Chapter 15

"Well,well,well...If it isn't the middle Scindia brother...Yash" said Tara in a mocking voice.

"It should have been you ..you know. I always had an eye on you. But looks like you were a little bit too satisfied at home to venture around" the woman continued giving a wicked look to Aarti.

"Now hand me over those CDs nicely and I will spare you..else its game over for both of you...you got that hero" she said coming closer and pointing the gun towards both Aarti and Yash.

"Shoot them off Tara...I will take care of the bodies. Why waste your time talking to them??" joined a bulky looking giant who came in after the woman and stood beside her giving Yash and Aarti an evil look.

"No...sweetheart...you are way too impulsive...and always in a hurry...even in bed" she winked at the giant while using a patronizing tone to pacify him.

"But we do not want the Police hounds come looking for us now..do we?" she questioned. To which Kalia nodded.

"Now what are you two thinking about...hand over the CDs or my friend Kalia here would eagerly finish you off" she threatened.

"You wretched woman...how dare you try and set up my brother? Making him intoxicated and then taking snaps like this" an enraged Yash spoke up.

"Hey...if you throw stones on dung some of it is bound to fall back at ya...don't blame her...go talk to that brother of yours. That pathetic excuse of a man!" countered Kalia.

"Mind your language... don't you dare bad mouth my brother or else..." Yash immediately moved ahead to deal with the giant.

"Or else what my Romeo...what can you possibly do...do you think you are strong enough to beat my Kalia??...Hmm sounds interesting...why don't we have a little contest...just to confirm shall we? Go get him Kalia" she prompted the henchman with her.

"Aartiji hold this"

Yash gave off the CDs to Aarti. He knew that if he destroyed them now it would surely provoke Tara. So till he had an escape route ready he had to keep it with him as collateral. He shielded Aarti when the goon Kalia approached her to snatch away the CDs.

"I will just crush you under my feet" he said placing his hand on Yash's shoulder.

Yash looked straight into the giant's eyes. He was not intimidated by the size of the moron. When Yash did not budge the goon got irked and he raised his other hand to punch Yash's face...which Yash was quick enough to dodge. The giant got all the more angry and started to fight in earnest.

There was a scuffle between Yash and Kalia. With each trying to ground the other to the floor, in the meantime Tara slowly inched towards Aarti...who was terrified that Yash would get injured somehow in the faceoff. She got hold of Aarti and tried to take away the CDs. Aarti fought her tooth and nail but did not let go of the CDs. This enraged Tara a lot who finally lifted the gun to point towards Aarti to shoot her.

Just then Ramesh who was hiding and witnessing the whole thing and awaiting a chance to come to Yash and Aarti's aid, jumped into action and snatched the gun away from Tara. She did not know that there was a third person too with them and hence was taken by surprise. Tara tried to call for Kalia but he was too busy getting beaten to dust by Yash.

Ramesh then fired the gun into the air, which made everyone stop.

"Yash come on let's get out of here" Ramesh called out.

As Aarti was about to move away Kalia took a huge log and tried to smash it on her head but before it could strike Yash put his hand in the way to deflect the impact. It was a painful blow to his right hand. Ramesh immediately shot the goon in the leg. He collapsed on the floor in pain and Tara rushed towards him.

As a parting shot Yash issued an ultimatum

"If you EVER...EVER...mess with my family the next bullet will be straight through your head. Mind it" with that Yash, Aarti went out with Ramesh giving them protection holding the gun towards the enemies and moving backwards out of the house.

"Yashji we should head to the hospital. You might have a fracture" Aarti said anxiously once they reached their car having destroyed the CDs.

"Do not worry Aartiji...it's nothing" Yash tried to ignore the pain.

"No Yash..she is right. Let us go the nearest Emergency room and have it looked at. No point in neglecting it" seconded a concerned Ramesh.

"Thanks for all the help, my friend. We could not have done it without you" Yash did not forget to thank his friend even when he was suffering from mind numbing pain.

"Some PI I am...you find the CDs, you fight the goon and you get injured. Maybe I should give you a discount" joked Ramesh.

On that all started laughing to lighten the heavy atmosphere which had set in as a result of the events taken place earlier.

Morning

"Yashji...Yashji... what are you doing? Where are you going off to?? Don't you remember the doctor advised rest?" said Aarti getting exasperated on coming into the bedroom and watching Yash getting ready.

"I get bored with nothing to do Aartiji" Yash tried to argue.

"Stop being stubborn, Yashji. Uff let me see...why are you trying to wear a shirt by the way, with that hand of yours?" Aarti could not understand.

"I need to go to the office Aartiji...and this was what I found first" Yash said talking about the shirt, deliberating misunderstanding Aarti.

"First..no going to office today...second if you still want to wear that shirt let me help you" said Aarti going near Yash and pushing his hands away and taking over the task of buttoning his shirt.

"No Aartiji...I can manage seriously..I can" Yash tried to protest.

"Stop being so shy Yashji...let me help you" said Aarti not listening to Yash.

Yash kept quiet and let her have her way.

"You know Yashji...It's OK to need someone sometimes Yashji" said Aarti busily buttoning the shirt.

At that Yash had to bite back a laugh. It's not just "sometimes" that I need you Aartiji.

I yearn for you ...need...you...want...you...always...always..Aartiji..always..only you.

She came closer still and adjusted the collar of the shirt. Yash's heart started its familiar rapid dance that happened every time Aarti came near him.

Breathe in breath out Yash...don't forget you need air to survive. But it was a struggle to remember even to breathe. Every breath he took he smelled that flowery smell of her so unique so very much like her..innocent yet spicy with a tinge of the unknown.

"I should have helped you take bath too you know. But I knew you would never allow that, far too proud to need anyone" she said not meeting his eye, and suddenly getting a picture of Yash under the shower in her mind.

Breathe in breathe out Aarti...don't forget you need to breathe to survive. That was soo not a smart thing to say. See now your hands are shaking.

Little do you know Aartiji. If I had you anywhere near me while I was taking bath I would have made a fool of myself in front of you. For my sanity I have to stay away from you.

Thank GOD that he did not test my strength in actually asking for my assistance while taking bath, what if I had actually gone to assist him take bath?? Here I am trying to help my injured husband and getting all worked up at being close to him. I would have made a fool of myself seeing him near naked in the shower.

With each button she closed the wanted to undo it again just so that she could glimpse that chest of his.

"Do you know Yashji...these days they are giving too much homework for the kids...I think I should speak with the teachers. They are in 3^rd standard for god sake...they get hardly any time to play as a result."

She was blabbering, she knew.

"Yes Aartiji I think we should go and meet the teachers...just to check" said Yash trying to get a grip over his senses.

But all the while what both were thinking was

I wish I could run my hands over him right now. Feel those muscles that are rippling under the shirt.

I wish I could pull her and bring her close to me.

I wish I could trace that proud nose of his.

I wish I could lick that little mole she has right there at the nape of her neck. It drives me crazy every time I look at it. And I always do try to have a look at it.

I wish I could kiss that mouth of his.

I wish I could kiss that mouth of hers.

And then all the talking, all the listening and pretense stopped. They gazed into each other's eyes passionately. Time stopped... Aarti lifted her head and closed her eyes. Yash bent his head and inched closer to her lips. Not able to believe that this was indeed happening. But too needy to question why it was happening.

Sometimes over analyzing the reasons just kills everything, just as it did for him in Mumbai.

He gazed at her upturned face lovingly, smiling to himself feeling the anticipation buzz through him.

"Aarti... Yash bhaiya...can you please come over...please.. the breakfast is served" called Vidhi loudly from outside.

And just like that the spell was broken and somehow it got back a lot of doubts that Yash had had since long time with it.
