Dev's internet browsing for flower bouquets was interrupted by the shrill beep of his phone. He was more than surprised when he saw his uncle's name flashing continuously as an impending call.
"Manish Uncle? Is everything ok?" he asked once he'd answered the call.
"Not really, Dev," Manish kept one eye on the CCTV which showed the shivering failed hacker on one side of a wall with a crouching Geet and a confused Maan on the other side, their ears pressed against the door. "There's been a security hack into KC, I need you down there as soon as possible."
"A security hack?!"
Pammi, who was strolling past her son's room, stopped and hid well out of sight, but was near enough to eavesdrop. If Dev would realise she was the mastermind behind the attempted downfall, all hell would break loose.
Manish feigned worry and anxiety. "I would head down there myself but your grandma isn't feeling too well, and so I think it's best if I remained with her. I've already sent Maan to the premises but I felt that this needed more than one person to sort it out."
"I'm on my way," Dev replied, grabbing his jacket and rushing out of the room. Thankfully, he turned right to head towards the staircase ' if he had turned left, he would have seen his mother with her fist pressed to her mouth, looking whiter than white.

"Geet, you are not serious about brandishing an intruder."
Geet pointed her stiletto in his face. "Do I look like I'm joking? Does this 6 inch heel bring laughter to your mouth when it's aimed at your face?"
He pushed her hand away. "I get your point, just keep the darn thing away from me." Maan pressed his face to the door again. "It doesn't seem like he's doing anything though, it's strangely silent."
"Does a criminal ever put on a concert whilst committing crimes?"
"You'd think there'd be some clicking of a mouse or tapping of a keyboard though, surely?"
"I say we smack him in the head and give him a what for."
"Why don't we just call the cops instead?"
Their bickering was interrupted by sounds of sobbing, ricocheting through the door and off the hollow walls.
"Is he.. is he crying?!" Maan asked in surprise.

Dev had tried to find his mother before leaving the house, to explain the situation, but she was nowhere to be found.
Now, as he sped down through the Delhi night, there was only one person that came to mind who would have an inkling of what to do.
When she had first joined the office, he remembered a conversation they'd had during a lunch hour whereby she'd revealed her secret passion for IT software. She'd explained that she'd joined a IT technician society during university where she learnt the tricks of the trade. Her passion was a secret though, as not to taint her self proclaimed glamourous and womanly image. Nevertheless, it was that passion which had led her into business, she'd claimed ' the chance to still subtly channel through her love for all things technical whilst doing something that was more acceptable for a woman in society.
With those thoughts in mind, once Sasha had picked up the call, he proceeded to explain the entire hacking situation.
5 minutes later, he did a U turn in the road & sped back down the way he'd came.

"Do you have any tissues?" Geet whispered as they stood in the doorway, staring at the crying wreck that was the so called criminal.
He shook his head, and she sighed as she tentatively stepped forward, lightly tapping him on the shoulder as one would do to a pet.
"There, there."
Maan pulled out his phone to inform his father, but Geet stopped him before he could dial the number.
"Why not?" he asked.
"You're going to be the future CEO. Don't you want to prove that you can handle this by yourself?"
"Handle a crying burglar? God help me if I'll be endlessly faced with situations like this throughout my career."
Chitti looked up at the young man & woman, wiping his nose with the back of his hand. "I didn't mean to do this. I'm sorry," he wailed as he threw his head back into his hands.
Geet knelt down beside him. "Are you saying that someone hired you?"
Chitti froze. If he revealed the truth, Pammi would not let him live to see another day. The woman was more ferocious that the Bengal tiger his father had kept during his childhood.
Racking his brain for an explanation, he looked up at the curly haired woman, with eyes like a puppy dog. "I'm a poor man, with a starving family. This was the only option left. I thought that once I'd be able to take the financial security down, I'd be able to access the money more easily."
Maan pulled out his wallet & threw a wad of notes at him. "This should cover your meals for a week. Now, scoot."
"Whoa, wait," Geet stood up, her hands on her hips. She cocked her head to one side and analysed the nervous wreck stood before them. "I'm not buying your sob story. I want the truth, & fast."

"Can you think of anyone who would hack into KC?"
"Not that I'm aware of."
"Maybe Manish sir was hiding something?"
"Maybe. But then he'd alert the senior staff to be aware of any suspicious behaviour."
"How did this guy get in?"
"No idea."
"You think he had a pass? Could he be one of the employees?"
Dev pulled up beside Maan's car in the gateway. "Let's find out."
They jumped out of the car and hurried to the entrance, instantly heading for the finance office.
Sasha stopped in her tracks at the sight before her, with Dev quickly stopping behind her, narrowly avoiding ploughing into her.
Maan & Geet turned to look at the pair, clearing the way for Dev & Sasha to see what Chitti was holding out in front of them.
It was a letter, addressed to him, stating full details of the task that needed to be carried out.
Signed by Pammi Khurana.
