One innocent dialogue of Zoe in response to herself and Asad when they both realize that its just the post-trauma psychological effect that they are behaving as though they are still handcuffed to each-other. And there is no end to how much it says and foreshadows. Yes, Zoe is tied to Asad for life- irrespective of how many times they meet or how many times they separate.
Its a pleasant surprise that Zoe remembers Asad's trauma, his desperate care and emotional pull towards her and how it has registered with her both psychologically and emotionally. She is haunted by Asad hugging her and kissing her head when he realized that she was alive. She is traumatized but not numb to the feeling and remembrance of Asad having lifted her and taken her under his wing as though even the wind could hurt her. And that's why the eyes with which she looks at Asad have changed - they are not wide-eyed at her heroic Jahanpanah any more. They are the eyes of a woman seeking answers and looking with sentimental wonder at the man whom she remembers at his weakest and vulnerable less than 24 hours ago. She seeks the man she saw at the burial ground , who was someone who could have turned the world upside down to bring her back to life. Zoe seeks the Asad who saved her , comforted her , protected her like a baby in a pram- even when he slowly wears his winter coat again.
And Asad? It wasn't unexpected at all ,i mean, what we saw him today. For the first time in his odd 28-30 years, he allowed himself to be vulnerable to a feeling, a person whom he didn't choose and who was not given to him in inheritance and bloodline. For the first time in Asad's life, things didn't go according to his plan. His self-conditioned life and heart have gone for a toss, because his heart has dared to step out of Asad's boundaries and it has thrown it in his face - Look. This is how it feels to have a heart that beats for someone else. See. This is what you turn to when someone makes a trespassing but forever entry into your heart and your every nerve slowly but firmly learns to plunge towards that person. Understand. You cannot decide your life's plan. The one who is fated to be yours will find their way into your heart by hook or crook.
Result: Asad , having come to his complete senses , is psychologically and emotionally disturbed by the thought that his Hoity Toity Princess is making inroads into his heart. His introspection and his frustration in his room as his moments with Zoe haunt and taunt him don't show a very promising picture. Asad doesn't want to be in love and that only means more receiving ends for Zoe, maybe in a new package.
Whatever happened in Mangalpur in the last 24 hours is an emotional upheavel for Asad that he never thought will happen to him in his life. So, expect him to behave like a rabbit hopping on thorns as his behaviour goes hot and cold on Zoe.
For Zoe, the Asad she saw in her recovery phase is the Asad she never expected. And when she has seen that side of him - his emotional hysteria over her, his baby-like protection to her, his post trauma comfort and care for her, his tears , his agony , his precious treatment of her, she cannot get it out of her mind and heart. So, when Asad tries to go back to his winter coat, Zoe doesn't understand it - she just looks at him with those child-like eyes, searching for answers. And he looks away, torturing food, dinner plates and his own self by behaving as though nothing ever happened.
Now , its to be seen if Zoe manages to review her own heart and look beyond Asad's line of defence or does Asad's decision to live a loveless solitary life ruins both him and his Hoity Toity Princess.
Moments to watch out for :
1. Asad putting Zoe to sleep on his chest , while he himself recovers from the trauma.
2. Asad cleaning Zoe's face with his hankie and steadying Zoe's trembling hand.
3. Zoe thinking of Asad's emotional reaction while Asad goes to get her some water.
4. Zoe telling Asad that she felt she was still tied to him.
5. Asad's frustration over Zoe and himself in his room.
6. Zoe smiling at Asad and trying to talk to him while he averts his eyes and tries to hide behind the dinner.
P.S- Precap! Asad broke Zoe's heart to a million pieces because his own heart is sticking out its tongue at him. Dekhte hain ab Asad Miyaa, kahaan tak bhaagte ho. Jhakk maarke New York ko sasural banaana hi padega. Aaj nahiin to kal sahee. 😉
