Hey guys, this FF has really come along and it's almost coming to an end. There are only 3 chapters left to this FF. I can't believe it's almost over. Chapter 12: Set Fire to the Rain

Taani was holding her head in agony. She heard Rey laughing hard next to her as the hit her head repeatedly on her clipboard as she heard the screeching sound from the stage.

"Please stop!" Taani said not being able to take what this girl thought was singing. "Thank you for coming out." she said dismissing her.

"Rey this is not funny!" she said throwing her pen at him. He just looked at her and laughed.

Swayam said, "There are so many people left and I'm willing to bet if this is anything like dance auditions a lot more than half are going to suck."

Taani glared at her brother and sarcastically said, "Thanks Bhai that makes me feel so much better."

"At this moment we have Arjun on drums, we have a guitarist and a pianist, but no other singers." Taani said groaning. "And on top of that everyone wants to sing Too Close and they all are killing the song, butchering it! If Alex Clare heard it I think he'd rip his own ears out."

"Well if anything you still have Rey, Sid, Nil and Vicky." Sharon said trying to make her feel better.

"But Sharon Sid, Nil, and Vicky are not experienced with actual singing with instruments, and besides who knows if VP will even allow that." Taani said.

"He might not allow all of us but I'm sure he'd allow Rey." Sid said knowing that Rey was a qualified singer.

"Alright next contestant." Taani said not wanting to discuss this failure anymore. She watched the stage as two girls she knew from her class, Kajal and Payal, came on stage.

"Hey Taani we're gonna sing Too Close." Kajal said sitting on the piano as Payal brought a guitar.

Taani prayed that they sang good because she liked those two girls and they were her friends in class.

"Here we go again." Sharon said grimacing as if she was bracing herself for the bad singing. But all of them were surprised by what they heard.

A beautiful combination of the guitar and piano floated to their ears, acting as a soothing relief from what they had been hearing.

Kajal started singing first, "You know I'm not one to break promises. I don't want to hurt you but I need to breathe."

Payal took over and sang, "At the end of it all you're still my best friend. But there's something inside that I need to release."

Kajal again sang, "Which way is right, which way is wrong. How do I say that I need to move on."

Both of them came into perfect harmony singing, "You know we're heading in separate ways."

Taani was already impressed but when they sang the chorus she knew that she had to have them, it didn't matter who sang after them, if she had great singers after them she knew she that there was no way she was letting go of two amazingly talented singers that she actually did get along with.

"And it feels like I am too close to love you. There's nothing more that I can really say. I can't lie no more, I can't hide no more. Gotta be true to myself, and it feels like I'm too close to love you. So I'll be on my way." They finished as Taani smiled as everyone in the audition room clapped.

"That was perfect!" Taani said, "You're in, I don't care about waiting till tomorrow you both were absolutely wonderful and you play instruments, you are in. I've heard so many awful versions of this song and yours was just refreshing! Welcome to the music department. You both can come and sit with us, you are officially part of our department." Taani said in excitement as Kajal and Payal smiled widely.

"Thanks Taani," They both said before they left and excitedly walked over to where the gang was. They all already knew each other from class and now all of them were talking congratulating the girls on their singing.

"Next," Taani said as she went through another batch of horrible auditions.

"Taani relax, everything will be okay." Rey said holding her hand, rubbing his thumb over her hand soothing her.

"I better be getting my pizza." Taani said pretending to be grumpy.

Rey chuckled and brought her hand to his lips, "I promise."

Taani smiled widely as she usually did when she was with Rey, and both of them didn't even realize that they were smiling like idiots at each other.

"Rey, Taani!" Swayam said not believing that they were being lovey dovey in front of him.

"TAANI AND REY YOU BETTER STOP STARING AT EACH OTHER NOW!" Swayam yelled finally getting their attention as they both looked at Swayam shocked.

Taani and Rey looked at each other and started laughing, "Sorry Bhai." Taani said as she kept giggling. They continued on with auditions as a few more bad auditions came their way.

"Next," Rey said as Taani was taking a break from speaking. They looked up and saw Akansha there and Taani smiled.

"Hey guys, I'm going to sing Set Fire to the Rain by Adele. This one is for you Taani, because both of us can relate to this." Akansha said as Taani nodded knowing that the reason she was singing that song was because Taani was humming it today in class when she was thinking about her dad. Akansha turned around and put the music on the laptop that was there and began to sing.

Taani thought about her Dad, how safe she felt with him when she was younger. How excited she used to get when she would get to visit him.

Taani couldn't help but feel all those memories go away as she remember how he treated her when she came to visit, she remembered those nights she spent with her step dad awake and crying. She remembered her Dad with a gun aiming at her back.

Taani closed her eyes, breathing out the last amount of pain she was going to feel for that man.

'Cause I knew that that was the last time, the last time.

Taani smiled and opened her eyes, she was done with her father. He was behind bars, and she knew that nothing would ever change him. Infact, she was happy now she could gladly introduce her dead step dad as her father instead of her alive dad who was nothing to her anymore.

Taani watched everyone's face as she finished and couldn't blame them. Akansha had one of the most powerful voices she had ever heard. She got up and started clapping. "You're in." Was all she could say to her.

"That's it, not more auditions, Akansha you are perfect you are in." Rey agreed with her as they all stood up to leave.

Later on during the day Taani had picked her musicians, there were at least 20 people in the music department, some that were just into instruments, and others that were actual singers as well.

It was dance rehearsal time as the gang got together in the rehearsal hall and tried to figure out what their routine was going to be. Along with the gang a few singers were present, because they were the ones who were going to sing for the dance. Even though VP sir said that the rule didn't apply anymore because the fights were over with, the gang was looking forward to it and decided to stick with it.

Kajal, Payal, and Akansha were sitting with the gang as they looked back and forth as all of the gang were trying to decide on a song. "How long do you think this is going to be going on?" Akansha asked the other two girls as she watched the gang argue about a song.

"Not sure but why don't they use different songs instead of deciding on one, that way all requests will be taken into consideration." Kajal asked getting Taani's attention.

"That is a good idea." Taani said to herself as she heard Neha say, "Can we do a SRK song please." She shook her head at Neha's craziness and decided to shut the gang up before their fights turned into a girls against boys thing again. The last time that happened Taani wasn't allowed to meet Rey for the entire day and they ended up meeting by the teacher's bathroom so they wouldn't get caught.

"I have an idea." Taani said grabbing the gang's attention. "We can do a medley of songs together." Taani said, "But those songs will have a meaning to our dance, we'll tell a story through our dance." Taani said smiling as she saw Neha get excited.

"Like a small film?" Neha asked.

Taani laughed and said, "Exactly, we'll put together a story and we have Neha with us, theater is her forte."

"I guess but we only have two months to prepare what are we going to do?" Rey asked her.

"The one thing that everyone has seen, whether they like this type of story or not, they always appreciate it."Taani said smiling as everyone looked at her confused.

"Horror," Nil said.

"Comedy?" Vicky asked.

"Mystery?" Simi asked.

"OMG WE'RE GOING TO DO A SPY THEME AREN'T WE!" Sid asked making every gawk at him like he was crazy.

Taani shook her head and decided to tell the gang before any other crazy ideas popped up, "A love story!" she said smiling as all the girls agreed and the boys looked indifferent.

"But," Swayam said as Taani interrupted him.

"Think about it, two people meet and fall in love instantly. Two college students meet at a party and dance together all night long and they are in love. But then they find out that they are in rival colleges during the party and realize that no matter what they can't be together without a second chance the guys leaves the girl not looking back, then the second song comes on. They both are depressed without each other, and the girl feeling the rejection more because he left her she dances out her feelings of being betrayed. Then the third song comes on when both of them realize that they can't be without each other, and they get together forgetting about everyone else, setting an example for their colleges. They dance their hearts out and are happy to be together. He promises her that he will come for her, he promises her that he will marry her, but time goes by and she doesn't hear from him. Then the day comes that he comes with his college friends and meets her, not only do they stop the hatred between the two colleges, but their love triumphs all as they get ready to get married." Taani finished grinning knowing that she had their attention and that they all liked the story she narrated.

"Wow," Rey said hearing her narrative, "We can do this."

"It could be a story through flashback, until the end when they meet again." Taani said.

"That is a brilliant idea." Everyone agreed.

"Alright, let's get down to business, singers you get your voices ready, musicians warm up your instrument, and dancers, decide what choreography is going to go with each song." Taani said and for the next three hours the entire gang worked on figuring out the songs and how they were going to sing it.

It was night time and Taani was waiting by Rey's bike waiting for him to get out of the locker room.

"Yeh Rey bhi na," She said to herself, "Takes more time to get ready than a girl!" she said leaning against his bike.

Rey had finally come out of school and he walked up to Taani placing a kiss on her forehead, "Hey sweetheart." He said smiling at her.

"Rey you're so late! I'm so hungry and I want my pizza." Taani said frowning slightly.

Rey looked at her cute expression and chuckled, "Taani you and your food, god bless that soul that would ever take the brave mission of coming between you and food, they'd definitely be murdered by you." He said earning a glare from Taani.

"Alright, alright come." Rey said holding her hand dragging her back towards the school.

"Why are we going back to school?" Taani asked, "Oh hell no, Rey we are not doing any more work I am freaking hungry." Taani said stomping her foot making Rey look at her and burst out laughing.

"Taani we are not going back to do more work." He said shaking his head at her. Then he completely cut off her vision by putting his hands over her eyes, "No peeking." He said as he led her up to the terrace where the pizza had just been delivered.

When Rey took his hands off of Taani's eyes she couldn't believe what she was seeing. It was the same college terrace, expect it was filled with flowers, and her favorite flowers white lilacs. She saw and smelled the pizza and finally felt good about the day, she couldn't wait to eat her pizza but before that she turned around and looked at Rey shocked.

"Yeh sab?" she asked him confused.

Rey gave her a lazy grin and wrapped one arm around her shoulders and the other around her waist. "Well, I had promised you a date once a week and last week I didn't get to take you on one, and this week is ending and I haven't been able to take you on one as well and I thought what better place than the terrace of the college that we met each other at."

Taani could only stare at him in awe. She kissed him quickly and said, "I love you." He smiled and kissed her back.

Rey then pulled her towards the table he set up and sat her down, "Enjoy your pizza.
he said as he saw her grinning at the pizza. And in one step she had picked up the pizza and already taken a bite out of it. "You and your food and Psych, my girlfriend's completely insane." Rey said shaking his head.

Taani just beamed a smile at Rey as she continued eating. Rey smiled at seeing Taani happy and smiling again and felt like his entire life was dedicated to making her happy. After what happened yesterday he knew that she wasn't okay, even though she was trying to show it and sitting there right now he knew it was safe to say that she was happy with him and he was the fortunate one that was able to make this beautiful girl smile.

Taani grinned while eating her pizza and said, "So good!" She looked at Rey who was smiling at her and smiled back. He was the only person in this world that made her feel happy even in the lowest point of her life, and no matter what she would always love him forever. He was the reason she was still existing, and without him, she wouldn't be able to function. "I love you Rey." Taani said suddenly making Rey look at her perplexed. But Rey knew that Taani needed him and he knew how much he meant to her so the only thing he could say as their magical date continued was, "I love you more than you can imagine."
