Janmashtami

PART 1

Significance of Janmashtami

The verses in the Bhagavad-Gita (a sacred book narrated by Lord Vishnu) say, that whenever there will be predominance of evil and decline of religion, I will reincarnate to kill the evil and to save the good. The main significance ofJanmashtami is to encourage goodwill and to discourage bad will. Krishna Jayanti also celebrates togetherness. The holy occasion brings people together, thus it signifies unity and faith.

Pause here:Lord Krishna has 108 names and one of the name is "Aparajeet"means "A lord who cannot be defeated".Another name is "Bali"... "The Lord of strength"

Connection: Indeed this event in the show signifies the birth of Goodwill in Khushi and an attempt of rebirth of the faith in Arnav at this moment but the goodwill of Arnav is always there, the missing piece is his Faith and that's where Khushi comes in and he will regain the power of Faith in relations , in people, and somewhat in religion. He will be victorious at the end by defeating all of his fears and pains associated with his cruel past.He will get strength in his faith but only because of Khushi.

Pause here: Until next Janmashmati he will regain trust in marriage and be ready for remarriage with rituals and all with Khushi. He will learn to differentiate the good and the bad in relations without mixing these together. The strength of his faith as "Khushi tum nai mujhe iss wishwas peh wishwas dilaiya"[You made me believe in this belief] during Telepathy and at the time of his wedding " Khushi tum ne mujhe yahan khara kar ke mere sab sawalon keh jawab dila diye"[ by making me stand here you gave me all the answers of my questions.]as Khushi's faith which she has on him the night before when she submits herself to him was way too strong for him which he couldn't break regardless of the strength of evil around him.

But the beauty is Shyam is also a name of Lord Krishna and he will get strength too in his mission of destruction and will remain undefeated until Khushi , Arnav , and Anjali will join hands together to destroy this evil as this festival represents unity and faith in relations as well as in religion.

Pause here: He will try to kill Babuji , then Anjali , Arnav and that will provide him strength each time which will lead into killing his own unborn child but amazingly will accept it from his own mouth as he will turn psycho.

Khushi 's story telling techniques by acting out with full zoom was fascinating for Naniji and Anjali. She told the whole story of the birth of Lord Krishna and La was like "What" was amazingly entertaining.

Khushi is blowing "Shunk" means starting the battle cry against all the wrong doings unintentionally as she is the savior for all with the help of her savior Arnavji.

Love the egoistic and sweet convo in between our Yummilicious "Kans" and Temptalicious "Elaichi".Indeed she is elaichi as her taste is not that sweet but her "Mehak" [essence] mmm,...mmm...goodheaven..He loves to hear her but can't see her winning over him but she already has done so whether you accept it or not Mr Akhroo."Maan laine main kia harj hai akhir" [whats wrong in accepting it after all Elaichi[cardamom] is a winner not kesar.Love the way her voice signals the soothing breeze on him and his voice dulcifying her but abhorrence takes place over it and then smugness takes over abhorrence"Hum Khushi Bol Rahain hain"[Khushi Speaking] .I wished he sees her rather listening because she was looking so adorable but "ASR is always right" so he cuts that soothing signal. They both sure know how to fight ...😉

Anjali's displeasure over Khushi's humiliation by La and Mamiji was very visible.Hey DM Chote's Jijai's and Khushi's Paying guest are sharing same name with Lord Krishna...By chance isn't he "Daiya Ho"...Khushi explains how milk and things made of milk were liked by Lord Krishna especially Butter.

Symbolism:Milk is a symbol of fertility and purity as its God's gift.

Connection: As Anjali is making Kheer with Milk, She will be pregnant soon.

The strength of their "Mehsoos" feelings of their presence is getting stronger and mutual as Arnav enters and stops by her breezy essence as it touches his soul and she stops at his breezy mist as it touches her heart and we stop at Piano Raba Ve... .They both know each others proximity but move forward being oblivious. As Divine power is determined to bring them closer ,she ends up in his arms as "Hamesha Sanmbhalta Rahoonga"[always take care of you].She frees herself up but he wasn't ready to let her go surprisingly as his hand is still on his waist.hmmm...😳

Pause here:Yellow Dupatta flies as Dupatta always fly with joy and happiness whenever Arnav is around. It represents his inner joy and peace which he gets when he is around Khushi and her touch is just a tranquilizer and does hypnotism on him and he does not remember his surroundings like after a long long time dry land gets the first rain drops and release misty smell and aroma in the air.Amazing thoughts behind this small jesture.

Symbolism:Color yellow

Yellow is sunshine. It denotes happiness and joy .In some culture it represents cowards and in Japan it represents courage.

Connection: It represents the happiness and joy of Arnav when he is near Khushi and same for Khushi.

The same for Akash as he was giving Di the yellow handerkerchief as his joy has no limit for seeing Payalji.😃

Anjali was making "Mala" of yellow flowers as she does connect to the second concept as she is a coward to accept and face the reality right away because of her blind beliefs until Khushi and Arnav will join forces to give her enough courage to come out of it.

They both were lost in each others' proximity for couple of seconds and both realized it too as she fixes her Dupatta in her nervousness while breathing heavily and he flinches with his desires but again wants to erupt his love with harshness as a defense but again Anjali saves the aroma of this moment .😊

Pause here:Anjali will always be a bridge in between these two.She will be a meditator and a true sister for both of them😊

ASR is not done with KKG as she wants to talk to Anjali and he wants to talk with her.His gazes on her surely indicates as he is seeing some concerns on her face and he never misses the opportunity these days to hit the hot iron so the burn speaks with tease and pain as he knows Khushi never sits on idle ,she retaliates as she is a fighter and thats exactly he wants. He wants her to fight so he can have the real reason to throw her out ...as otherwise he has no choice but go along...He does not have any idea how deeply she has entered in ASR's shell and he is adamant on as "ASR itna kamzore nahin joh eik larki keh khiyal ko dil se na nikal sake.."[ASR is not that weak who can't remove thoughts of one girl]...but can you? You couldn't do it when she was not near you and now????😉😊

Khushi seeks permission to go home early from Anjali but Arnav's revenge over her is not done yet as he wants to speak with her awww...but says in rage "Over time keh paise do Shauq se rukegi...[Give her overtime then she will stay.] Khushi just gulps this insult down by ignoring him,'Anjaliji hum aap se baat kar rahe hain ...phir bhi aap keh bhai ko yeh yaad dila dain keh har chees paison se nahin khareedi ja sakti[I am talking to u Anjaliji but stil want to tell ur bro that not everything is for sale]..He huffs back at her after her ignorance over him,"yeah right Har chees par tum..[everything but you]...Anjali and Nani both intervene and he walks away with ASR eshtyle.Love this angry yummilicious! 😉

Naniji,"humka aisa lagat hai ein sal humra har tuhar apke saath mana likhat hai"[it seems this year we are going to celebrate every event together]...Naniji favors Anjali and wants Khushi to stay by calling her Buaji.Buaji hesitates first as she thinks her "aafat ki puriya"did something wrong but then accepts the offer.

Pause here:Naniji is so right as Khushi celebrating all the events unintentionally together before marriage.Teej, wishing tree, Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami, Diwali,...even after marriage Khushi says to herself during Diwali,"hum Diwali tou phele bhi mana chuke hain iss ghar mein"[I celebrated Diwali before in this house]

Shyam and his plans to celebrate the event with Khushi "gaeiya Bhar mein"[totally ruined] as he does not want to accept this invitation by Naniji. But Buaji is right Shyamji "Aisa Mauka bar bar thore hi aata hai"[you don't get these chances everyday] After all you are Damad of RM and will not be present at this event with your wife and family...Not Nice after all "hum apke Bhagat hain..nirash na kijiye"[After all we worship you ,don't disappoint us] Arghhh...😡😡"Naam se Bhagwan aur Kam se Shaitan"[ by name God and by deeds Satan]

Symbolism:Reflection through glass applies here as he knows the whole picture but still remains unaware of true depth of its nature as he is never in the same frame. He is out when Khushi is in RM and vice versa.Divine powers of DM is really magical in this matter.

Love this parallel scene in between these two new lovebirds.Anjali tells her "Bhudooram" about Payalji and her arrival in RM.Really Akash you are shy more than girls.Seriously...If he is in Payalji's Khiyal [thoughts] so is she by faking being angry with Buaji for his Khiyal. So sweet.[I don't know nice parallel couple]👏😊

La's jealousy over Khushi is coming up to the surface. Love Mamiji about this dialogue,"Pahti saree ki entry huai Zabardast aur tumhai Zabardasti"[Your entry is forcefully but Khushi is welcome to this house with open arms] 😊 So so true...but thats why it is called FATE...

What a dialogue so true to nature as Khushi did enter first with her right foot in[pic of her entry first time] and welcomed by Anjali and then Nani. After that with Arnav's permission but again Anjali and Nani opened their arms for her but La's entry is not acceptable by Naniji or even by Anjali as she is doing it because of her Chote not because she wants to.

La is on mission to plan something .Lets see what that plan is tomorrow

MOMENT OF THE DAY

Raba Ve Fall

👏👏👏 great job Arshi!! abs ❤️ d your take and how you incorporated the essence of Lord Krishna bday. LOVED all in blue and purple was brilliant!

You're right that Shyaam was named after Krishna but to me it was nothing more than a name, and all those times he was able to get away with so much, i feel like sometimes bad guys have all the luck.Makes me think of the story of Krishna and Sisupala. He gave Sisupala a100 pardons before killing him...I feel like that's what he gave to Shyaam...not strength but chances.

anyway, GREAT TAKE!!!
just LOVE this line

he flinches with his desires but again wants to erupt his love with harshness as a defense

Episode 70 and 71 :
Now do you remember when Khushi started in the office what Khushi was told by Manju auntie- Imagine Lavanya is your saas and Arnav is your Pati. Guess how Lavanya was behaving- like Khushi's Saas. That too not a nice one. One who can not tolerate anyone in her territory. Anyways look at how she then was all limpid in front of her saas- which is Nani Jee and whom Khushi is supposed to think as Husband- Arnavji. Like a very traditional saas she was also playing the victim well. From the fact that she was trying to take all credit, did not even know how to wear a saree and was acting over-smart was complaining to Arnav against Nani, treating Khushi all reminded me of Manju auntie and saying about saas. At least she had the courtesy to wear a saree for puja. Even when she said to please Nani I can not lose ASR and can not stand competition from Khushi- made me think of Khushi saying- Kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi.
Speaking of which made me remember that when you really need it is usually your own siblings and loved ones who care for you rather then in-laws

Speaking of which made me remember that when you really need it is usually your own siblings and loved ones who care for you rather then in-laws. What Lavanya was behaving was actually far worse in my view then how Mami behaved, because Mami at least did not have the same background. My dad came from not a so well to do family compared to my mother. I actually appreciate that IPK was showing that what Arnav was behaving with Khushi was wrong and what La was behaving with Khushi was inexcusable. In any case, my dad still did not give up he in his field has a PhD and is a fellow of american association of engineers. Now if someone are from USA you would know that it is a high honor. However still I have watched people who used to come from a richer background still ridicule him and that includes my mother sometimes. In any case just because Khushi came from a poor background and them saying all those things, I wanted to say to La and Mami at least she is working to earn a living and not staying at home and spending time on her nail polish and jewelry. Sending two women in the middle of the night and telling that it is going to be a waste of petrol- seemed a very low. I am happy that they showed subtly that what Mami was saying was not nice.
All of them made me realize what my father must have felt when he had to go through the same treatment from others. I also was really appreciating my father because whenever I needed anything he was there for me and wondering I have done nothing for him compared to what he has for me. The best he did was he made sure we never went through what Khushi was going though. I have still have to see sometimes my mother ridicule my dad and his family for has background and was thinking my dad stayed with my mother for us. I remember once I was behaving badly with our house maid and my dad was really upset. Retrospectively watching I was thinking I must have touched a cord, because he was thinking himself in that condition. I actually respected Khushi because she too like my dad was working to earn a living, without resorting to dishonesty. I was respecting Khushi because she was not giving a tantrum because she is working accordingly because she needs that for her family.

I too had a father who worked 7 days a week, went to college when he was in his 50's, saved every penny, we never wanted for anything and when he passed we discovered him 'to be a millionare. I was shocked. He taught me a work ethic like no other. I can understand Kushi do anything she can to save her family.
Our fathers are wonderful men who did not get discouraged through any adversity. They worked through it like our Kushi. She could endure anything for her family! Thank you for sharing.

^^^

samin,

lovely post up there.

poverty is a really cruel thing. funnily, brings out the worst in those who have rather than the ones who don't. time and time again i have seen the terrible ill effects of having wealth. especially on the generation growing up in an already rich environment. i admire your dad his power to stay calm through it all, focus, and do what he had to do.

i am very close to someone who sometimes wouldn't get two square meals a day as a child. his family couldn't afford it. and i've seen him take the best lesson of not having... must find a way to never be in this situation. no money, but had the finest parents (now that to me is absolute wealth), so opted to take the path of real hard work and fairness out of the poverty. has paid off, am terribly proud of this person... and yes, even he suddenly goes all mellow and giving when a maid's needs come up. he tells me, till you go through the many nuances of not having money, you will never understand. i believe him.

in the case of khushi, you are right. i too love the fact that this girl is willing to work to earn a living. does not believe in hand outs or the easy way out. asr's harping on her being after money is possibly triggered by some memory of some woman (the story that never got told) but it is still not right. and the makers never present it as right which is wonderful.

this is one of khushi's tremendous strengths.

she honours work. 👏 👏👏

does not believe working for a living is something to look down upon.

actually, nor does asr, which is why he never stops her from working. commendable... usually in our society whena man is rich he takes it as an insult practically to his aukat if his wife works. also, she is treated as an object who is there to do his and his family's bidding... look good when needed... produce male heirs... never be an individual post marriage.

not so with asr. even that ridiculous mrs india track puts interesting words in his mouth about women and their abilities and their right to explore these, remain individuals not just become a role... wife.

la and mami were horrid at this point. la even more so, never perhaps having known the helplessness of poverty. and mami, having escaped it possibly wanted no reminders ever. personality... not necessary that being in a difficult state will make you a better person... other factors kick in too. in the case of khushi and the person i mentioned... the fabulous parents had a role to play in the mindset of the children. shashi gupta. an interesting man with evolved ideas about girls despite his poverty, despite his social milieu. suddenly remembered jyoti singh... her parents were similarly evolved and committed to their daughter.

how ipk keeps bringing us in touch with our real world. magic of its writing and committed performances i guess.

after watching episode 68, i was a bit surprised at my own response. i remember the first time i saw it, being completely enamoured of the krishna story telling by khushi. leaping around, on top a table one second, basket on head the next, everyone watching mesmerised, nature reflecting her recounting, crack of thunder, gust of wind, sound effects on cue, a feeling of ballet and dance drama, a play within a serial... the story of a father taking the eighth son of his wife to safety through calamity and miracles, his own uncle waiting to kill him... his protector... sheshnag... the behemoth serpent. oh i have heard this story so many times as a child, but nothing beat khushi's telling of it. sanaya irani, a zoroastrian, possibly never heard this story growing up, yet who'd believe this was not a part of her, so innocent her khushi, so into the moment, ready for the birth of little krishna. excitement gleaming in her eyes, even lavanya's complete lack of knowledge and interest not bothering her.

i'm not a Hindu.I also didn't know the story .But I still got enamored by the story. Khushi brilliantly conveyed it to us. Sanaya is sure and innate actor.the writer and the director are brilliant as well.

i was really looking forward to it, thinking that would be the high point of my 22 minutes of therapy. but somehow, while i enjoyed it, it didn't give me the zizz i remembered. happens i guess, even the best of scenes loses a bit of its glory as time goes by.

but not a bit seems to have dissipated when it comes to watching asr. in fact, i feel he is getting stronger every watch. that shot of him walking into the house, and sensing her. how corny if i describe it to someone. yet, how absorbing if you happened to look at the television at that moment.

Barun is brilliant. It's true he has grown so much as an actor in his journey of IPK. As IPK is indebted to him, he is also indebted to IPK for getting the chance to play magnificent ASR. You can say vice a versa. But ASR is an dream role for an actor.

we call it acting, but with barun it seems to be a case of becoming. i am not a television watcher, nor a major movie buff... yet this young man's portrayal of his material just takes me to another place. which is why i come here even now, why i joined something called a tv serial forum in the first place.

Same here I never can imagine I've spending half of my day in a daily soap forum. But Barun is too irresistible. and so as Sanaya. I actually love their chemistry.I don't know how will I like their individual future project

saw him years ago in shraddha. thought he had something about him. but the serial was too raw, too clumsy to really show us the qualities that ipk and asr finally brought out. i now go back and watch scenes from shraddha, bhph. he actually becomes swayam khurana in the sketchily drawn character, and then the better drawn but still not all the way there shravan jaiswal. have a feeling in all three cases, i include asr here, the actor really filled out and completed the character. of course, guided to a lesser or greater extent by the writers and directors, but the final push came from him. when i see swayam, i see this element more and more now. it always fills my heart. i can feel the ah growing inside. a certain sense of satisfaction. one might even call it happiness.
I already mentioned above that ASR is the finest character written with sheer perfection.Barun sure did full justic to it. I used to watch BHPH. I had an instant crush on him when I first saw him. But honestly speaking I didn't like him that much later. It's not him but the character. But in IPK he was outstanding. He already raised the bar too high for himself. So I wish he choose all his upcoming role carefully.

yes, hot damn sexy he is, and terribly awfully attractive, but what keeps me here, has me in withdrawal, is that becoming. an example in the shot above. i could feel what he felt.

he was sensing this girl. and somehow the flying strands of hair, so filmi and the language of another era of film making, the gust of wind swirling, studied pause in story telling, everything felt natural, normal, perfect. lasted a few seconds... made the episode for me.
Brilliant analysis.

the phone rang and she picked it up. her hello got a rude "kaun?" why were his eyes so bright, did he know that at her very thought he came alive? sanaya had the perfect come back, "kans??!" a really clever actor, she is one of very few women actors that i've seen who really has a sense of comedy. she seems to not be "acting" at all when doing this kind of thing. deadly timing, at times sharper than barun's. if only our serials had a space for an intelligent, cool female character. this eternal bahu playing, traditional, modern, whatever but clearly labelled and marked "bahu" or wanna be bahu, most tiring. especially for a pretty scary bahu like me. some day i would like to see these two together doing something totally different and opening up the world of characters some more for me.
Sanaya's comic timing is superb!
I also want to see them together in a different role. I wish it fulfills.

"di ko phone doh!" that rough, abrupt grating thing in his voice. i could dunk it in a hot cup of tea and eat it up happily. my perception and sensory abilities do crazy stuff around this fellow's work.

khushi is eating again. this time to get some courage, if not equanimity. she makes it to bravado, tries to talk to him. he of course is witheringly rude. my knees are turning to water.

have a feeling so are hers, only that her experience and sheltered life with very staid views of what's a good man, etc., just don't let her understand this is not kans, this is the man whose flute she hears, who rings her bell. again across episode played nat khat nand kissore. who is kans, who is shyam, come ons, tells me tells me, he seemed to ask us all.
We sure know who is Kans and who is Nand Kissore.

when khushi thought she had the upper hand, she tried to go into the offensive with a nicely twisted, turned, "suna aapne," eyes narrowing, voice getting testy. but before she could warm to the themes, a clear "beep," he's switched off the phone. one of the sexiest things i've seen in a while. ah this mistaken notion that sexy is taut muscles, bare bodies, visible skin. all some people have to do is switch off he phone with a certain look... fully clothed in, far away from object of desire, surrounded by loud, loads of not considered very sophisticated marigold garlands.

little krishna was in a seriously playful mood today, so he made sure some of his favourite butter fell just where he knew two people would cross each other's path. i will digress for a moment, have i ever said before how proud i am of the creatives and the mindset of this household that rahim chacha, clearly not hindu, is often seen handling food for the temple, entering the prayer area, etc.? no heavy discussion on this theme, but this clear message that one can value tradition and still be open minded, not segregating people on the basis of cast, creed, religion, gender, i love it. naniji was truly a woman who deserved to have a woman's day. this character made me super proud. dadi was her opposite... forget someone of a different religion, she wouldn't let a "servant" in to prayer space. she obviously knows nothing of meera, "mohe chakar rakho ji, " her song to krishna. somewhere, we are all serving, all servants of the eternal... that's the ultimate job meera seeks. as you can see krishna is playing with my mind too.
I loved you for this comment.
Nani is the most powerful and at the same time sweetest character of IPK.

but far more engaging, the rabba vey he has organised. asr walks into the house, khushi walks out of the kitchen, again lavanya becoming a cause of her reaching asr just then, just there. both know the other's nearby, only not exactly where. and two people stride toward each other at right angles... she slips on bal gopal's stolen butter and lands in kans's arms. another pretty ridiculous to describe, but impossible to look away from or not feel, embrace. drink to me only with thine eyes, and i will pledge with mine (to celia by ben jonson). i sat and got tipsy watching the two, a smile easing onto my lips. i mean, shouldn't i be reading shakespeare or something or maybe saving the world? at 53 surely there's a nobler pursuit. what can i say? i was happy, hope that counts in some way toward all good things.

Hahaha. we are nurturing our literary talents not through Shakespeare but through IPK.😆 I'm a business student. But i love Shakespeare. After reading your brilliant writing I repent why I didn't study literature. Anyway never too late.I still have time. 😆

then that yellow veil floated down.

why, i wondered. later when akash came and proceeded to look sweetly smitten he clutched a yellow material in his hands. why, again i wondered. maybe yellow has some meaning, something to do with ties... yes, of course colour of haldi (can't say that word now without thinking of a cheek coming close, stubble in nat khat mood)... and haldi is an essential part of wedding. or maybe, the director simply liked the red/green/ yellow colour combination. needs a ponder.
Didn't you read in Arshi's post? She told the significance of the color yellow.
Uff the Haldi scene was too hot!

he was mad at her, how lovely. and was about to start of, "tum..." but di interrupted them and they went their own ways. but when khushi asked di to give her a mo, he just had to turn back and look at her. for. no. reason.

maybe that look back got him even more gussa. when talk of khushi staying back started, he appeared out of nowhere to just insult her for no reason, "overtime ke double paise offer karo... shauk se rukegi," offer her twice the money in overtime, she's stay back.

khushi was in no mood to take it, so hurt though shew as, she shot back via anjali, everything can't be bought with money.

yeah right, har cheez, par tum. not everything, but you...

this is full frontal attack. she has riled him... neither she knows why, nor he... but she can feel it, and he, oh yes, he can so feel it.
I think, he was mad coz Khushi placed the shart not to see him during her working hour.

Awesome analysis as usual.
Bold lines I loved most.

episode 69

come to think of it, la's instinct was right. there was a thief abroad. to catch it however, you don't call the police. you don't call anyone. you simply watch and hope some day you'll be stolen from just like this, in broad daylight, before all eyes.

today, while the whole family got ready to celebrate the birth of one of the most intriguing figures of indian thought, the eclectic vishnu avatar, krishna, love came to take what it thought was its, without seeking any permission whatsoever. such is the way of love. and perhaps this insight into its nature gave birth to the rich and beloved love story of krishna with his paramour radha. curiously set outside the boundaries of conventional norms, the love of the two, who met as children, separated, married other people, but continued to be lovers taking this emotion to its highest and most breathlessly immortal extent, this tale of prem, is sublime and so complete, it never occurs to most of us to turn around and say, " hain? how come"? even though many of us hear while growing up, that radha was krishna's mami.

the other love that comes to mind when gopal is mentioned is that of his mother's for him and his for his mother. his adopted mother... yashoda. i get goosebumps even thinking of this relationship. the many questions and playful love seeking of the little nand kishore is subject of lovely songs, stories, dances, paintings, and a part of growing up, grand mother's tales, memories. my mother's generic name for all of us siblings was, yes, "gopal." of course, she had to be kinda pleased with you to call you that.

both these loves were there today. as asr's eyes told many things at the mention of his mother, and again as he looked at khushi. he knew of that first love of his... it stayed in his heart, and in its intensity and purity it practically defied death. a son's love as full as a mother's.

his feelings for khushi, on the other hand, he was not really aware of, yet they were clearly in place, and love was quietly stealing his heart and giving it to a girl with a smile in her eyes, a happy giving heart who nonetheless had only the most bitter words for him on her lips. but what was in her heart? ha, there again the thief was up to its tricks. the clever cosmic lover had taught love well.

did someone who grew up in a very krishna environment write this tale? some day, if i get a chance, would love to find out from the creators how much of their own beliefs and desires and myths seeped into ipk.

another beautiful thing, story always moves in two layers, sometimes more. like a river. the surface is visible, flowing in a particular direction, but below it is another story rippling, gurgling, playing with thoughts, jumping over memories, going to meet the ocean and become part of its being.

the second underlying story was my killer today. as always it was short, pithy, and a complete knock out.

started with a prologue.
he came down the stairs as his sister walked up to him with a dejected air.

in an instant he knew why. jeeja ji. khushi was teaching la to set up the birth of krishna tableau.
he turned hearing her voice... looked at her and...

hey hey... the beautiful music device that hints at the state of his mind. what's happening to him? this call...

"tumhe yaad hai chhotey...?"

his sister recalled the time as a child he'd put glue in the cucumber which cradled baby krishna and he was stuck there. ah so asr had done this to bal gopal? maybe that's why he's planned such sweet revenge?

how angry ma was that day.

his eyes which were on khushi, came in a fluid motion to di, and then got lost in the memory of his first true love. struck me as interesting that shift of feelings. as though there was a connection there. his love for khushi and his love for ma. much later, sitting in a garden dedicated to his mother he would make her his wife, his ma's bahu, that is all the ritual he needs.

"dant hi nahin, maar bhi padi thi."

not just a scolding, got a beating too. touching clean delivery. eyes remember, caress and feel, then come back to reality, "meeting hai..." got a meeting, got to go. the little eye movements had said much. somehow i felt janmashtami is particularly painful for him, he just misses his mum. which is why, he'd rather stay away.

as he walks out, she sees him. and in classic khushi vein, delivered with sanaya's talent for funny, she goes in her head,"laad governor kahin ka, hoonh, pata nahin kis kis ko dara ke aa raha hai... aur kiss kiss ko daante ja raha hai..." laad gov, wonder who all he has scared and who else he is off to scare. just before this he was particularly nasty to her, calling her a gold digger again. but notice how, she never takes the awful things he says that seriously. why? is it because her heart hears the unsaid, and doesn't get so freaked out? and then of course, there's her typical fending off of the blues by catching some fun and throwing it on the gloom and doom.lovely dialogue, from the talented mr kevaliya (or whoever wrote this one), naughty those 4 "kisses" in the sentence.

he looks at her. and all that flows in him is a feeling... its mesenger, rabba vey.

"bye" says he softly to di, his mind still soaked in memory. me dead.

a little kurta giving and not really taking, as always, with di.

he again looks at her, then leaves.

krishna is being set up. or is he setting up his leela? his game?

the story.
"ek minute, nani,"

he walked back into the scene amid turbulence. cops at the entrance, whole family standing there, tense. khushi has tears in her eyes. there was talk, some anger, some suave managing of the situation by the tycoon of raizada house, a "scene" superbly averted by the grandmother. she possibly had taught the tycoon many of his management skills and his straight forward, courageous handling of things, and bequeathed some stubbornness while at it. all that really registered was this.

(i had a feeling he knew she was at the centre of this fiasco.)

and then came poignant moments, not in some beautiful wood of vrindavan, right by the staircase at shantivan it took place.

he sees her wiping tears... she's turning, he pretends he didn't see a thing... walks away. rabba vey builds, he goes up the steps and stops, turning to look back.

a whole love story got told in those last few seconds of episode.

☯️

think the police could have caught this thief?
anyway, some other prem kahanis from 69.

"payal ji, humne aapke banaye huye pede khay..."payal ji, i ate the sweets made by you... what he was saying really: you are the sweetest thing ever, when i see you my heart leaps up, other parts of body also do things.
finally akash said something. and payal, isn't she a little bit more bold though than him, gave him this intense look.

bua and mami stole a few moments of lau with some trading of insults and lakshmi talk. their cupid is the goat for sure. missed kaal, bet that has major meaning. "ah ee ghar mein toh bahut jeeb jantoon hain," buaji's, yes this house has lots of animals, had me giggling. my family and other animals and durrell came to mind.

my super love for nani grew. what a woman. when she took guarantee of khushi, oh the look on the innocent young girl's face. and that stylish handling of situations... with authority but with grace too. the way of the previous generation. how to be assertive without being aggressive... instead of reading management books on it, one should just see the matriarchs of yore. despite all the pushing down of women, they somehow managed to rise... and rule; and bind their fams with tough love.

ok, today no place for hate... so no shyam.

just one last thing, so la really thought lauki was cucumber? asr, tsk tsk.
