CHAPTER 22:
Sam: Arjun??
No response yet.he keeps a hand on Arjun's hand. He takes it and touches Arjun's forehead. "RIYA..." He calls out. Riya comes running to the room.
"kya hua bhai?"
Sam: jaldi Dr. Batra ko phone karo... He's burning... quick...
Riya rushes to call the doctor while, Sameer keeps a wet towel on Arjun's head. Arjun shivers when it is placed and mumbles in his sleep. "Sh... Arjun.. its ok..."
Dr. Batra couldn't come to meet him due to some earlier fixed duties, so send Varun to Sameer's home. Varun was a bit shocked to see Riya over there, but the he smiled inwardly. Varun checks Arjun and looks a bit worried.
Va: temperature tho bohot high hai. aise kya hua ke unhe aise achanak kuch hua?
Sam: kal raath ko koi bure sapna dekha tha shayad. Bohot disturbed the, aur kaafi pain me bhi. Shayad is wajah se...
Va: ya its possible. Temperature kam karne keliya injection diya hai...agar kaafi time ke baath bhi kam nahi hua, tho hospital ke aur shift karna hoga. Waise aapke dost kaafi stress me lag raha hai. neend me bhi kuch kuch bol raha hai.
Sam: inke ateeth hai kuch aise Varun... patha nahi isne aaram se kab soya tha akhri baar... any way I hope kuch zyada problem na ho.
Va: lets hope so. Aur inke bandages bhi badalna hoga. Riya thoda garam pani mil saktha hai?
Ri: sure. Ek minute.(she goes to the kitchen)
Va: Sir, Riya yahi rahthe hai?
Sam: ha, mere saath hi hai. aur wo yaha ke aur transfer bhi apply ki hai. mien tho din bhar yaha nahi hoga. Tho koi tho yaha hona hai na, Arjun keliye. (Varun nods)
Riya brings in water, and Varun changes the bandage with Sameer and Riya's help. The medicine was taking its effect. The fever was lowering. Varun leaves them after everything. Sameer receives a call from office, related to the new case. Riya asks him to leave as his presence was needed over there. Sam assures to come or send anyone whenever she needs help.
Riya sits in Arjun's room for a while. and then goes to her room to get her lap. Its been a while since she had gone through her works. She scans the newspapers, and also some daily updates from various sources, checking to get anything related to Altaf's case or anything related to terrorist attacks.
In between she regularly checks Arjun's temperature and also notes the temp changes. She only left the room for kitchen works and was in Arjun's room for the rest of the time.
After a few hours, Arjun wakes up. Riya who was already in the room, places the laptop on the couch and moves to him.
Ri: kaise ho sir?
Arj: hm... better. Time kya hua?
Ri: almost 11. 30.
Arj: what?? Ithne late??
Ri: its ok sir, apko tho bohot thez fever tha. Doctor aya tha, aur injection bhi diya. I hope you are feeling better.
Arj: ya, better. Ithna sab kuch hua aur mujhe kuch patha bhi nahi chala.
He tries to get up and she help him. He winces a bit and touches the bandages. He looks at her enquiringly. "yes, Varun ne change kiya tha."
Arj: Varun??
Ri: well, Dr. Varun.Dr. Batra ke assisitant. Meer purane friend hai, so I know him well.
Arj: hm... (he is in pain while sitting up.)
Ri: I think apko bed pe rehna chahiye.
Arj: nahi.. wo.. mujhe washroom...
Ri: oh... ok fine, come I'll help you.
Arj: nahi. Its fine I can manage.
Ri: ya I can see that. ab zid chodo aur chalo... lagtha hai aaj kal ke sare ACP aise hi ziddi hai...
Arj: matlab?

Arj: wo tho hai, Sam tho hamesha zid karne me mahir the. Najaane mujhse kya kya karwaya hai. usse tho... (he stops in between)
Ri: kya hua? Rukh ku gaye?
Arj: kuch nahi... ab chale?
Riya supports him to get up. He tries to move away from her. She senses it. but it was difficult for him to keep up. She shakes her head and smiles. "Aap ka zid ka koi ilaaj nahi"
Arj: matlab?
She swiftly holds his wrist and raises his hand and makes him to catch her shoulder. He looked at her. She looked so tiny below his arms. "Ab chalo sir... its ok with me..."
He walks to washroom while she waits outside and later she takes him to bed. "Break fast le aau?" he nods his head.
He looks around and finds a paper on the table and he takes it. it had his temperature recorded every 1 hour by her. Why is she doing all these? He placed the paper back when he heard her coming. She cam back and she noticed his face wrinkling when he saw the food.
Ri: kya hua sir?
Arj: firse soup??
Riya smiled at him "don't worry. Ye bukhar wali soup nahi hai. achi hai...agar kuch chahiye tho jaldi teekh ho jao..."
"bukhar wali soup..." days flashed back from his eyes.
He was in bed with fever and she sat up all night attending him. He got up later in the morning and still she was by him.
"kaise ho Arjun?"
"better, Roshni.. kya tum kal raath se soye nahi ho?"
"kaise soothe, apko ithne thez bukhar jo tha."
"tho tum so nahi sakthe the kya? Dekh kya haal bana ke rakha hai?" he tries to get up and she helps him. He gently hug her while she places her head on his chest. "apne tho dara diya tha mujhe Arjun... kya zaroorath tha barish me bhigne me??"
"are Roshni, kya karu jab gunde barish me bhagthe hai tho hame bhi piche bhagna hoga na??"
She smiles at him and gets up. "ok ab jaake fresh hoke ayiye. Mien khana lathi hu."
She goes to the kitchen and when he is back from the washroom, she brings in his food.
"oh no Roshni... firse wo bukhar wali soup?? Mujhe nahi chahiye..."
"ye bukhar wali nahi, healthy wali soup hai. ab aajao, mien pilau aapko?"
he smiles cheekly and nods his head. She sits by him and takes a spoonful of soup, gently blows into it, and then brings to his lips...
"soup pilijiye sir..." He gets up with a start. It was not Roshni, it was Riya in front of him, with a spoon full of soup held near his lips. He catches her hand and pulls it down. "kya hai ye Riya?? Mien khud lelunga..."
"par sir, aap hi ne tho ha kaha tha..."
"kya??"
"aap soup nahi pi rahe the, tho meine pucha ke pilau... aap ne tho ha kaha tha..."
"wo... Kuch nahi. I'll have it myself." He takes the spoon and has it himself. She watches him for a while and goes and sits in the sofa.
A few minutes back, he was just looking on to the bowl, she knew he was missing something. That's when she asked if she should help him, and he gave a beautiful smile and nodded his head. And suddenly he was out. Riya now knew that he didn't say yes to her, but it was ro Roshni. She was wondering at this man's love. Kya koi kisise ithna pyaar kar saktha hai??
"Riya..." he called twice and still she didn't hear him. She was as if in a trance tooking at him. "RIYA??"
"ha... sir.. kya hua?"
"kaha kho gaye ho? Kabse bula raha hu? Lo finished it."
"good. Ok ab dawayi." He has it.
"Riya, wo... kal raath... kuch hua tha?"
"kya hua sir, aapne aise kyu pucha?"
"no, I remember Rathod near me... aur kuch kuch..."
"bhai kal raath bohot khush the, aapne unhe Sam jo bulaya tha..(Arjun looks at her with shock) aap dono ke problem ke bare me tho mujhe kuch nahi patha, par ithna tho zaroor jantha hu, ke aap dono abhi bhi bohot ache dost ho. Bas keh nahi parahe hai. bhai kafi upset bhi the, ye kehke ke unhone aapko bohot hurt kiya hai... aur..." Arjun cuts in between.
"Sometime later Riya. Mujhe kaafi neend aaraha hai." she knew he didn't want to speak about it now. So she stops and helps him back to bed and she goes to her laptop.
Arj: so you started to work?
Ri: ha thode bohot. Abhi thak officialy join nahi kiya hai. ay be within 2 weeks. Par thab thak, kuch dhoondne ke koshish mien hu. Altaf wala case abhi thak close nahi hua hai na!! wo jo pehle recruit kiya hua ladkonke bare me patha lagane ke koshish me hu.
Arj: good, maybe Shree can also help you. Baath karlena usse. Aur kuch patha chala tho bathana. Ek bar iss bed se uth jau... firse sab kuch shuru karna hai.
Ri: aur iskeliye, apko apne zid ko chodna hoga aur mere baath manna hoga. Are you ready for that?
Arj: ok, ready. Lekin Rathod ke tharah mujhe pamper math karna. I don't like it.
Ri: ok done. Ab aap sojao. Kafi heavy medicines hai. asar tho hoga.
And she was right, within a few minutes he was asleep.
After some time, she goes to the hall and calls her boss.
Ri: hi Sir, Riya here.
Boss: hai Riya. Kaise ho? So you are joining in 2 weeks. Right?
Ri: yes sir. 2 weeks baad, lekin mien meri works shuru kar rahi hu.
boss: then why don't you join now?
Ri: nahi sir, mere ek family friend hai, jinka accident hua hai. he is staying with us now. So I need some time. but don't worry sir it wont affect my work.
Boss: I know Riya. Isiliye mien tumhe force nahi kar raha hu. So as you said, Altaf wala case abhi bhi hai. ok don't worry ye work bhi secrect hi hoga, as you had done before. So go for it.
Ri: sir, saath me, mien ek aur case me bhi concentrate karna chahthi hu. Ek murder case hai, do saal purana.
boss: uss case me kya hai Riya? Do saal purana??
Ri: wo isiliye sir kyunki, wo kathil abhi bhi free ghoom raha hai. aur usne kafi sari zindagi barbad kiya hai. so I would like to go for it too.
Boss: ok Riya, you may go for it. just keep me updated. Bye.
She goes back to Arjun's room and keeps her laptop on her lap. She goes in for the archives of old newpaper, as goes to 2 year back. She looks at Arjun who was sleeping.
"sorry sir, shayad mien ab jo karna wala hu, wo apko bilkul pasand nahi hoga. I'm sorry"
And she types in the search box, ROSHNI ARJUN SURYAKANTH RAWTE.
