All right, the topic is inspired by the TOI View/Counterview debate of today--which was about Farhan Akhtar's comment on the 'skewed idea of romance'(Read: Stalking= Romance= Masculinity brand of romance) that Bolly is infamous for being too fond of. 😃
The Times view was opposed to Farhan's statement and included a line that said, "Farhan should first take a look at his own films like the Don franchise that glorify lawlessness and violence". Do you agree with this statement? Do films like the aforesaid, GLORIFY CRIME? Type away.

Yes definitely. Movies do have a great impact on people and when people like SRK who is considered to be one of th most influential person in india does a role where his character voilates laws and yet flees in th end, it definitely impacts people's mind in a wrong way. I would also say people need to differentiate between rel and real life and understand that they are just doing their job. But stars have a big impact on their followers.

Corrollary question= What makes a snide, smug, slimy, conniving, cold-bloodedly murderous character like this so popular with the masses? This question has, to be honest, puzzled me quited often. I don't see his charm really, apart from the James Bond-esque action and sets.

Even I like seeing movies/shows with bad boys.
Honestly, I don't mind seeing bad boys as long as they get due punishment for their actions.

But if good films like OMG, EV, 3I don't make good impact and change their views than why bad films works on them? I mean if bad film influence them to make them crime than good film should also influence them to do good work.

^But 'DON' is neither shown having a heart of gold nor any hint of something like a wronged past. Now, the whole 'Bad boys with a heart of gold' is a different deal altogether. In no way does Don fall in that category.

Especially when they are sold in an ultra-glam package. Not to forget, the glamourisation itself is a legitimising tool.
