Episode 179 Discussion: 26th Jan 2013

Welcome to the Episode discussion thread which we call as Viewer's and Reader's Respite. That's very apt, don't you think ? 😉. And that proves our objective.

Objective behind the thread is

It helps in keeping the forum clean without much litter. People just need to fall in a habit.
We can have it like breathers at first followed by analysis.
It also helps like-minded souls and pals bond and gel together to drop in their thoughts for themselves as breathers and for their friends as a peep into the episode and for others to post their reviews.
And those from different time-zones, who do not get to watch the episode at this time of telecast (Indian 8:30 PM), without any worry to trace or keep track of all their buddy's posts, they can come here, read with leisure and later post their analysis after watching it from their Time zones.

Episode 179 Discussion - EOD Summary

Balraj Hungama - Action Dhamaka Mahaepisode

Events of the Episode

Usually I write the episode events separately from my episode review. However today, I merged the two into one and made it Episode Commentary. So you can read the episode events from my commentary post.

The episode was for 38 minutes and the action director for the episode was Prem Sharma. Screen play is by Gautam Hegde and Janaki V. Dialogue writer is Raghubir Shekhawat. Associate Art director is Rajeev Ranjan who helped in that Art decor for the Scene. Ofcourse the primary Art Director is Sumit Mishra. The episodic story was written by Shivani Shah and Abhishek Kumar. The editing team is as always Rochak Ahuja, Hemant Singh, Vaalendra Singh. DOP is Ganesh Sankla, who must have assisted Prem Sharma closely. Overall director of the episode is Amit D Malik. The entire Action Drama at the lakeside set created for MEIEJ in Film City has cost 25 lakhs per Producer and story writer Sourabh Tewari.

Since it is action based episode, it is best judged when one views it and each can rate according to his taste. However, I would like to mention that effort was worth it. Such an investment in action for a soap is good development. For me it suits. It tells me that Producers are no longer sticking to indoor shoots. And the trend should continue on for other soaps as well. As it is TV industry is doing very well. 👏 Personally I have loved the action drama and I express my gratitude to MEIEJ Production team (Colors and Nautanki Films) for showing this presentation. Nowadays I do not watch movies. I fall into the middle aged person category, who usually stop growing in new cinema tastes owing to their real life experiences and other worries. For them TV remains the Time Pass medium. So for me seeing this action drama was like what I used to like in movies back then and I can still enjoy it on TV. No strings attached factor for my middle age persona and yet 100% entertained.

someone plz tell me why were those goons busy pointing guns at Shamsher , Padmini etc. etc. when they were already tied up with the pillars 😕🤣🤣 n none of them came to Balraj's rescue 😲🤣

Did anyone else feel that the 'uth jao RK' drama by madhu, trishna and padmini was way too stretched...15 min tak hero so raha hai... 🥱 ...I actually got bored during tht tym... 🥱 other than tht...full on action masala as expected...bt need tym to get over the epi n gather my thoughts... 😆 😆

Madhubala ek ishq ek comedy😆

1) RK getting all beaten up, unconscious, the goons were about to go, if he laid there for another 2 mins, aaram se apni car mein aa jaata but no, he called all of them back, beat them up n come flying on a bike !

2) Oye oye , all nachaniyas vanished after the song, they were not bothered kisko phasi ho rahi hai, whoz yelling etc. etc. Sikky ka entertainment ho gaya, he was also dancing with them !

3) RK making a grand or rather flying entry n the camera focused on each and every person present there every minute which was damn irritating..and it continued in EVERY scene for tht 1 hr...meanwhile our heroine cannot stop giggling , admiring her hero from the balcony ! those se chillad bhi maar deti agar haath khule hote toh..

4) RK saying his trademark RK dialogues which were okay types, Madhu abhi bhi has hi rahi thi 🤣 somehow i cud not stop ROFL looking at her...phasi ho rahi hai but RK ko dekh dekh ke hase jaa rahi hai 🤣

5) Ballu using GRENADE, rocket launcher , whatever !! WOW ! itna kuch toh Indian army ke paas bhi nahi hoga..he's using tht gun like it's a diwali ka rocket..the bomb blast was happening just 5 mts away 🤣 but thankfully all r safe

6) all the goons present there had guns with them but none of them used it, shayad guns were empty 😕 Ballu ki be izzati?

7) RK again targetted...everybody thought he's dead but not Madhu..itna footage khane ke baad , finally he got up and Madhu?? ...phir se hasi? 🤣 "RK utho RK utho" did sound like basanti..good job SBS

8) finally Ballu got the time to shoot Madhu , this time he succeeded..WOW that scene was a bit realistic...

9) our hero saving Madhu , that was the only scene i liked...itne dande itne dande ITNE saare dande, Ballu coming, Madhu coming, all dishum dhishum happening but after a while, i was confused "maar aakhir kisko pad rahi hai" 😕 my hubby asked me the same question..i told him "may be ballu , RK and madhu, in teeno ko pad rahi hai" 🤣

10) finally woh time aa gaya when Ballu got beaten up by RK..but wait a minute, where r Ballu's goons with guns? they were all lying on the floor, unko maar kab padi? 😕 all of them were ghayal watching our hero, jaise hum hote hai roz ke roz ??

11) Madhu stopped RK frm killing Ballu...good job Madhu...

12) finally they got time to hug...the people who r tied up should wait till the time their romantic scene is over n both of them stop staring into each other's eyes.

13) Police bhi aa gayi 😲 what an achievement ! Bittuji coming all dressed up for the wedding haan? 😎 watch out tht scene where the goons with guns ran away looking at the police 🤣

14) Madhu phir se Ballu ke paas n now why this suspence over who got killed ? didn't they show it in the promo? n if not promo, in the precap ! watch Padmini saying "balraj chod de meri beti ko" 🤣 best overacting award goes to Padmini today. Shamsher Malik ko koi footage nahi mila...extras were underpaid i guess...

Missed page 1 today 😭

Once I'd re-re-set my expectations after yesterday, I thoroughly enjoyed today's epi. I now believe this track, especially the Sholay-esque climax is a strictly tongue-in-cheek shootup of the original, a la Charlie Sheen's spoof of Top Gun (Hot Shots I think?)

Ballu was easily the highlight of the epi, his insane OTT antics made me cackle at several points.

Other points of note -

1) Deepali looked almost bored today, and disbelieving during Madhu's "Utho RK" chanting...Sikky on the other hand looked concerned and horrified at the appropriate moments, he's the only true sikka in the Bhatia badmash company. Kukkuji too looked mildly concerned when RK was seemingly dead.

2) (I think another reviewer has hghlighted this) Why didn't the goons with the guns leave their tied-up hostages and rescue their boss when he was in trouble? Typical brainless buffoons.

3) The Madhu-RK romance was touching. The scenes where he took blows for her or she for him were very "real" - my 8-year old watched them through his hands over his eyes..in fact, he was convinced that Madhu would die and kept asking me to fast-forward all the violence. The last scene really horrified him till I assured him I knew Madhu would live! Further proof for me that a "virgin" viewing of the serial without the media leaks will be far more enjoyable...

4) Trishna, Trishna, Trishna...you've got it coming next week, heroine! The "Maar use" bleats of today will in no way save you! YOU could have prevented this mayhem and you chose not to, for your own selfish ends..

5) I got the feeling Radhaji would have landed one or two kicks of her own on Balraj if she'd got the chance. What say?

6) Minor blooper - Ballu had his pony open and hair wild at the beginning of the epi. But when the song started, he flopped on the jhoola and opened his pony and literally let his hair down...again??

One thing still puzzles me though...where the heck did they spend 25 lakhs for this climax? The set (maybe 5 lakhs)❓? The extras (another 5 lakhs tops - even that is too generous!)? The rocket launchers, the WWII rifles, the revolvers/pistols, the oil drums and "special" effects - 10 lakhs😲???!!! Still doesn't add up...maybe the stunt director charged another 5 lakhs to make it a round 25!!!😉

Hmm, those are my initial thoughts for now. I enjoyed it, and will probably watch again tomorrow, again for the out of the world dialogues. 5 star epi overall!

ETA: The floozies who sang were just so cheap, they really fit Ballu's gang - cheap floozies and brainless goondas who don't know guns have triggers!

I had my husband sitting next to me watching, and he kept making funny comments throughout, at one point, I did'nt know whether to snap at him or laugh with him, I had to start laughing with him...finally he asked me...THIS is your favourite serial???

Episode summary - Hmmm, simple...Bhatias, Maliks all tied up. Kundra bahu hung on a noose standing on a stool. RK, the super star fights with goons and appears to save his love. After many false starts, he finally saves her!! Last minute, someone shoots someone, we don't know who, right?😆, ...so keep watching Madhubala...😆..mon - sat at 830 p.m. 🤣

Case of the mysterious smiles...At random points, some character who is being persecuted is actually smiling or laughing. Forget Madhu, who was smiling looking at her action hero coming to save her. She kept smiling at any chance she got to look at him. Thought she'd gone mad at one point. Sikky smiled at the dancers, Dipali smiled at some point...I mean what was going on???
useless goondas, all drunk, I suppose, their boss is getting beaten up, and they are standing, watching the scene
RK did not even touch Balraj, most of the times. We were supposed to pretend that he was getting beaten up badly
Madhu's family chants hauslon se veer with Madhu and keeps telling RK to get up. RK's family keeps mum, even his own mum, Radha would'nt join in, and say Utho Rishu. 😆
Bittuji looked like he had been crying. After all, he was the one who was instrumental in bringing BSC to RK.

Now i just want all of them to go back to their respective houses...Bhatias, Kundras to RK mansion, Malik and party to the chawl. Bahut excitement ho gaya...
