Get your water-samples and be out within 15 minutes. Can u manage that? Hmmm , Manyata nodded unconvincingly. NO , u can't manage! I'm coming with you!!! No Veer , I can't let u do that ; I have to do this alone , it's my responsibil ... Ssshhh!!!
Manyata kept quiet immediately. She remembered her talk with Roopa Aunty from earlier that day. "VEER IS A SEPERATE PERSON . VEER IS NOT UDAY!" Then , why does he do the same things as Uday , she thought. No ... I must stop looking for similarities between them. I need to distance myself from Veer. No matter how attracted I am to him ... I need to remember that HE IS NOT UDAY!
Veer - this has nothing to do with you. I can do this by myself. I am very capable. I know that Angel ... I have full faith in you. But how would it look to an outsider , that an able-bodied , fit , ex-soldier ; is just standing by ... while a guest at his home , decides to put herself in danger for the betterment of other lives? Manyata gave in at once. It seemed that Veer was just as stubborn as Uday ... and there was NO WAY that she'd win this fight.
Roopa Aunty was very shocked to see Veer up so early. He had formed a habit of only waking up at 7:30 but now , he was up ; an hour earlier. Very important work Mom. I'm accompanying Manyata to carry out an urgent task. His mother was not too pleased about his idea , but she knew that there was no use arguing with him about it. At the end , he would get HIS WAY ... as always.
Manyata dressed in a T-shirt & jeans. It was quite shocking for Veer to see her in western wear ; but still he complimented : Angel ... u make that jeans & T-shirt look classy! She couldn't help but blush. He threw her a helmet for his bike. Are we going in this? ,she asked in astonishment. Yep ... is there a problem?
Of-course , there's a problem! I can't sit so CLOSE ... she stopped talking & Veer understood. Shall we walk? She happily nodded. Many people stopped to chat to Veer , and to introduce themselves to the Princess of Devgarh. All of them were very surprised at her humble nature and complimented her on it. This made Veer , feel very proud.
Good-morning Sir , came a greeting from above. Manyata and Veer looked up at the flat , to see a child waving from the 3rd floor. She made a sign from there , for them to wait; as she rushed down to meet them. A smiling , little , 12 year old girl stopped in front of them ; breathing heavily from all that running. Good-morning Sweta , smiled Veer and the girl blushed immediately. She opened a book , she had in her hand ; and presented it to Manyata ... Yuvraanisa' - autograph please! Manyata obliged her while Veer teased : Sweta ... tumne kabhi hamara autograph nahi maanga. Sir - aap har din dete ho! Veer looked confused. Sir - everyday , at tuition ; when u mark our books ... u sign your name at the bottom of the page! VERY CLEVER , Sweta , Veer laughed as he patted her cheeks. Manyata & Veer walked away , but Manyata turned back to see Sweta holding her hand on her cheek (the spot where Veer touched). It was obvious , Sweta had a major crush on her very handsome tutor. Manyata smiled to herself.
Veer & Manyata had almost reached the border , when he stopped suddenly. His eyes were fixed on a lady , standing at the bus-stop. She was pregnant and she was carrying a bag in 1 hand and a 2-year-old toddler in the other. Veer rushed off to help her. He took the child and the bag from her and waited there with her for the bus , which luckily came fast. After making them comfortable in the bus ... did he join Manyata again ; who was watching him with admiration.
The soldiers led them to the back of an army truck. Both put on their "protective suits" over their clothes. We look like astronaughts Veer , giggled Manyata. Angel - these are NOT astronaught suits ... they are "radiation suits" . There's a difference. This is called a HAZMAT SUIT! , he corrected her. Manyata stuck out her tongue to him , from inside the head-covering. U better put that tongue back inside ... or I COULD FIND A BETTER PLACE FOR U TO PUT IT , he replied naughtily with a wink ; leaving Manyata with a shocked expression and an open mouth.
Both then got into the food delivery van and got into Devgarh. Manyata gave Veer a sterilized , glass container, and kept 1 for herself. You get the sample from the dam ... and I'll get from the mine's seepage. She pointed out the dam for Veer and then went to the directiuon of the mine. A few health-inspectors were already there , doing the same thing that Manyata wanted ; so she hid behind some bushes ; waiting for them to go. Unfortunately , they took too long. By the time Manyata got her sample; the van that they had come in ... had gone!
Veer & Manyata met again , but now ; getting out was gonna be a problem. The soldiers that Veer had made all the arrangements with ; had left. Their shift was over and another set of militants were patrolling. If they caught Veer & Manyata inside Devgarh , DOING WHAT THEY WERE DOING ... they'd be in deep trouble ; and possibly even getting arrested.
Veer signalled to Manyata , that the only way out now , was through the barbed-wire fence. She agreed to go that route. When they saw that the soldiers were busy , both ran through the fence. Veer got through successfully , but Manyata got stuck. 1 Wire poked into her Hazmat suit and even ripped through her T-shirt ... and that was not allowing her to move further. Luckily Veer saw it , and came to her rescue and both got away just in time as a soldier looked in that direction.
Both removed their suits , and threw it into the garbage-pick-up truck that was passing by. Manyata did not notice , but quite a bit of her shirt was torn , exposing her shoulder. Veer saw the scar on her shoulder (the 1 Uday gave her when they were kids) , and couldn't help staring at it. It was very familiar to him. Manyata felt his strong gaze on her. She saw where his focus was , and immediately covered it with her hand. Where to now? , he asked ; trying to change the subject. I have to get these samples to Mumbai. I'll take you! No Veer , it's quite far and we can't go on your bike ... My friend Ajay owns a garage - he said that I could borrow any car , whenever I needed. Will that be alright? She agreed with a smile.

Great ... just great! Now , my day is ruined for sure!!! , Shivani told loudly to get Veer & Manyata's attention. Both turned to the sound of the voice and saw her walking towards them. She went closer to Veer, in order to kiss him good-morning ... but he backed away. O come on Veer ... don't feel shy ; just because we have an audience today! Before Veer could respond , she turned to Manyata ... I knew today was gonna be a bad day , but after seeing your face ... it is sure to be disasterous! What do they say : ahhh yes ... IT'S BAD LUCK TO SEE A WIDOW'S FACE EARLY IN THE MORNING!
Veer clenched his hand into a fist. He wanted to smack her as hard as he could ... but he was too late. "BAM!" Ajay slapped his sister so hard that her face turned the other way. Shut-up Shivani ... don't u dare speak like that again. Are u forgetting that our late mother was also widowed at a young age? How would u feel if someone spoke to our mother the way you spoke to Princess Manyata. Tears began to roll down her face. Apologise right now! SORRY! , she said before running off.
I'm terribly sorry about my sister , Ajay apologised to Manyata; who nodded. Veer introduced Manyata to his best friend Ajay. Pleased to meet you Princess. Manyata remembered Uday's final words ... Don't let anyone call you "PRINCESS" ; let that be MY RIGHT! Ajayji ... please don't call me "princess" . Okay , then i shall call u "YUVRAANISA" . Just call me Manyata , she stated. Ajay told Veer that he'll be going to Mumbai tonight as he needed to pick up a car-part from there. Veer also told him that they were headed that way. Then , let's go together , Ajay suggested and the others agreed.
Veer told his Mom about his forthcoming plans. She wasn't too happy about it and held her head at once. Mom - are u alright? She nodded but stumbled a bit as if she was going to faint. Manyata , too noticed it and spoke up : Veer - aunty doesn't look too well. Maybe u should stay behind. I can go with Ajayji. Veer agreed after a lot of persuasion. Angel - I would never let u go with someone u just met. But I know & TRUST Ajay. I know he'll keep u safe. She smiled and left for her room. Sorry Beta ... I had to pretend; I couldn't let u spend more time with her , Roopa Aunty thought to herself.
Manyata was missing her baby terribly. She had avoided talking to the child through the web-cam for the last 3 days ... but now , she was dying to see Megha's face. Hi Sweetheart. Hello Mamma's Princess. The girl jumped in Unnati's lap, in excitement. She held out both her hands , for Manyata to carry her. Baccha , I can't carry u now ... but Mamma will be back home in a few more days. Then Mamma & Megha will play & talk & play & talk & play & talk. Okay Baby ... Mamma has to go now. Bye Doll. Megha's mouth started to turn the other way in sadness. Then she burst out crying. She couldn't understand, why her mother is not taking her into her arms. She continued looking over Unnati's shoulder at the computer-screen and tearing , as Unnati walked away. She held out her hand for her mother to take it ... but that was not possible. Manyata wanted to talk more to Unnati , but after seeing her daughter's condition ... she shut off the laptop.
She sat on her bed and burst out crying. Mamma is sorry , Baby. I wish I could come to you right now , she sobbed. She looked at the water-samples lying on her table. I hope all this gets sorted FAST!
Veer knocked on the door , when he heard voices. When she didn't answer , he opened and entered. Angel - what's the matter ? , he asked when he saw that she was crying. She shook her head and didn't answer. He kneeled down in front of where she was seated. He cupped her face and made her look at him. Tell me what's wrong? Fresh tears started to fall and he brushed it away with his fingers. I WANT TO GO HOME!, she said before flinging her arms around him ... HUGGING HIM! He rubbed on her back , to comfort her.
The hug eventually broke , to be followed by a long eye-lock. Slowly , slowly ; both came closer ... heads tilted ... and lips touched. Before the actual kiss got going , the sound of a car interrupted them. Manyata pulled away fast , grabbed the 2 water-bottles and ran downstairs to the awaiting car that Ajay drove ... leaving behind a bewildered Veer.
