Chapter Twenty-One - The Question

The only choice I had was to run after her.

When I reached the guest room, her door was closed.

I knocked on it but she didn't respond.

"Madhu, open the door, right now!"

There was silence...but then a short moment later she finally spoke.

"MY NAME'S MADHURI."

She yelled it out. For the first time, she wasn't happy with me calling her Madhu.

"I need to talk to you, stop acting like a child and open the damn door."

There was another moment of silence and then the door opened.

She didn't look at me; she walked back into her room and stood with her arms crossed and her back towards me.

"Madhu..."

"Madhuri. I said my name's Madhuri."

"I thought you liked being called Madhu?"

"I did...until I found out about her."

"How..."

She turned to look at me. Her eyes were slightly red from crying.

She walked towards me and pointed at a very small cut on the side of her cheek.

"You see this RK?"

I nodded my head slowly; afraid of where she was going with this.

"It's a paper cut."

I looked at her waiting to continue.

She grabbed my hand and took the picture she had given to me earlier out of my hand.

She held it up to face me. I looked everywhere except for at the picture.

"A paper cut caused by this."

I looked up into her eyes. What was she saying?

"That night after Raj hung up on you, he threw this at my face. He explained everything. He told me...before you did. Do you have any idea how that made me feel?!"

"What did he say?"

"That she's your wife...she's the one that passed away."

"What else? That jerk must've definitely said more."

"He said that when he first saw her at the party, he thought it was me. Then when she was introduced as your wife, he was confused. So he drank more than usual."

"And he spiked her drink..."

"Yeah, he included that. I remember one day when he came home drunk, it had been a nice day until he came home. He randomly hit me until I passed out. My parents had been out that night. I didn't know what I had done wrong..."

I stared at her. Feeling sorry for her but also angry at that leech that laid a hand on her.

"It was never my fault. Never. I got hurt for something that wasn't my fault."

"Madhu...I can explain."

"Call me Madhuri. I'm not your Madhu!"

I looked at her for a moment, I grew angry.

"I know you're not and I don't want you to be!"

I stepped closer to her and she stepped back slightly as I continued.

"No one can replace her and no one ever will."

"I don't want to replace her!"

"Then what's wrong with you?!"

"There's one question that's been bothering me since I found out."

"Then ask me?"

"If I hadn't looked like her...would you have still talked to me? Cared about me? Helped me...?"

Note To Readers: The true reason behind Raj beating up Madhuri the night of the party will be revealed in a few updates. It seems that I made that part a bit confusing! Sorry! Sorry it's a short update as well!

Loved it.. Madhuri doesn't know a thing about Madhubala Rishabh Kundra.. Nice.. She finally manned up, i'm glad.. :) and Raj.. Jeez.. What an A-hole.. :/ looking forward for the next update Pritt.. :)

okay so Raj hit her because she looked like Madhu? This is bizarre.

nyc update nd madhuri question is gud lol. Hmm pritt i supported this sequel and i hate tragic stories. this sequel is gonna have many updates and people are loving it
