Ram Kapoor chats about issues concerning his body, films and how TV limits him as an actor

Ram Kapoor doesn't really have the conventional figure it takes to get into the film industry. However, that has not stopped the actor from carving a niche for himself in Bollywood. The actor,

in fact, admits that his bulging physique has sort of become his USP now. "I don't want to work on my physique, absolutely not. It has already become a brand," says Ram.

The 37-year-old actor who has worked in TV for about a decade now, believes that there is not as much scope to do varied roles in the medium as there is in films. "As an actor, I want to do a range of things. In television you don't get to do that", says Ram. However, the medium did serve as a great stepping-stone, and helped him bag Student Of The Year (2012). "I don't think it comes easily to anyone. You have to work hard in this industry. I have done my share of work to be able to bag better offers," says Ram.

The actor further insists that he was only into televison for such a long time, because he was not getting better work in films.

"I just wanted to do good work. So be it film or television, I will do it. When I used to not get good work in cinema I used to happily do TV. Now, that I am getting good work in cinema, I am focussing on it," he says.

Ram, who is now set to play the lead role in Yash Raj Films's Mere Dad Ki Maruti, is extremely excited about the character he plays.

"I play the typical Punjabi dad, who is a fun loving, light-hearted person. He loves his family but gets very angry with his son as he feels that he is a moron. So when his son loses his car, he gets even more upset! That's where the comedy begins."
