CHAPTER 5:

"Last night was wild," Panchi beamed, sounding just like her cheerful own self.

"Yeah," I muttered. "Tell me about it." Diksha giggled beside me, but when I stared at her with a straight face, she suddenly stopped giggling. I over-exaggerate. The three of us were seated in the school's caf; Panchi was drinking coffee, while Diksha and I settled with hot chocolate. Both of the girls were sitting across from me, so I felt a bit at ease. If either of them said anything to irritate me, it was easy for me to glare at them. I was still a bit nervous. I hadn't told Panchi about Parag.

"Parag was at the party yesterday," Diksha blurted out, interrupting my glorious thoughts! (Not the sarcasm) My face turned warm. Panchi's jaw dropped open as she stared at me wide-eyed. She looked like she was about to say something, but suddenly decided against it. She gasped. I thought it was a really late reaction but I didn't want to question her about it. She sipped her coffee once more and stared at me with sad eyes. But I didn't want her pity, so I looked away to avoid any eye contact.

"And, why didn't you tell me this, Kiya?" Panchi was still staring at me, waiting for an answer. I turned to Diksha for help but she just shrugged. I finally blurted out all I could muster up to say.

"The only reason Diksha met him was because he's KD's brother and she was flirting with him and suddenly he comes and KD goes like, 'what? You know him? But he's my brother!' And…" I babbled on and on until Panchi finally cut me off with a sigh. I suddenly stopped talking and sipped my hot chocolate. It had gotten cold. I didn't want to drink it anymore, but I did anyway. That was the only way I could excuse myself for not talking. I didn't want to talk right now. And from the look on Panchi's and Dikha's face, it was clear that they had nothing to say also.

"…You know," Pacnhi started, still looking at me with a sad face. "Parag is a true f*****. What he did to you was really inappropriate. Who he did it with was even more inappropriate, and I cannot…" Diksha cut Panchi off. "You know who he did it with?"

"No," Panchi replied, a bit too bluntly. I turned to Diksha to see her expression. She looked releaved.

"Okay, Panchi… No need to get all emotional and worked up about it," I said. "He's my problem, just chuck it!" But that was not the case, because Panchi was still looking sad-eyed and Diksha was still sitting there as quiet as ever.

"Okay guys," I said, raising my voice a bit. "What the heck is wrong with both of you? Is there something you're not telling me? Because you both seem depressed as ever and I seriously do, not like it! I repeat, I, do not, like it! "Parag told me something last night," Diksha muttered. "When KD dragged you to wherever he dragged you I asked Parag about his school…" I stared at Diksha, preparing for the worst, and hoping for the best. Parag could not transfer here. But even if he did, why would it matter? He'd be a senior, and I'd still be a junior. We'd probably barely even see each other.

"He will not be coming here…" I suddenly grinned, my face showing nothing but pure happiness.

"…Don't be too happy, Kiya. I said, he will not be coming here this week, but after next week, he will start…" I covered my ears. I wasn't ready to hear the rest. There was no way Parag could move here! And anyways, why can't he go to some normal teenage high school? Why did he have to study in this boarding school? I just closed my eyes and started sipping my hot chocolate a bit more. It was almost finished. I thought about getting another one, but Diksha rose from her seat and grinned widely and Panchi and I. "We all need a break," Diksha said, letting out a sigh. "We need to have a girls day and night out. First, KD, and now, Parag. It's getting suffocating just looking at you guys! No more drama, KIya. No more drama, Panchi," Diksha eyed Panchi before continuing. I glanced at both of them, looking at Panchi suspiciously. "And," Diksha continued. "You both need to go easy on yourselves. Now, come on, let's sneak to the mall, and grab some clothes. And we'll come back here and stay up late. Just like the old days." I sighed, but gave in. To be honest, I was looking forward to it. I just hoped it would be like the 'old days.' Diksha and I used to hate each other. It was a miracle we became really close. When I first moved into this boarding school, Diksha was just a bossy bully. She was mean, rude, and thought she was way too cool for her own good. But we put aside our differences and became friends anyways. "I so, can't wait," Panchi squealed, smiling that award winning smile of hers. I giggled as Diksha shot a grin towards my direction. Yeah. To be completely honest, I couldn't wait either...

___________At the mall__________________________

"Look at this top one! It's gorgeous!" Panchi grinned at she held up a blue razor top. Diksha instantly squealed, turning to face Panchi. I just stood there quietly. Mostly because I thought the shirt looked ugly.

"Ooh, it would look gorgeous on Kiya!" I snapped my head up and turned to face Diksha. She was scanning the shirt. Panchi laughed, nodding her head in agreement. But no matter what they said, I was not wearing that. It was really ugly. I would never want to wear such a thing!

"Go! Try on this stop, and these skinny jeans, this sweater, and this cute hat. I think it looks super cute," Panchi said, handing me the the blue top, two skinny jeans, a sweater, and a hat. One jean was blue, the other was black. The sweater was a light grey color. I had to approve the sweater.

"No," I replied, bluntly. "I'm not wearing those hideous paper bags." Two girls behind me gasped, as Pacnhi stared at me wide eyed. Diksha covered her mouth with her hands. I didn't really see what the big deal was. Just because I didn't like Panchi's taste in clothing didn't mean the world was coming to an end. Wait. Even though the world wasn't coming to an end, I knew I was coming to an end.

The lights flicked on and off again. Diksha and Panchi were nowhere in sight. Had they ditched me? No, they couldn't. We were here together. And they wouldn't go back to the boarding school without me. The lights turned off. Everything went dark. A little light was coming from the mall window, so I could still see the exit. I got out of this story. Now the real maze would be getting out of this store. People were all rushing, probably wondering what the heck was going on. I followed the crowd, hoping they'd lead me to the exit. I suddenly stopped. There has to be more than one exit here. If everyone goes the same way, then it'll be a problem. Being my stupid own self, I decided to go towards the isolated area. Why was I so stupid? I squinted, trying to make my vision clearer. It was getting dark outside. This just made me even more scared. What if someone caught me sneaking? Panchi and Diksha would definitely have to pay for this later. How could they just leave me here? I moved back as I saw a dead end on this side. It wasn't exactly a dead end. It said, Emergency Door. Alarm will sound. This was an emergency situation, right? As I was about to enter the door, a hard figure pushed me, causing myself and the stranger to fall down. I had hit the side-wall, and was now on the floor. I winced in pain as a shot of pain rushed through my body. I carefully got up, massaging my back with my right hand in the process. I wanted to say a sarcastic remark. But I just couldn't think of one. Not now. Continuing to massage my back, I looked up. I let out a gasp as I saw who it was. "P-Parag? W-What are you doing here?" I felt like a fool. Why in the world was I stuttering? He's my damn ex for god's sake! I shouldn't be acting this way around him. And anyways, what was he doing here? Out of all the people in the world, why did it have to be him? This was such a small world. "Dude, you know her? And did she just stutter?" I looked to the side, searching for the owner of that unfamiliar voice. He was tall and handsome guy wearing a white T-shirt. He was a bit skinny, but it worked well with the rest of his body. I scanned him, turning my face towards Parag afterwards. "Kiya? What the heck are you doing here?" I stared at Parag, a dumbfounded expression plastered on my face. Hadn't I just asked him the same question? I rolled my eyes, turning my face towards the emergency door. "I just asked you the same thing…"

"Oh," Parag said, letting out a frown. "I'm just chilling with my friend, Ranveer. Ranveer, this is Kiya. Kiya, Ranveer." After we greeted each other we agreed on finding a way out. After about an hour or so we finally reached the exit. By the time we got out of the mall it had gotten dark. The parking space was isolated. There were only 3 or 4 cars left. It was chilly outside. A roar of thunder boomed from the sky, causing me to let out a gasp. It echoed through the empty lot, causing my body to heat up. But Parag quickly wrapped his arms around my shoulders. He gave me a weak smile, making his grip on my shoulder a bit tighter. Ranveer was walking beside us, grinning as Parag and I walked through the empty mall lot together. I felt a bit embarrassed. It was silent, but the air was tense. I suddenly tensed as lightning flashed across the sky.

"It's okay. Calm down, Kiya," Parag said, soothingly. "Yeah," Ranveer mimicked, his voice filled with amusement. "Definitely Kiya, you calm yourself." I didn't say anything. I was supposed to be in campus right now. Why had Panchi and Diksha ditched me like that? Or was it just because of the power failure? Were they forced to leave or something? The rain was pouring. But that didn't stop us from walking. Parag led me towards Ranveer's car. It was too cold outside for me to observe the car, so I just hopped in, my clothes wet from the pouring rain. Heck, all three of us were wet. And right now, I didn't think Ranveer actually cared about the fact that his car was getting wet. The inside, of course.

"So…?" Raveer stated, obviously trying to start a conversation. "Please drop me off at school," I begged. Anxiety was slowly making its way towards my heart. I was really frightened. I couldn't afford to be caught out of school. Especially since it was only me "Don't worry, Kiya," Liam said, letting out a chuckle. "That's exactly where we're headed." I turned to Parag and smiled. After a few 10 minutes, Ranveer stopped his car. Thinking we had arrived, I looked up. But instead of near the campus, we were 2 blocks away. I was about to question Ranveer about it, but I instantly realized what he was up to. I had to sneak in. So, I really couldn't be caught near the front door or using the front door. I didn't know how I was going to do this, so I decided to head towards the back of the big building. I had to go to the 2nd floor, thank god for that. If I went inside, people would start questioning me. Why did I look so soaking wet? Well, maybe I was sitting outside of campus. Uh, no, just no! That really won't work I quickly got out of Raveer's car and started heading towards the school building. Parag was trailing behind me. I really wondered why. When we were about a block away, I finally spoke up. "Why're you following?"

"Oh, no reason. Just wanted to drop you at the door." Parag flashed me a cheeky grin. I ignored it and continued walking. The rain hadn't stopped. In fact, it was stronger. And the thunder hadn't stopped either. I was cold. I wanted nothing more than to cuddle under my blankets. When we reached the doorway of the entrance, I noticed someone at the campus door. The person was standing, staring towards my direction. I stared at the door quickly, trying to see who it was. My heart pacing faster by the minute. I couldn't figure out who it was, so I just let it slide. It looked like a student, definitely not a teacher or a watchman. Parag and I quickly switched goodbyes as I entered the school. Hopefully no one would question me. Hopefully I wouldn't be in too much trouble. When I got to the front door, I realized that the person was KD. He was glaring at me. "What were you doing with my brother?" "Nothing," I responded casually.

"Well, it's not me you have to deal with," he said, coldly. "It's the principal. He's inside waiting for you."

My jaw dropped. My body heated up with anxiety. My eyes instantly widened as I turned to stare at KD. My body felt as if it was paralyzed. Why would KD do that? He wouldn't really tell the principal about me, would he?

PRECAP: KD joking about the princi situation and they together head towards the dorm!
