Katrina Kaif has revealed that she struggled for three and a half years when she first arrived in Mumbai.
The part-British actress said that she would spend many hours travelling around the city with her portfolio to attend castings.
"There were three and a half years where I worked every single day, sometimes for 16 hours straight. I took taxis and visited advertising agencies to personally hand over my portfolio," Kaif told Harper's Bazaar.
"I regularly auditioned at studios where I held up a banner with my phone number scrawled on it. Soon, I started getting work, one thing led to another, and I made a natural progression into films."
Kaif, who made her debut in the 2003 release Boom, has gone on to become one of the biggest stars in the Indian film industry.
She also spoke about why she prefers to keep her personal and professional life separate, saying: "I've always maintained that those aspects of our lives which are personal, and unrelated to our careers, shouldn't be discussed at work."
In 2012, Kaif appeared in the 100 crore films Agneepath, Ek Tha Tiger and Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
