The cops locked the driver and his family in a room and waited for Arnav and Siddharth's order.
"What do you want us to do now, ASR?" Chetan asked him. "Koi bhi madat karne ke liye hum thayaar hai. [We are ready to help you in anyway possible.] We will help you without being noticed."
Arnav looked at Akash and said, "Akash, tum ghar jao. I don't know why they have Khushi. Whatever the reason is, I don't want the others to know about it and I don't want anything to happen to them. Stay with them and make sure they are safe." He asked Chetan, "Will you be able to go with Akash and keep an eye on my family?"
"Of course, ASR. We'll go with Akash."
"Neel, mujhe tumari help chahiye. Tum aur Siddharth mere saath uss location ko aana hai. You okay with that?" [Neel, I need your help. You and Siddharth have to come with me to that location. You okay with that?]
He nodded.
"Akash, I'll drop you at home."
Arnav dropped Akash at home and then went to the address the driver had given him. The building they saw in front of them was a garage. The street around the garage had a lot of automobile spare part shops.
Even though they knew that the kidnappers would have changed the locations, they stayed silent for a while to listen to any minute sound.
After a couple of minutes, Neel looked around and said, "All the shops are closed. If we break in, no one will find out. ASR, in case someone finds out, your reputation will be at stake."
"To hell with my reputation," Arnav said. "I don't care about it. All I care about is my wife who at present is stuck up in some place with a couple of crazy men."
Neel nodded and took out a lock picking kit from his pocket. He inserted one of the many thin metal strips into the lock and twisted a few times. At the fifth twist and turn, the lock snapped open.
He pushed open the door and entered the garage. The whole place was as empty and as clean as a slate. The only evidence which suggested that the shed was in use was the impression of the wheel ruts on the sand in one end of the shed.
Arnav bent near it and inspected the wheel ruts.
Neel joined him and said, "These look like they belong to a big vehicle like that of a van."
Mano and Raghu were happy with their work. They had completed most of what their boss told them to do. Only one task remained and then their boss would be proud of them. When their minds turned to the extra money they would receive, their eyes sparkled.
They drove by AR Designs office to find whether Arnav was still there. When they reached the office, they found the parking lot empty. Arnav's Fortuner was missing. Only Siddharth's Endeavour remained.
"Looks like he left," Mano told his partner.
"What do we do now?"
Mano had an evil glint in his eyes when he said, "Let's pay his house a visit and finish our final task. After that, boss will return and take care of her."
They reached the street where Arnav's house was located and searched for someone who will be their bakrah.
They smiled when they saw an old man walking across the street with his grandson.
"Aap humari ek choti si madat kar sakthe hain?" Mano asked the old man. [Can you do us a small favour?]
"Kaho beta. Kya karma hai?" the old man asked. "Waise aap logon kaun hai?" [Tell me, son. What should I do? Who are you people?]
"Humari dhosth ka janam din hai aaj. Us ke liye ek surprise party arrange kiya hai humne and we have to give this gift to him." [Today is our friend's birthday. We have arranged a surprise party for him and we have to give this gift to him.]
Raghu pulled out a gift parcel from his bag. "Since it is a surprise party, we need someone else to give this to him. Can you help us?"
"Kahan dena hai?" the old man asked. [Where should I give this.]
"Shanthivan," Mano replied. "Arnav Singh Raizada ka ghar." [Arnav Singh Raizada's house.]
"Theek hai beta." [Fine, son.]
"Dhanyavad, ji." [Thank you, ji.]
The little boy took the gift box from Raghu and the grandfather-grandson duo went to Shantivan to deliver the box.
Chetan and a colleague went to Shantivan and stayed out of people's sight. They scanned the whole area and then when they were satisfied with their knowledge about every nook and corner, they settled in a dark area which was concealed by a tree.
Richard and his other colleague stayed back in Neel's house to look after the driver and his family.
Chetan saw an old man and a little boy near the entrance. The security guard spoke with the old man for a while and then took the parcel. He pressed the calling bell and waited for someone to open the door.
NK opened the door.
"Saab, Arnav saab ko yeh parcel dena hai," the guard told him. [Saab, there is a parcel for Arnav saab.]
NK took the parcel and turned it around to find the name of the person who sent it. There was no name.
"Kisne bheja?" he asked the guard. [Who sent this?]
"An old man gave this saying that two men came in a bike and asked him to deliver this here."
NK looked at the parcel in confusion and said, "I'll give this to Nannav. Tum jao."
"Ji."
He looked at the parcel for a while.
"Nannav is not here. I want to know what's in it. I'll open it and what is the big deal in it?" he asked himself.
He opened the gift wrapper and found a dupatta.
"Why is someone sending this to nannav?"
After a few seconds, realization dawned on him. He remembered that it was the dress Khushi wore before leaving with the driver.
"Khushiji," he whispered in confusion.
Akash, who had been waiting for NK, came in search of him and found him with a dupatta in his hand.
"Yeh kya hai, NK?" he asked. "Tum dupatta pehenthe ho?" [What is this, NK? You wear dupatta?]
"Very funny, Akash. I think yeh Khushiji ka hai. She wore this when she went out. If she wore this, why did someone send this to Nannav?"
The wheels in Akash's brain turned and he understood the situation. The kidnapper had sent this. Just like he had sent the ring and the bracelet.
Before Anjali and the others came in search of them, Akash took NK aside and said, "NK, I'll explain everything. Stay silent for a while."
NK saw the serious expression on Akash's face and nodded.
Akash called Chetan and his colleague. NK told them about the parcel and what the guard had told him regarding who had given it.
The two cops ran outside in search of the old man but he was nowhere to be found. While they were searching, Akash explained the whole situation to NK. To say that NK was shocked would be an understatement.
Chetan returned and said, "They are not here."
He took the box from NK and glanced through it. It was then that he saw the maroon stains on the red dupatta.
"We have to tell Nannav," NK reminded Akash.
Akash nodded and called Arnav.
The garage was empty. There was not a single clue other than the wheel ruts.
"They must have taken her somewhere else," Neel stated.
Arnav banged his hand on the wall and said, "Where ever they are, I will find them."
His phone rang. The call was from Akash.
"Kya hua, Akash? Sab kuch theek hai na?" [What happened, Akash? Everything is fine, right?]
"Ek aur parcel aaya, bhai," he slowly replied. [Another parcel has come, bhai.]
He swallowed hard and asked, "Ek aur? Kya hai us mein?" [One more? What is there in it?]
"Red dupatta."
Akash didn't have to explain anything else because Arnav understood everything.
"Aur us mein blood stains bhi hai." He told him how they had received the parcel. [And there are blood stains.]
Without another word, Arnav disconnected the call.
Arnav shared the information with Neel and Siddharth. Around twenty seconds later, his phone rang again. It was Akash again.
Siddharth pressed the attend button and put it on loudspeaker mode.
"Bhai, Chetan wants to speak with you." He asked NK, "Yeh Chetan kahaan gaya?" [Where did this Chetan go?]
"I'll call him, Akash," NK said and went to call the two cops.
Seconds ticked away in silence. That was when Arnav heard nani's voice through the phone.
"Anjali bitya, damadji ka phone aayaa tha. [Anjali bitya, damadji called.] He said your phone was switched off. That is why he called the landline number. Talk to him."
"Ji, nani," Anjali said. [Okay, nani.]
Damadji. That one word was enough to light a spark for Arnav and Siddharth. Their brains worked in the same frequency and they replayed the whole situation in their brain. Shyam had wanted Khushi all along. He had tried out a lot of options and nothing had worked out. So had he kidnapped Khushi when none of his plans worked?
"Akash, mere baath suno," Arnav said. "Di se pooch Shyam kahaan hai." [Akash, listen to me. Ask di where Shyam is.]
"Shyam..." he said slowly as he understood Arnav's doubts. "Ek minute bhai." [One minute, bhai.]
He called Anjali. "Di!"
Nani asked him why he was shouting.
"Di kahaan hai, nani?" [Where is di, nani?]
"In her room."
Arnav heard Akash run up the stairs and enter Anjali's room.
"Di, office mein ek problem aagaya and we need a lawyer to sort it out. Jijaji kahaan hai?" [Di, there is a problem in our office and we need a lawyer to sort it out. Where is jijaji?]
"He had some work in Lucknow, Akash."
"Lucknow?"
"Office mein kya hua, Akash?" [What happened in office, Akash?]
"Aap chintha math kijiye. Hum sambaalenge." [Don't worry. We'll take care of it.]
A few seconds later, Akash said, "It looks like he is in Lucknow, bhai."
"I don't trust him."
Arnav closed his eyes and took a deep breath to control his emotions and think about the situation.
"Akash, pass the phone to Chetan."
Akash passed the phone and Arnav heard Chetan's voice. "ASR?"
"Now di will call a number. Trace the call and find the location for me."
"I have to set up a computer and a phone and it will take some time, ASR. But I will do..."
His colleague interrupted him and said, "No, Chetan. You don't have to set up a base. I have the satellite phone with me. We can use that."
Chetan agreed and said, "We have a satellite phone, ASR. We can connect it with the department database and we can access all the applications. But the only problem is your sister has to make a call with this phone."
"Akash will take care of that."
The phone on the other side was also in loudspeaker mode and Akash said, "I'll do it, bhai."
"Don't disconnect my call, Akash."
"Okay, bhai."
Chetan connected the phone with the Police Department's database and his iPad. It took five minutes to maintain the connection and then he passed the phone to Akash while his colleague had the iPad.
"He has to be on the line for atleast thirty seconds," Chetan reminded Akash.
Akash traced his steps back to Anjali's room and knocked on the door.
She opened the door and asked, "Office mein problem keisi hai?" [How is the problem in the office?]
"It is a bit complicated, di. We need jijaji's help. Can you speak with him and find out where he is?" He gave her Chetan's phone and said, "We have to talk with him soon otherwise the problem will become worse. Another help, di. Don't tell him that our office is facing problems. He will feel bad and he will rush to Delhi. I don't want that to happen. When people are in a hurry, they forget about themselves. Don't make him sad, di."
Anjali agreed. She took the phone from Akash and dialled Shyam's number.
"Hello! Kaun?" she heard Shyam's voice.
"Aap keise hain?" Anjali asked him. [How are you?]
"Rani Saheba, hum ne aapki aawaaz sunliya. [Rani Saheba, I have heard your voice.] Now, I am perfect."
"Achcha, aap kahaan hai?" [Okay, where are you?]
"Lucknow mein," he replied. [In Lucknow.]
"Lucknow mein?" [Lucknow?]
Akash and NK exchanged knowing glances.
"Haan. I would have returned today but the work got extended."
"When will you return?"
"I am waiting in a petrol bunk. I will start in a few minutes. Aap bathaayiye, yeh kiska number hai?" [You tell me, whose number is this?]
She looked at Akash, pointed to the phone and asked him whose it was.
"My new phone," he whispered.
"Akash ka. Mera phone mein battery down ho gaya. Isiliye Akash ka naya phone use kiya." [It's Akash's. There is no charge in my phone. That is why I used Akash's new phone.]
"I will call you as soon as I reach Delhi."
"Theek hai. Bye."
Anjali returned the phone to Akash and said, "He is in Lucknow."
"Thanks, di."
He ran outside the house with NK behind him.
"That was close," Chetan said. "30.6 seconds. We could have lost him."
"Have you found him?" Arnav, who had been silent for a long time, asked them.
"Yes, ASR. We have."
"Where is he?" All of them askind him at once.
Chetan showed the iPad to Akash and said, "Outskirts of Delhi."
"What is there in that area?" NK asked Chetan.
"Ek puraani mechanic shop hai wahaan [There is an old mechanic shop] ," Chetan answered. "He is there."
In the old mechanic shed, a phone rang in a room which a bulb holder but no bulb.
A man attended the call and said, "Hello!"
"Tum ne ek bahut badi ghalthi ki," the caller's stone cold voice said. [You made a very big mistake.]
"Who are you and what are you talking about?"
"Main kaun? [Who am I?] " he asked. "That is a surprise. But the main thing is who you are and what I know about you."
"Matlab?" [What does that mean?]
"Matlab yeh, Shyam Manohar Jha, ki tumne bahut badi ghalthi ki.[It means that, Shyam Manohar Jha, you have made a very big mistake.] Your priorities are all wrong and you have chosen the bad option."
"Bad option? Don't tell me what I did? If you don't have the guts to come in person and talk with me, please don't say anything else."
The stone cold voice turned colder when he said, "I will come but only when the time is right. I will return to get back what is mine. Rightfully mine. Who I am or what I want is none of your concern. Your concern should be Khushi and Anjali. Anjali was your golden egg laying duck and Khushi, the golden egg. Just because you wanted the egg, you slit open the duck. In this situation, you forgot about one thing. You can use the egg only for a while. But the duck'.. that can be used for a long long time."
"What are you saying?"
"You made the wrong decision. If you hurt Khushi, Arnav will come after you. Even if he doesn't doubt you, he will come after you. He will tell Anjali the truth about you and you have to spend the rest of your life in prison or on the road. Or worse, Arnav might kill you for hurting the two important people in his life. The right decision would have been to stay with Anjali and rob lots and lots of money from her. While doing that, you could have romanced Arnav's wife in his own house. One day, Arnav would have had enough of it and he would have told Anjali the whole truth. And when that situation arises, you could have packed your bags and escaped. So, what do you think? Which is the ideal option? Mine or yours?"
"Yeh sab bakwaas sun ne ke liye mere paas time nahi hai. If you have the courage, meet me in person." [I don't have time to listen to all this stupidity. If you have courage, meet me in person.]
"We will meet, Shyam. I mean, if you are alive." He paused for a second and said, "Before I go, let me tell you something. If you are alive, I will come to meet you for sure, Shyam. Kyun ki hamara dushman ek hai. Aur who hai Arnav Malik. Nahi. Nahi. Arnav Singh Raizada." [Because our enemy is the same. And he is Arnav Malik. No. No. Arnav Singh Raizada.]
With that, the caller with the cold voice disconnected the call leaving behind Shyam to his own thoughts.
Once Arnav knew about the location, he got into his Fortuner along with Neel and Siddharth and drove to the place where Shyam was.
"I am going there, Chetan," Arnav told him. "I am sure Khushi is there."
Chetan knew that it would be of no use to ask Arnav to wait for them to do their job. He was sure that Arnav wouldn't listen.
Instead he said, "I will arrange back up for you, ASR. Don't worry. We will be careful so that he doesnot harm your wife."
"I'll call you when I reach there," Arnav said and disconnected the call.
As soon as Arnav disconnected the call, his phone rang again. He knew the number well and knew that it was from the kidnapper.
"Did you get my latest gift, ASR?" the caller asked him.
Arnav gritted his teeth.
"Woh kya hai na, ASR, yeh sab humara boss ka plan tha. Unhone kaha yeh sab karne ke liye. [You know what, ASR? All this is our boss' plan. He told us to do all these.] Looks like he wants to have some fun with her. And who am I to stop him? That is why I am doing everything he said."
"Ek baar tumara boss ko mere saamne aane do. Phir dekh main uski kya haal karunga." [Let your boss come in front of me for once. Then you will see what I do to him.]
"Mazak bandh karo, ASR. Mera boss aur tum? First try to find out who we are. Then speak all these filmy dialogues." [Stop joking, ASR. My boss and you? First try to find out who we are. Then speak all thse filmy dialogues.]
"Agar tume bhagwan pe vishwaas hai, make sure you pray and ask for forgiveness or help or whatever it is. Kyun ki agar mein tumare saamne aatha hoon, tumari bholthi bandh ho jayegi. [If you believe in God, make sure you pray and ask for his forgiveness or help or whatever it is. Because, if I come in front of you, you will not be able to do anything.] And nobody, if you believe in God, not even He will be able to save you from me. Aur tumare boss toh mera hath se marega." [And your boss will die in my hands.]
The caller chuckled. "Nice talking to you, ASR. Goodbye."
"Goodbye tab kahoonga jab main tume maarne tumare paas aatha hoon." [I will say goodbye to you when I come to you to kill you.]
