Hey guys new update 😊 Sorry it's kind of late, I've been a little busy at work. This update is...well to put it in one word intense, it doesn't have too much taarey but it puts the rest of the story into action. Hope you guys like it and hope its not too boring 😳 This update is dedicated to ladybird2020, sanayaluyza, and Sneha (mohit_monaya) for wanting me to update this so badly 😆😊

Chapter 5: Hall of Fame

Taani ran into the locker room still confused about what happened. She was in shock. Touching her lips gently she wondered if she had just dreamed what happened. Looking in the mirror she shook her head, she needed to be brave to make sure no one saw how shaken up she was. Straightening herself out she left the locker room to find the girls sitting there with grim faces.

"Who knows maybe this retreat will be a good thing?" Neha said feeling bad that everyone was so down.

"It is what we need, a clean start. Being forced together we can finally face our problems." Simi agreed.

Aashi looked over and saw Taani standing there. "Taani's here, come on let's go VP sir called us to his office to introduce us to the new counselor." She said. The girls walked up to Taani and they all walked in silence behind Taani.

"Guys something is off." Sharon whispered to the girls as they all noticed Taani's weird mood.

"This is not the usual angry at Rey mood, this is the something big happened that she won't talk about mood." Rini stated.

"Kuch toh hua hai." Aashi agreed.

Taani heard whispers behind her and turned around to find the girls giving her weird looks. "Are you okay?" She asked them as they all smiled at nodded. They continued walking still glancing at Taani trying to figure out what happened.

Rey was at the boys locker room where the guys were getting ready to go to VP's office.

Nil was the first to notice something was off with Rey and he knew it had to do with Taani.

"Hey Rey chal." Nil said pulling him away from the other boys. "Now tell me what happened."

"Nothing yaar." Rey said trying to put on a smile.

"Rey I know something happened with Taani." Nil said.

Rey looked at him and sighed when he realized Nil wasn't going to leave until he found out what happened. "We kissed." Rey said watching Nil's eyes go wide.

"Woah dude, you kissed Taani, Swayam's sister." Nil said.

"I know." Rey said with a small laugh. "And the worst part is that it wasn't a mistake for me."

"We all know you like her Rey, well expect for Swayam of course." Nil said.

"What?" Rey asked.

"Come on it's so obvious the both of you are in love with each other." Nil stated the obvious.

"Shut up." Rey said as they both joined the other boys and went to VP's office.

"Good you are all here." VP said as they all entered. Taani and Rey gave each other an awkward glance before looking away.

"Alright please welcome your new counselor Tanya." He said as Tanya came out to meet the gang. Looking as young as the AVP Tanya knew she would get along with the kids.

"Hey guys." Tanya said as they all nodded back to her.

"So as ya'll know tonight is the overnight retreat at the college so I expect you to bring your sleeping bags and whatever else you will need. It will be a long night, and by the end of it I know that ya'll will be friends again." Tanya said. "You may leave." Tanya said realizing that no one was saying anything.

The gang left the office and Rohan was the first to speak, "I can't believe this is happening."

"We're in it regardless so let's just get our stuff and get this done with." Vicky said.

"This wouldn't be happening if Rey didn't leak that video." Rohan said glaring at Rey.

"Excuse me, Rey didn't do it." Sharon said with her attitude not liking anyone talking like that to her best friend.

"Right and the sky is purple." Rohan said sarcastically.

"Enough." Taani said. "I don't want to talk about this anymore."

Rohan looked at her in awe, "But Taani."

"Rohan no this is between me and Rey and I don't want to have this discussion with anyone." Taani said before turning around and leaving.

Soon enough the day had passed and everyone was getting ready for the retreat. All the sleeping bags were ready as the boys had one classroom and the girls had another to themselves.

"This is crazy." Taani spoke to Aashi as they looked around and saw Anya and Rohan in a heated discussion.

"He's still mad at you?" Aashi asked her.

"Yeah but he's a big boy he'll get over it. Besides I spoke the truth, this is between Rey and me so no one else should have a say in it." Taani said.

"Of course not, Rey." Aashi grinned back with a wink.

"Shut up Ash," Taani said giggling slightly.

"Aashi I'm so hungry." Taani said with a grim face as she thought about all the food that kaka made at home.

"Oh god you and food, how do you eat so much?" Aashi asked," Forget that, so you wanna tell me what happened when Rey dragged you off to god knows where." Aashi whispered to Taani.

"Actually I think we all deserve to know." Simi, Rini, Neha, and Sharon joined them.

"Girls," Taani said before making a shocked face, "Are you stalking me now?" She playfully said as they rolled their eyes and laughed at her.

"Taani tell us what happened." Sharon said with a stern voice.

"Kuch nahi guys Tanya Ma'am is here let's go." Taani said not wanting to talk about their kiss until she could figure it out herself. "Besides I'm still hungry, hopefully we get to eat." Taani said making the girls snicker.

"Alright it's nice to see all the singers and dancers here." Tanya started to say as everyone sat around. "The first thing we are going to do is," Tanya started talking as Taani turned to Aashi.

"I hope we get to eat first." Taani said only thinking of food.

Aashi laughed and smiled, finally after two days of hells her best friend Taani was back, the funny, sweet loving Taani was back.

"Ms. Shekhawat do you have something to say?" Tanya asked Taani noticing that that she wasn't paying attention.

"No ma'am sorry." Taani said.

"Alright so the first thing we are going to do is work in pairs of two. The pairs are going to be: Aashi and Anya, Rey and Taani," Tanya went on naming all the pairs smartly putting a dancer and a singer together.

"Great I'm with her." Aashi said with a sullen look.

"Aashi be nice." Taani said even though she knew that being nice to Anya at times was not easy.

"Same goes to you." Aashi told her glancing towards Rey.

"Alright now that you have your partners, your first task is to say three nice things about the person." Tanya said.

"Rohan Swayam why don't you both go first." Tanya said.

Rey stood next to Taani both of them ignoring each other.

"You know we're going to have to talk about this at some point." Rey said.

"Why so you can make whatever I say go viral as well." Taani said sarcastically.

"I didn't do it Taani and deep down you know that too so why don't you stop being rude and actually deal with what the real problem is." Rey harshly whispered to her. "We both know what it is."

"Taani and Rey go ahead." Tanya said. Both of them stood there stubbornly. "Come on." Tanya said.

"Fine I'll go first; Rey is a conceited spoiled brat." Taani spit out.

"Taani is an insufferable arrogant'" Rey started to say but Tanya cut them off.

"Enough! Now try saying three positive things about each other." Tanya said watching them two glare at each other. As a counselor she realized that these two were going to great friends once they figured out their problems.

"Tough." Taani started using a noun to define Rey in an indifferent.

"Strong." Rey responded distanly.

"Proud." Taani said again.

"Passionate." Rey responded.

"Honest." Taani said looking Rey in the eye.

"Same." He responded.

The gang smiled knowing that the steam had been let out and that Taani and Rey were realizing their own faults again.

"Excellent." Tanya said with a smile knowing her work was done. "Now you both may take your seats." Taani and Rey looked at each other and sat in their seats.

"Now this next task is going to be different. Instead of working in pairs we are going to do individual confessions." Tanya said. "I want you guys to tell your true feelings about each other or about yourselves. I don't care what you say as long as it is something you can get off your chest. And until everyone is done no one can react or say anything." Tanya said.

"Nilesh you can start." Tanya said.

"Alright, guys uh you know I like rapping right." Nil started to say. "Well the truth is that along with dance Vicky and I," Nil looked to Vicky who nodded, "We stumbled upon a class where this guy was teaching beat boxing, and ever since then we started learning and it's like dance to us. We both didn't want to go straight home after school ended so we ended up going there, and Amar and Bharat joined us once we joined college. Rap and beat boxing is another passion of mine." Nil said as everyone stayed quiet.

"Bharat your turn." Tanya said.

"Abey mein kya batao." Bharat said but as soon as he saw her look he sighed. "Alright, I've been taking English classes." Bharat said in perfect English shocking everyone. "That's where I've been at night for the past year, I've been learning English and I'm about to pass my course and now I can talk like this." Bharat said looking at the shocked and happy faces of his friends.

Tanya smiled and looked at Simi who took a deep breath in. "Sharon, Rini, and I took singing lessons too. When Rey stopped going with Sharon she begged us to come with her, and although we aren't as good as you guys, we can harmonize well. Also I may be a bit of a fashionista. I like putting together clothes and not just in a way that normal girls do, I like making new designs and trying to figure out new ideas."

Next was Rini, "I like make up as you all know. But the true reason I like it is because I like art, I'm an artist. I paint oil based canvases and I enjoy painting like I enjoy dancing."

Aashi went next, "My confession," She said looking at Taani, "Alright, along with Taani I sing, but I've never sang for a competition, I sing for myself. Every weekend, Taani and I go to children's cancer hospital and teach the kids there music, give them instruments and teach them to play them and train their voices. We give them something to look forward to, something to help them through the pain they go through every day." Aashi finished smiling at Taani. Rey looked over at Taani and couldn't help but smile at what an amazing person she was.

Anya looked at everyone and bluntly stated, "I want out of dancing, I don't want to be part of the team anymore." Everyone looked at her and rolled their eyes as Swayam went next.

Swayam's turn was next and he started, "There is something I haven't told anyone. Ever since I joined this college, Rey and I have been going to the orphanage and teaching kids dance there. We wanted them to enjoy something, become passionate about anything and have something to look forward to. And Rey, he also taught the kids there how to play the guitar." Taani turned and smiled at her brother, wondering how she was so lucky to get blessed with a brother like him.

After them everyone had made their confessions until Taani and Rey were left.

"Taani, it's your turn for the confession." She said looking at Taani intently.

"I'm an open book, everyone pretty much saw everything yesterday." Taani said but when Tanya gave her a look she continued.

Taani sighed and said, "All my life I've hated dance, I think I blamed dance for the wrong that happened in my life. I love singing, music is my passion, and I'm good at it. But I can't deny the fact that dance was, still is a passion of mine. It is the only thing that can calm me down. With music I can express myself and with dance that expression comes to life. And Rey, I believe you." Taani said making Rey look up at her. "I've known you long enough to know that if you said you didn't do it then you didn't. And I'm sorry for how I told everyone about your singing." Taani said along with her confession.

Rey went next, "My dad as you guys know is a trustee of this college. He, he is a singer. But he never fulfilled his dream and he always pushed it on me. But his pushing became suffocating for me, so suffocating that I felt like he was only talking to me when he wanted to talk about singing. When he found out about my passion for dance, he completely shut me out. He didn't keep it a secret that he wasn't okay with my choice and ever since then I've hated music. I've hated it for causing a rift between me and my father, I've hated it for being the reason that I realized that my father was someone I did not want to associate with. But singing also was a part of my mother, and that part always stayed with me."

"Alright, good job everyone." Tanya said with a smile. "So you can see that you're all not so different from each other, why don't we all go eat and just hang out for the rest of the night." Tanya said getting up as everyone stood awkwardly.

They all went to the canteen and were ordering food and chatting when Taani suddenly gasped.

"Kya hua?" Swayam asked her.

"Bhai it's Wednesday!" Taani said her eyes wide open.

"So?" Sharon said as no one understood what she was saying.

"I'm going to miss the all new episode of Psych, I've been waiting four months for this!" Taani said with a heart broken face.

And just like that all the awkwardness between the group was gone and everyone started laughing. "Only Taani." Neha said laughing.

"Guys," Taani said happy that they were smiling, "I'm serious though, I can't believe I'm missing an all new episode of Psych."

"Taani it's your favorite show, we know how crazy you get about it. Don't worry I DVRed the episode in advance." Swayam said laughing at his sister.

"Guys you know we do have a lot more in common than we thought. We all have issues with our parents, we all have people who think we can't make it, we all have our own insecurities, we all have our fears. But we all also have each other." Nil said making the gang smile at each other. "And because we have our support system in each other we can do anything."

"Nil, that's so sweet." Simi said hugging Nil and soon everyone got into a group hug.

"Alright now that we've hugged it out let's play some music and get this party, uh I mean retreat started." Vicky said as Rohan and Anya came into the canteen with a laptop.

"Rohan, Anya ya'll missed the group hug." Taani said as she took their laptop and plugged in Vicky's speakers.

"Taani let me pick the song, Rey and I will sing, you just put the music." Nil said grinning as he whispered the song in her ear.

Taani gave him a surprised look and nodded as she put on the music. Rey grinned when he heard the song, knowing that Nil chose it for the sole purpose of letting everyone know that they will make it regardless of the negative pressures from the people that didn't support them.

They continued singing, as the others started dancing. They sang and Bharat and Amar started tutting to the song. Soon enough everyone was either singing or dancing, or even both. (Nil is singing that paranthesis, and Rey is the singing the second line).

Standing in the hall of fame

"Yeah!" They all cheered, finally feeling better after the week they were having.

Taani was into the music until she saw her Dad pass by the canteen and go towards the door. She told Aashi she'd be back as she followed her Dad.

"Yes Sheila I'm here at Mumbai, and yes I met Taani and yes I did all the emotional blackmail that you told me to do." Taani heard her Dad say, and her smile faded.

"You know I tried to make it alright, but when he came into their lives she chose him over me. I can never forget that she chose another man to be her father." Her dad continued to maliciously speak into the phone continously breaking her heart.

"I'm done with trying to make things better; I'm here for one reason only. In their will they said that if Taani comes to stay with us then we will get part of her fortune, but if she's staying with Swayam, the fortune is not gonna come to us." He said. That was the last straw for Taani as the tears fell from her eyes.

"I tried to get through to her with dance, but I couldn't. And you know what, she's not even a good dancer. I don't even think she's a good musician." Ram continued onto the phone. "Alright Sheila I have to go before someone over hears. The good news is that I found out what day the dance off is, and if we go an pretend to be supporting Swayam and his team, then maybe Taani will believe that she should give us a chance. We'll be one step closer to getting the money." He said before he hung up. Looking both ways Ram left as Taani stood there, her tears falling. She bit her lip and covered her mouth so no one could hear her sobs. After a few minutes she wiped her tears with her hands and went to the locker room to touch up on her make up so no one would notice that she was crying.

When she came out she wasn't expecting Rey to be standing outside the door looking like he was in pain.

"Rey what are you doing here?" Taani asked clearing her throat so it wouldn't sound like she was crying.

"I was right behind you Taani, you don't have to hide it from me." Rey said taking a step closer to Taani.

"I'm fine." Taani said as her voice cracked. Tears sprang to her eyes again. Rey pulled her into a tight hug and that was when Taani broke down.

"I knew I shouldn't have trusted him." Taani said.

"Hey it's okay." Rey said rubbing her back.

"No it's not." Swayam said surprising them. They looked back and saw their entire gang standing there looking angry. "What he did is not okay, and we're not going to let him get away with this." Swayam said, anger flashed in his usual calm eyes.

"Bhai, it's okay, I'm fine." Taani said wiping her tears.

"Maybe, but he won't get away with this anymore." Sharon swore.

"Let's make a deal," Swayam said looking at Taani and Rey, "You and Rey perform one dance together at the dance off and do one song together as well. Learn from each other. Be the reason you both enjoy these talents, learn to breathe in the positivity of your talents from each other. Instead of having your respective reasons to hate dance and music, why don't you both work together to be the reason you fall in love with this passion again. Be each other's muse." He said.

"But Bhai what does this have to do with him." Taani said.

"Don't you see you'll prove that you are a dancer and you are a damn good musician anyways. Through the dance you can tell him off. And Rey your Dad is one of the judges is he not? You can also express what you want through your dance. Chose a theme and dance." Swayam said.

"Bhai, I don't want to prove anything to him. Besides Rey is Aashi's dance partner." Taani said.

"Then do it for yourself. Both you and Rey need to believe in your passions again, and both of you have the same passion. Help each other out, if not for your parents then do it so you can be happy again." Aashi said. "I have no problem changing my dance partner." Aashi smiled. "For the auditions instead of Rey and I, you can do a dance with Rey. Besides contemporary was never my thing."

"But," Taani started to say.

"I'll do it." Rey said smiling. "We will be each other's therapy." Rey laughed.

"And we'll all be helping you all the way, besides VP already said we are doing music and dance together." Nil added. "What do you think?" They all gave her an expected look.

Taani looked down closed her eyes and then smiled, opening her eyes and smiling widely she said, "I think you guys are the best friends I can ever ask for." Taani said as the gang grinned.

"Group hug!" Simi yelled as they all piled into each other in a tight hug.

"Our competitors better watch out now." Sharon smiled. "Come on guys, VP is letting us all out cause we were on our best behavior."

"Alright girls night tonight," Sharon said.

"Yes!" The girls squealed excitedly "Girls night at Sharon's is always the best." Simi said. Taani looked at Rey and bit her lip. "I'm gonna go with them." She told him.

Even though he wanted to talk to her he knew that she needed them right now. He nodded and let her go.
