Saif and Kareena really turned off a lot of people in the beginning of the relationship. The big tattoo, the public pronouncements at fashion shows and hugging on stage at Filmfare awards, releasing articles everyday about their love and how many vacations they're going on, talking constantly about living together and releasing personal pics all the time. The whole fairy tale vibe they tried to create but almost nobody bought because of the age difference and Saif being divorced with teenage kids. It's just not the kind of thing that most Indian people are going to love. There was way too much information out there and no mystery about them whatsoever. They annoyed almost everyone unlike say Aishwarya and Abhishek.

I do think Saif is right that people are generally not interested in seeing them together. However, if some spectacular film were to come along, they would get over their aversion and watch it. It's not easy though because how many fantastic Bollywood films are even there every year? Hardly any. For example, almost everyone I know hated Dabanng 2 even though so many saw it because of hype and it became a hit. Being a hit doesn't necessarily mean people loved a movie. Saif and Kareena need a really fantastic film which is not the same thing as just a big hit IMO. That's the only way some love will develop for them and that's a very hard proposition and an uphill climb. I can see why they don't even want to bother.

I agree with him on the fact that comfort kills chemistry baring few exceptions like Kajol-SRK

I mean look at Rani & Saif...amazing chemistry in hum tum bt in the other movies they did chemistry was lacking

Milan Luthria said himself that he told Vidya an Emraan to not talk much as it would impact the chemistry if they got too comfortable with each other...and results are there for very one to see...they had awesome chemistry in TDP 😃

Bt I liked this interview he is soo honest awww 😳

Maybe not to everyone but I seen chemistry of two people very comfortable with each other working before.

Haven't seen any of the movies where they acted together, I guess I didn't miss much there. Kareena I like but Saif is meh.

Their movies together actually, while not for the masses, have found appreciation with certain audiences.

For instance -

Some have loved Tashan coz its a throwback to the films of the 80s, pretty much a satire. But nothing serious

Dex and I liked Agent Vinod, though its a pretty dry film, but it has the Sriram Raghavan touch.

Kurbaan is also a good film if you wanna give it a try, but a lot of Muslims I know took offense to it because they felt like it needed to be more balanced. Perhaps they're right, perhaps making Kareena a Muslim as well would have helped. But I think its a pretty good movie. Very unhindi film like, in the sense that there is no lipsyched songs, most are in the background, its dark, etc.
