Chapter 8
Geet was surrounded by Daadima's kitty friends and few of the family friends who had all gathered at the palatial Khurana mansion to congratulate and bless the newly wed couple. The ladies surrounded Geet like bees flock flowers, they couldn't stop gushing about the beauty that Geet is.
"really Savitri, you have chosen a gem for your grandson, she is so pretty!my god!"
"Savitri I must say that your choice is a class, next time when I go hunting bride for my grandson, I'll make sure I have you by by side."
"god has taken his own sweet time to create her, her features have been carved with perfection and niche."
"your grandson is really lucky to have her, she is a rare combination of beauty and elegance,I really envy you."
They all chimed relentlessly while Savitri Khurana couldn't help but felt proud.
Geet sat amidst all the ladies, in a red sari and jewellery given by daadi, looking like an angel from heaven smelling fresh as a daisy. She bit her lip occasionally to hide her nervousness. she knotted the pallu between the fingers while the ladies took turn to lift the veil that and had been covering her face and blessing and praising her. They gave her gifts ,kissed her on her forehead, welcoming her into the new life, new world. They tried every possible means to make her feel comfortable but yet she felt restless, her eyes through the veil searched for that one figure, the glimpse of that one man who was now her husband. She had embarrassed him in the morning and she wanted to apologize. He had felt at unease once he realized and had sauntered out of the room and now it was near afternoon but there was no sign of him. Daadima had told her that he had taken an off rather she had coaxed him to take one. She had even seen Adi come in with some papers in hand to get them signed but he had disappeared in the house somewhere. But where? If he was in the house where was he? Why was he hiding? She mentally scolded herself for her foolish behavior today in the morning,probably he was too embarrassed and ill at ease to actually come face to face with her, she thought.
She was in deep thoughts when daadima called in the helps to let them know, that they set the table as the guests would now proceed for lunch. She came near Geet and then led her towards the dinning area. They were all seated in their positions when Daadima told Geet that she had to make the first serving. When she about to start serving Maan made his entry into the room.
"This is not fair! without the groom you all have actually started eating,and Geet the first serving is meant for me, after all am your husband honey! I didn't expect that from you." He said that with a sexy smirk plastered on his face while his voice dropped to husky whisper when he came near Geet and said those words. His eyes danced with mischief while his face had an unusual glow. One that Geet couldn't identify with. She had seen Maan like that for the first time and it felt like he was teasing her and at the same time flirting with her. She looked a bit flustered and gaped at Maan as if searching for an answer while he made himself comfortably seated at the table.
The ladies,laughed and teased Maan and he too replied with wit and humor. Geet was at a loss for words. She was seeing a totally different Maan. In the morning he had seemed so awkward, he didn't know what to say, he was at a total loss for words. He couldn't lift his eyes and talk to Geet. On the contrary whenever he spoke he averted his gaze and he stuttered stumbled and faltered with sentences.
But now seated at the helm of the large dinning table was a totally different Maan who laughed at jokes, took jibes at the guests and enjoyed banter and whenever he was teased he returned the favor with something very witty. There was confidence written all over his face, while his eyes danced with mischief and their was a flirtatious grin plastered upon his face. It all seemed a bit odd to geet who was witnessing the spectacle with her large hazel doe eyes remained transfixed at her spot while she looked on at Maan. She was jerked out of her reverie, when Maan suddenly held her hand that had been resting on the glass top of the table. "Geet honey I know am irresistible and you love staring at my handsome face, but I guess we can carry on with our drooling session after lunch. For now lets eat, i mean sweetheart do you mind serving us with your lovely hands. I'm dying to taste! I mean am dying to taste some food, am too hungry" with that he winked at Geet and when he spoke those words they were laced with mischief and seduction because as and when required his voice dropped to sexy a husky tone stirring unknown emotions within her. Her teasing had left her startled while the guests enjoyed the scene and they hooted and cheered all along.
The ambiance in the dinning hall was now charged up. The ladies, who all the while had been praising Geet for her beauty now marveled the lovely pair in front of their eyes.
Geet now was all red from top to toe and her cheeks blushed furiously while she served food to each and everyone at the table. "What was Maan doing? Probably he is taking revenge for what I did to him in the morning. I embarrassed him, so he in return is doing the same, but like this! In front of all! This is very out of character for Maan." She thought while she went around the table.
It was now turn for Geet to sit the the table. Daadima implored her to sit beside Maan while she seemed a bit reluctant after what transpired a few minutes back and from what she sensed he was in total teasing mood. "Babaji please help me" with that she sat next to Maan.
Geet slowly nibbled on to her food she seemed deep in thought when Maan suddenly snatched the small morsel that she was holding between her fingers to eat and said "it's the first time that we are seated at this grand dinning table amidst our beloved family friends and daadima's friends and as per tradition on the first day after wedding the groom feeds his bride lunch with his hands and vice verse and we eat from the same plate, am I not right Daadima?" with that he turned to his grand mom who nodded in agreement.
Geet's eyes went from big to bigger to biggest and her cheeks that were tomato red now looked bloody red, "what is he doing? What wrong with him?" but before she had anytime to comprehend what was happening Maan was already holding a morsel in his hand beckoning her with his seductive chocolate brown eyes to open her mouth.
Geet slowly opened her mouth while she looked at Maan anxiously while he fed her.
Ladies chimed in unison " wow such love these to have for each other, kisi ki nazar na lage inhe."
When it was Geet's turn to feed maan, she with trembling fingers proceeded to tear a small piece of the chapati and dip it in paneer (cottage cheese) but just when she was about to feed him Maan held her hand and said in slow seductive tone "I like it sweet darling,give me some kheer" while his eyes moved to her lips. Geet was startled and shocked beyond description and she literally jumped at the words and moved back and in process the plate turned upside down spilling his contents on her sari while the glass of water at the side which was nudged by the sudden activity spilled on to Maan's kurta.
They both got up at the same time, while Geet was too flustered to do anything, Maan was busy wiping water from his white kurta. He looked at Geet who feared the wrath of his anger and looked between her lashes stealing a glance at him and she was thoroughly shocked to see that he was actually smirking his sexy smirk and even winked and the next moment he turned to the guests and said in his deep baritone convincing and cajoling voice "excuse me ladies, I guess my bride wants some private time with me so I guess we'll have to leave you all and return to our room, I hope you all don't mind".
The ladies ooh ahhed and hooted and cheered while Maan led Geet to their room holding her hand in firm grasp.
Geet couldn't lift her head and meet the amusing eyes of all the guests present and she simply followed Maan with her head bowed down and her eyes rooted to the ground.
They were now in their room and she was standing facing the bed while her head hung low and from she could hear Maan had bolted the door and his heavy footsteps were edging towards her.
She was ready, she knew that Maan was super angry with her and he would explode after what happened in the dinning hall. On many occasions she had seen him shout and scream at his employees at the office, she would clam him down then but now he was mad at her, now what?who will intercede now? He shivered and trembled while he came near and nearer. But why should she be scared after all what happened was his fault too, he did understand down there that his charade was embarrassing her, her red yet he continued. She thought ruefully while she felt Maan's hand on her shoulder,his breath fanning her ears,he turned her towards him and held her face up with his hands and made her look up at him. He was smiling and what he said shocked Geet beyond imagination, "Geet darling open your clothes, it's all soiled" when Geet did not respond, she nudged her and said bending,whispering close to her ears, "if you want I can help you" and his eyes beckoned towards the bathroom.
Geet couldn't take it anymore and she burst into tears, water cascaded down her eyes in torrent and she sobbed uncontrollably. She simply whispered "why? Why?
She had closed her eyes while she uttered those words and when she opened them she was Maan standing in a corner smiling at her.
He simply said, "c'mon get cleaned up, all must be waiting downstairs and at your rate they would definitely reach at a consensus that we are up to something while they are lunching, go get changed, no need to wear a sari, I'll explain that to the guests. I'll go wait outside" he said turning towards the door, then he stopped midway and said "or if you want I can help you with the sari" seeing her panic stricken reaction he simply turned around and began to leave when Geet's question rang in to his ears and he simply said, "because we cant' be friends, we were never friends and I don't want us to be friends anymore, now that I realize, it was my way of taking a step forward, but I went too far, never mind take your time while I'll take steps towards you and this relationship, because I want this relationship to work. And lease forgive me if i went overboard which i did"
With that he left the room leaving Geet flustered and confused as ever.

So that's part 8, I'll not be able to update till the 26th as I'm going on a short vacation with family. I hope you all will understand my predicament.
