Part 23...

"Oh, Shree has her number sir don't wor..." Chotu suddenly became silent without finishing the sentence as if he realised something.

After an awkward moment of silence, Chotu quickly spoke into the phone,

"Shree will drop Anika home sir...Okay...bye..." he quickly pressed the red button on his phone and turned to Shree.

"Why did you tell him I have her number?!!" Shree asked incredulously.

"I – I...it just came out of my mouth before I could stop it! I am so sorry Shree!!" Chotu said looking scared for his friend.

Shree looked straight ahead and slumped in the car seat. Will he figure it out? Shree thought and sighed, who am I kidding, it's Arjun sir – of course he'll figure it out!!

There was nothing much they can do now. Shree started the engine and headed towards Anu's office.

The ride from Anu's office to Chotu's house was silent. Chotu gave his friend a final apologetic look and got off while Anu moved to the passenger's seat.

"He doesn't talk much does he?" Anu asked totally unaware of the circumstances which made Chotu go quiet.

Shree glanced at her from the corner of his eyes and stayed quite. About a couple of blocks from her house Shree stopped the car and turned to Anu.

"Anu..." he started nervously and explained what happened a few minutes ago. To his surprise Anu became pale.

"It's...it's okay right? I mean it's just a cell number...we can just say I got your number because...I don't know...maybe..."

"It's no use...he'll know something is going on between us" Anu said.

"Something is going on between...but how? I mean..."

"I told him..." Anu said nervously.

Shree looked at her with surprise.

"You told him? Matlab? What did you tell him?" He was surprised, confused but at the same time for some reason his heart fluttered with excitement.

Anu though, was quite.

"Anu what did you tell him??" Shree asked again getting impatient.

She got out of the car and started walking up and down the footpath, fidgeting with her fingers. Shree watched her for a few minutes before stopping her. He held her by her shoulders and asked,

"Anu, what's going on?"

"Shree...I...I told him that..." Anu said gulping nervously.

"That?" Shree asked softly, prompting her to continue.

"I told him that...I am in love" Anu looked straight in his eyes as she said it and waited for his reaction.

"Shree? Shree??!!" Anu shook him holding his shoulders.

"You, you told him whaaat??" Shree asked blinking his eyes a couple of times making sure he wasn't dreaming.

"I – I told him that...I am in love...with someone..."

He looked at her with raised eyebrows, "You love? Who do you love???"

There was silence as Anu looked at Shree as if he was mad, "What do you mean who do I love? Don't you know?"

"How would I...WAIT...you love ME??" The bulb lit in Shree's mind and he had an expression on his face as if he just came to know he won the lottery.

Anu rolled her eyes and gave him an of course-who-else expression.

"Wow!! So, let me get this straight, Arjun sir knows that you are in love...with...with me, that means obviously Ri knows that you love me, Rathore sir most probably by now knows that you love me...so basically the whole world knows that you love me except for me??!!"

Anu gave him a nervous, guilty smile and shrugged.

Shree took a deep breath, held it in for a few seconds before letting it go. He wasn't angry; he was surprised and amused at the situation he was in.

"I am sorry Shree" Anu said in a tiny voice, immediately making his heart tug.

"I didn't mean to put you in this kind of situation...it was an in-the-moment thing and I just blurted out to bhai that..." She trailed off.

There was silence for a while then she spoke again.

"I know, I should have talked to you first...I am sorry" Anu spoke like a little kid would, when she made a mistake and got caught.

Shree on the other hand could not believe his luck. It was luck wasn't it, if the person you love also loves you?!

He smiled at Anu as it finally sunk in; he cupped her face lovingly and brought her closer.

"You should have told me that – first or not doesn't matter – but you should have told me that a long time ago" Shree said softly looking into the depths of her eyes.

"I love you too Anu. Always have...I just...I wasn't sure how you felt so..."

Her eyes initially widened with surprise but soon became soft as they mirrored the love and warmth in Shree's eyes. She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him while he slowly burrowed his face into her neck.

They stayed like that for a while, smile etched on both their faces and hearts pounding in excitement for the new relation they were about to start.

After few minutes Anu tried to separate herself from him but he didn't let go,

"mmhmm...abhi nahi..." He said and held her tighter.

Anu giggled, "Bhai ko nahi bataana hai?"

That made him separate from her and look at her, "Oh ya, we need to do that as well right?"

Anu nodded smiling.

"Unhe koyi problem nahi hogi na mujhse?" Shree asked nervously.

"I hope not! Agar hogi bhi toh we'll talk to him and make him understand..."

"What?"

"That we love each other!!"

Shree smiled and gently hit her forehead with his.

Precap:

"Kya hua?" Rathore asked as he went and stood next to Tanvi.

"It's...it's Shree..." Arjun said through clenched teeth.

Rathore, who understood immediately what he was talking about, raised his eyebrows in surprise.

"SHREE??!!" He exclaimed loudly.
