Living solo, far away from the family, may appear intimidating to some, but our telly stars are not just comfortable but they love their solitary life.in fact some of them are quite gutsy to have come out trumps despite obstacles and mpediments, thanks to their grit and determination and the set of friends they have.
Gita Hari finds out more from some of the female tellywood stars who have ventured out alone and left their family behind to pursue their dreams in the big, bad and unpredictable city!

SIMPLE KAUL The Delhiite who had done theatre came to Mumbai alone with skepticism for company, "I came to get into acting in television. With thehelp of my uncle, I found a paying guest accommodation in Andheri and was given a map to understand the city's locations. Initially I shared the room with an airhostess and never felt lonely as I had friends here," says Simple, adding further, "you live life on the edge when you want to prove to your folks. You have no option but to be focused to fulfill your mission." Fulfill she did but during those frustrating times, it was her flat mateswith whom she got along well that helped her. What bogged her down was acclimatizing to the humid Mumbai weather. Otherwise, Simple observes,"Mumbai is better than Delhi as people in the capital are laid back and procrastinate while here things move really fast!" A party animal, Simple makes it a point to enter with a friend and her driver drives her back home.

SNIGDHA AKOLKAR: This girl from Indore, is used to staying alone for the past 12 years. Few know that Snigdha was pursuing her studies before the arc lights beckoned her, "I was in a hostel in Pune for studying further.Simultaneously, I shuttled between Pune and Mumbai shooting for serials on ETV and DD1. By then I was used to Mumbai and Purnimaji who played my ma-in-law in a Rajasthani serial on ETV helped me to settle here in a rented flat sharing it with another actress and also introduced me to several production houses." After he shot for a few pilot episodes for a UTV production that was later shelved, she was jobless during which time here minisces, "I felt bad to reject good roles in big production houses yet Iwas stubborn to do only heroine-oriented roles. In the meanwhile, I took care of myself by gyming, jogging and even babysitting my roommate's son." She does not indulge in late night parties as she puts it, "I am a boring person. I don't think beyond work. I am loving my work in this metropolis." She shares her highs and lows with Purnimaji and her Maasi who is now busy giving her investing tips on the actress's hard-earned money.

AASHKA GORADIA: She left her parents in Ahmedabad to pursue a career in acting and is in a rented apartment with her friend in Lokhandwala, with whom she bonds well. Her acting skill ensured her good roles in reputed production houses and channels. Her rumoured affairs with Raahil and now a builder did affect her but she managed to override those jagged paths to fame gracefully. She does not party often unless it's a channel's call. Popular as Kumud of Kusum, she is possessive about her cars and went through agony when she met with an accident on the highway while on her way to attend er parents' marriage anniversary. "But all that is part of life and one has to be resilient to face and overcome it," philosophises Aashka.

KIRAN DUBEY: Kiran stays all by herself near MHADA telephone exchange in Andheri. She was lucky to bag a Balaji Telefilms serial Kyunki…. as Karishma Virani but she did go through a roller coaster ride in her personal life then her

imbroglio with the pesky Karan Kapur was blown out of proportion by the media. Then she turned to become an entrepreneur, did a music video with Sonu Nigam for Akashdeep Saigal's film and finally she has found her soul mate in a sportsman who plays on foreign shores. About revealing his identity she says, "I am very happy and will reveal when the right timecomes."
