Thank you friends for comments. Most of you felt update was short. This FF has usually long parts as I am trying break at logical parts. This update is also not particularly big but next few updates are. So just enjoy as the breaks are at logical ends and to avoid abrupt ending.

@Abi – Dear, I am sorry if you feel story is little stretched. From now on track will shift to Geet's emotions and hence I will really not want to cut it. Give it a try for another 2-3 updates and let me know if you still feel it getting boring, I will definitely try to speed up things.

@doublecross – Thanks dear for the song dedication. Actually when I was searching for songs, I also thought of this song but then looking at the situation favored Sita ki Uljhan. Thanks a lot.

Chapter 18 – Koi yeh kaise bataye

Late at night, Geet finally wiped her tears and poked her head out. It was dark and lights were dimmed. She took a cleaning cloth and wrapped it around her shoulders. She called for taxi and made her way out quickly.

Pinky looked at Geet wondering why she was so late but froze seeing her state. Her lip had a massive cut and she had bruises on her face.

"Geet…yeh kya hua."

Geet could not hold herself and hugged Pinky totally breaking down.

Only then Pinky noticed that she was wrapped in a cleaning cloth and her clothes were torn. She was very worried and made her sit in the sofa.

"Geet…yeh sab kya hai…please mujhe bata…kya hua...tu thik toh hai na"

Slowly in between her sobs and tear Geet narrated what had been happening in office, yesterdays events, her today's confrontation and then finally whatever transpired in the conference room.

Pinky could not believe something like this could happen on KC premises and she just hugged her tight.

After calming Geet a little bit she started convincing her

"Dekh Geet…trust me. I have been working with Khurana Constructions for last 3 years. Tujhe pata hi humari company is known for more than 50% female staff and the respect and female friendly policies. This is all because of Mrs. Khurana, Grand mom of Maan sir who handled this company for 5 years. Maan sir maybe tough but he considers her as the role model and he has only made the policies better and fairer for girls. KC has even got award because of this.

Trust me…you need to report this. Tu sirf apne bare mein mat soch yaar. Yeh soch that you are not the first or last case for a man like him. Pata nahi Chandigarh mein kya kiya hoga usne aur aage kya karega."

"Lekin…why will anyone trust me and main kya kahoongi…aur Maan sir…unke saamne toh jaane ki bhi himmat nahi hai meri. Agar unhone bhi mujhe hi galat samjha toh?"

"You leave that to me."

Saying this Pinky quickly called Adi Sir and told him that there was an emergency and if he could come to her house.

Adi though perplexed came to meet Pinky. They were good friends and Adi even liked Pinky though have never been able to voice his feelings.

But he could have never imagined what he saw when he came and was shocked to see a clearly hurt Geet.

Pinky quickly filled him with with facts avoiding embarrassing details but then Adi did not need to know those to understand what must have happened seeing Geet's condition. He sat in front of her and said gently - "Geet…please dekho…consider me as a friend and a brother. Jo kuch bhi hua uske liye mein personally tum se sorry maangta hoon. But sabse pehle you need to change and then come with me to the doctor."

He saw wariness in her eyes and hastily added – "Along with Pinky….I understand…tum Pinky ka haath pakad ke rakhna and we will go to a female doctor only."

He motioned to Pinky who helped Geet and took her inside.

Adi spoke to the doctor in private before taking Geet there. Geet sat almost like a zombie as doctor explored and fixed her wounds. She was little afraid but then on Pinky's insistence she allowed Dr. to take some pictures as well of wounds and discoloration around her face and hands.

dil-e-barbaad se nikla nahin ab tak koi
ik loote ghar pe diya karta hai dastak koi

Adi dropped Geet and Pinky home and asked her to take ample rest and not to worry about office. He even gave Pinky off till next weekend to look after her.

On the way back he dialed Maan sir's number.

"Yes Adi"

"Sorry Sir for calling so late par…woh mujhe aapse bahut urgent baat karni thi sir. Actually sir, aaj office mein ek haadsa ho gaya hai sir. I have got a harassment complaint sir and it does not look good sir."

Maan was furious after hearing to Adi's words- "What!!! Are you serious Adi…harassment complaint and in KC"

"Yes sir…actually I am just coming after meeting her sir. She is hurt a lot and I had to involve a proper doctor sir. I have asked for a report as well and it will be available tomorrow sir."

Maan could not believe Adi's words. In his entire career no one dared to disrespect a woman in his Delhi office as everyone knew how strict he was in such things. A year back, there has been a case in his Ahemdabad branch and he had ensured such harsh punishment for the people involved that out of respect and even fear, no one dared to engage in such activities.

"Who is "her" and who dared to do this?"

Maan's blood froze as he heard Adi's response. Suddenly the world stopped and he sank down in the sofa.

"Sir…sir you there."

Maan could just whisper her name - "Geet"

"Yes sir and she is in very bad condition sir. Bahut chot bhi lagi hai use sir and that is why I asked her and even Pinky to take off so that she can be looked after. Sir, after the incident, Pinky told me that Geet locked herself in a broom cupboard sir. She was there for hours till finally it was dark and late enough for her to come home."

Adi continued telling Maan about Geet's state without realizing that his every word was piercing his heart. His every word was drowning him into a sea of pain which even Maan himself could not have imagined for himself. His every word was like a blow and tears came out of his eyes.

"Sir!!!"

Maan cut the call not able to answer back to Adi. He hid his face in his hands and crumbled at the though of his jaan going through so much all alone while he was so close to her. He just sat there like a defeated man.

"How could I…how could I let this happen. That too to my Geet. God why? Why did I let her work with that bas***d. Why…my Geet…God she must be in so much pain. Pehle hi pata nahi kya kuch hua hai uske saath aur ab yeh. Geet….Geet!!!"

He was angry…he was in pain. He sobbed sometimes and sometimes threw things. Nothing could give him solace that night. All he wanted was to run to his Geet and hold her in his arms. Caress her, calm her and wipe her tears away. But he stayed alone, punishing and torturing himself…drowning in her pain.

Pinky stayed whole night with Geet who cuddled in her arms. Doctor had given her sleeping pills but even then she whimpered now and then in her arms as Pinky caressed her hair gently putting her back to sleep.
