the door and saw him waiting outside.
veera - "How come you're here this early in the morning?"
a - "Just finished my last final exam and then came here"
v - "Can't believe the first semester is over already and I missed it; all of it. From classes to business clubs to everything"
a - "Well it wasn't that good so relax. You had to set your priorities straight right?"
v - "Who knows if I'm still going to be alive in a few months or weeks even" she said trying to prepare herself for the results coming this afternoon
viren - "And that's strike number three" he said standing at the door
veera - "What are you doing here now? You just left like 5 hours ago and again you've come to eat my brain early morning"
viren - "Well now you owe me, third time you said something dumb like that in the past week. Need to think of what I want from you now 😆"
veera - "Well I was only trying to prepare you guys for the results today. God knows what news is going to come our way"
viren - "Can you be positive? I miss my fun-filled Veera who used to lecture me on thinking on the bright side"
veera - "Yeah well I miss the old Veera who didn't have cancer and who wasn't confined to this room for the past three months" she said getting teary-eyed.
armaan - "Well if anything, you're only going to get better for being so strong the past three months. You've done everything you're supposed to, even quitting your online classes so you can get more rest. Just think the way you have been the past three months and everything will be fine, I promise"
veera - "You really think so?"
Armaan just smiled and Viren just glared at the both of them 🤔. He loved and hated their relationship at the same time. He was kind of getting used to seeing Armaan now and appreciated him for being so strong and always by his Veera's side, but at the same time he still felt the need to be the big brother, the typical INDIAN brother.
viren - "So how about some breakfast? I'm starving"
veera - "when are you not these days? Are you pregnant by any chance"
viren - "hahaha very funny" he said sarcastically
veera - "The nurse will be bringing my breakfast in some time even though I'm in no mood to eat it"
viren - "Well suck it up and eat it then 😛 " he said in a funny tone
veera - "Why are you so annoying? Where's bhabhi? Jeez I can't handle you alone anymore"
Armaan was just laughing standing next to Veera, but as soon as Viren looked at him he stopped. He was still scared of Viren and was trying his level best to impress him.
viren - "She's parking the car"
veera - "You're such a dumbo"
viren - "Now what did I do?" 😕
veera - "You made bhabhi park the car, while you came inside. How stupid of you"
jeevika - "I agree with you Veera" she said walking inside the room and sitting on the bed next to Veera.
viren - "Here we go again!!!! Now before I get into more trouble I'm going to run and get some breakfast from the cafeteria. Anyone want anything?"
jeevika - "Cappuchino and bagel for me please"
viren - "Armaan do you want anything?"
a - "I'm fine, thank you"
Veera and Jeevika looked at each other and smiled seeing how nice Viren was being. They just laughed both Armaan and Viren both knew the reason behind it as well.
Viren just eyed Veera and Jeevika making them control their faces.
viren - "How about a coffee?"
a - "Okay sure" he said hesitantly
Viren left the room to get breakfast.
j - "Did you feel nauseous this morning?"
veera - "Yeah, but didn't really throw up"
j - "Well hopefully after the reports today we can slowly decrease all the medication"
veera - "I really hope so" she said putting her head back on the pillow and looking up at the ceiling as if there was nothing else more to do.
j - "I'll be back, you guys talk"
Jeevika went outside the room and tried finding Veera's nurse. She wanted to ask her what time they would be taking her for the tests today. Viren saw her and walked up to her with her coffee.
v - "Here you go, one cappuccino and you're blueberry bagel toasted just the way you like it"
j - "Thank you ver much" she said smiling and taking it from his hand
v - "What were you asking the nurse?"
j - "Just what time Veera will get her tests done"
v - "Ohh okay. I hope everything comes out to be better today"
j - "I have a feeling it will. Its going slow but at least its steady right?"
v - "I guess. I was thinking something'"
j - "Yes, what my sexy husband thinking?"
Viren started smiling harder now
v - "Well next week Veera will get a week off from the treatment right?"
j - "Yeah hopefully"
v - "So lets do something special for her"
j - "Just for Veera?"
v - "Well yeah, I mean she's been going through so much. And we'll invite her boyfriend or whatever"
j - "Okay, I guess that works" she said in a monotone way
Jeevika walked back to the room with her breakfast while Viren stood near the nurse's station if he had said something to hurt Jeevika's feelings. He didn't know what he had done or how her mood changed so quickly. He walked back in the room and gave Armaan a cup of coffee and noticed Veera trying to go back to sleep. Jeevika was sitting on the couch opening her files and reading through some research papers. Armaan was still sitting in the seat next to Veera just drinking his coffee, but slowly falling asleep as well. He was drained out from all the finals as he hadn't slept in three nights. He still made sure though he came and stayed at the hospital almost everyday to meet Veera. Viren just went and sat on the sofa chair looking through his iPhone. He was checking his calendar looking through what meetings he had next week as he needed to plan a night out for Veera. He then saw something which made sense. Next Saturday was Jeevika's birthday. How could he be the dumbest guy in the world and forget her birthday? After everything she does for him and his family, he couldn't even remember his wife's birthday. Maybe it was because of the fact that they weren't together last year due to the whole Maya incident, but now he knew he had to do something extra special. After all it was her first birthday after their magical wedding. Just then Viren thought of the most brilliant idea, he would tell Veera to arrange everything. Not only would her mind get distracted, but it would also lessen the work burden on him.
"How smart am I" he said to himself in his mind. 🤣
Viren just looked at Jeevika grading papers seeming a little irritated as she wasn't even making any eye contact with him now. The nurse walked in with breakfast for Veera and placed it on the table near her bed. She took Veera's medicine and injected it in her IV causing Veera to wake up as she could feel the medicine going through her body. She rubbed her eyes and looked around.
nurse - "I brought you some breakfast. Try eating as much as you can"
Veera just nodded yes while yawning and the nurse left. She tried sitting up and Viren got up from his seat to help her. He pushed the table near her bed so she could eat. She saw Armaan sitting next to her dead tired.
veera - "Why don't you go back to the dorm and sleep. You look like you're about to die"
a - "I'm fine"
veera - "Can you just go please?"
a - "You sure?"
veera - "Yeah"
a - "Okay, I'll come later today then"
veera - "Its' okay you don't have to. You should be going out with everyone and celebrating tonight"
a - "Celebrating for finishing finals? That doesn't call for a celebration"
veera - "You don't have to say that just to be nice to me. I still have a Facebook and I know all the parties people are throwing this weekend"
a - "Yeah well I don't want to go, so stop nagging me" he said smiling
veera - "You're a jerk sometimes"
a - "Thanks, I'll see you in sometime okay?"
veera - "Bye"
Armaan left and Viren sat down in his seat, right next to Veera.
veera - "ughhh this food is so gross. All I get is bland and tasteless things to eat"
j - "Just pull through it a little longer Veera"
veera - "I want to go and eat ice cream and cheesecake and donuts"
viren - "Anything besides desserts ever?"
veera - "NO" 😡
jeevika - "I'll be right back" she said getting up from her seat and going outside
viren - "I have to tell you, or actually ask you something?"
veera - "What advise do you need now" she said smiling and taking a bite of her breakfast 😆
viren - "Very funny' uhmm so next week is"
veera - "bhabhi's birthday" she said competing his sentence as he was taking to long to speak
viren - "You remembered?" 😲
veera - "How could I forget? Did you forget?" she said giving his the evil look 😡
Viren knew he was trapped and now he was going to get busted from her
veera - "Can you please slap yourself really hard? 😡 Who forgets their wife's birthday? Especially the first one after your wedding? Are you okay?"
viren - "I know I know I'm guilty"
veera - "Let's just be glad bhabhi didn't come to realize that you forgot her birthday"
Viren made an unusual facial expression making Veera slap her forehead 😲. She could read every expression, every thought of her brother
veera - "So she knows you forgot? Great job genius"
viren - "Okay okay I know I deserve a slap"
veera - "A slap won't cut it. You deserve something worst. Give me your credit card and get me my laptop. Now you will see what I do"
viren - "So will you help me plan a surprise for her?"
veera - "I'm ten steps ahead of you already. Armaan and I have been working on something for her. Give me your credit card and I'll arrange it. Anyways I have nothing to do here all day"
viren - "You're a sweetheart" ❤️
veera - "Tell me something I don't know 😆 . Now can you please move this food away from me"
viren - "You barely ate dumbo?"
veera - "You don't dare call me a dumbo, you forgot your wife's birthday you HYPOCRITE"
Viren just laughed letting Veera pull his leg 😆 🤣 😃
