The paparazzi went frenzy on seeing the thirty five year old business tycoon, clad in black overcoat and a pair of glares, coming out of the black luxury sedan, holding five year old Neil's hand. The little boy, their son, was under the scrutiny of the page three media like any other celebrity child. Being used to all the pandemonium, neither the father nor the son paid any heed instead they turned to help Mrs. Khushi Singh Raizada. Neil watched as his father lent a helping hand and helped his mother out of the car. Sounds of flashes and clicks filled the air.
Out came Mrs. Raizada in a red overcoat and stilettos, holding a little pink bundle in her arms: their one year old daughter Anika. Arnav and Neil took the luggage while Khushi carried the baby bag on her free shoulder and together the family went inside JFK International Airport, New York. They had been there to launch their new international project and good thing, it was successful. Wherever they went, the media followed them. All their steps were measured. Everyone wanted tit-bits from their life, wanted photographs of the entire family and hounded for pictures of Anika. Afterall, they were one of the few rulers of the fashion world.
Arnav, protective as he was, made sure that his family was under constant protection. With bouncers all around them, they made their way inside the terminal for their private jet. Conforming all the procedures, they finally boarded their posh white jet to head back to India. They were greeted by the pilot at the entrance while Neil ran in to take his favourite window side seat. As the couple and the baby settled in the plush leather seat, the stewardess offered them champagne and the kid a mars bars. The flight was going to be a long one.
The plane took off, Arnav whispered in Khushi's ears. "It's time to go home.." he murmured, making Khushi blush. That phrase meant a lot more for them what than what the world could comprehend. Khushi, the sophisticated business woman, nodded shyly. Only Arnav knew this side of hers.
Time passed over the clouds and it was long before they touched the ground. Tired from handling Anika, Khushi fell asleep mid way with the baby in her lap. When a little turbulence hit, Anika got up and was about to start wailing when Arnav promptly took her from Khushi's lap and started soothing her, walking up and down the aisle. "Shh.. Shh.. It's ok.. Daddy's here!" he murmured gently into his princess' ears while cradling her in his arms. Neil, just like young Arnav, remained unaffected. He looked up from his movie screen to check what was wrong and went back to it without a word. Arnav smiled at the gesture, smiling at how he could see himself in his son.
It was now time to go home; a place that you could call your own. Saying that they had no ups and downs would be wrong. There were days when they fought and there were days when everything seemed to be falling apart but Arnav and Khushi, together, knew better. Hand in hand, they crossed every hurdle and now they were content with their small happy and healthy family. Arnav chuckled at his own thoughts as he resumed cradling Anika, watching the sun set in the clouds right next to his seat.
