chapter 19
doctor - "Hi, my name is Dr. Grey. Oh is this Jeevika, what happened to you. I had just seen you a few days ago"
viren - "She started throwing up around 2 hours ago and then she complained of pain. And when we were bringing her here, her temperature started rising"
doctor - "Okay let me take a look. You're her fianc right?"
viren - "Yeah"
The doctor checked on Jeevika putting pressure on her stomach.
doctor - "Okay well there is some tenderness in the stomach. I'm going to run a few tests to check her hormone levels and blood count"
viren - "Hormone level, meaning you think she might be pregnant?"
doctor - "We're not sure yet. I'll send in the nurse to take the blood tests and hopefully we'll have the results back in half an hour. I'm going to prescribe some morphine to help her pain in the meantime"
viren - "Okay, thank you"
The doctor left and the nurse came in with a blood test kit. She found a vein and injected the huge needle taking out lots of blood"
nurse - "I'll take these to the labs right away"
The nurse left and Viren moved so he's be sitting on the bed with Jeevika. She moved her head onto his lap wanting to be held and comforted by him.
viren - "It's okay, everything will be okay. Don't worry. But Jeevika do you think you're pregnant?"
jeevika - "I don't know. Ughh Viren call the doctor!! Call someone the pain is getting worst"
Viren ran outside to call one of the nurses who went to page the doctor.
doctor - "Okay, jeevika we have to take you to surgery. You have an elevated number of white blood cells and the other tests show that you appendix needs to be removed right away before it bursts. Nurse please prep her and have the OR ready. I'll see you before surgery" he said leaving the room.
The nurse got Jeevika ready for the surgery and then a few other nurses came in to wheel Jeevika's bed out to the OR. Viren was holding her hand till the last point, until she had to go inside.
nurse - "We'll keep you updated. I think you should go to the waiting area"
Viren walkd to the waiting area and saw the whole family there. He guessed that Virat must have gone to go get them.
jeevika's mom - "What happened Viren? Where's Jeevika? What did the doctor say?"
viren - "Her appendix was about to burst. They've taken her into surgery to remove it"
jeevika's dad - "How long is it going to take? Do you know if the doctor is good? I want to make sure he's the best for my daughter"
viren - "Please don't worry, she will be fine. Jeevika knew the doctor personally and he said that they would keep us updated on her. They've just taken her inside"
vanshika - "I hope she becomes stable soon. Viren sit down, you look drained"
veera - "Here bhai drink this coffee"
viren - "I'm fine Veera. Virat take her home please, let her rest. I don't want Veera's health getting worst"
virat - "Come on Veera let's go"
veera - "Bhai i'm not going anywhere leaving you. I'm staying here with you" she said holding his arm.
viren - "Veera listen to me and go home. Come on Jeevika would have wanted you to go rest too right? Can you please listen to your bhai, please"
veera - "Okay fine, but call me as soon as she's out of surgery okay?"
viren - "Okay, I promise I'll call you. Virat why don't you take everyone home. I'll call all of you in the morning, okay. Virat you stay at home to, you've been running around"
swamini - "No Viren, let us stay here. Please we can't leave you here alone"
viren - "Don't worry, please just go home. I'll call you all first thing she comes out of surgery. You can come early morning, okay. There's no point in staying here right now"
jeevika's dad - "But beta, we want to see Jeevika. I can't just leave her alone"
viren - "She's not alone. I'm here with her. And anyways its way to late, and you guys better leave before the nurses tell us to do so. Please I'll inform you guys"
They all started walking out as Virat came back to Viren.
virat - "Bhai are you sure you don't want me to come back. I'll drop them home and come sit here with you"
viren - "Virat its fine don't worry. Just stay with Veera, I'm a little concerned for her. You remember she was having a headache a few hours ago, just make sure she's fine and that she doesn't have a fever"
virat - "okay bhai, we'll just go to our home then. See you soon"
Virat left taking everyone home and Viren kept waiting patiently in the waiting area for some doctor or nurse to come.
nurse - "The doctors are still in the OR with your fianc. It's taking longer than expected, but she should be fine. In the meantime can you fill out some paperwork we have for you"
viren - "Yeah sure"
The nurse gave Viren a bunch of things that needed to be signed and read. In his mind, he was just thankful that they were able to bring Jeevika on time. He was also thankful that he and Jeevika were back together, had they not been she would have been alone. It was all because of Veera. Just at that thought Veera called Viren.
veera - "Bhai is she out yet? Is she oaky?"
viren - "No, surgery is still going. Don't worry, you please rest"
veera - "Bhai please let me come to the hospital, I can't think or sleep or do anything. Please"
viren - "Listen Veera, you're not well. There are a lot of sick people here in the waiting area and you're prone to getting it. Please just stay home and rest. Get into bed and try sleeping, okay"
veera - "I'll sleep once she's out of surgery. Please call me the minute she's out"
viren - "Okay I will, now go lay down"
It was another hour before the doctors came outside and informed Viren that everything was okay. They told him that they would be moving Jeevika to her room soon and that he could go see her. The nurse asked Viren if he was going to spend the night at the hospital and he said yes. While he was waiting to meet Jeevika he called Veera first thing who picked up her phone before the first bell even. He told her everything went fine and that she should go sleep now.
nurse - "Jeevika's in the room. You may go meet her, third door straight down to the left. She's still very ver drowsy so she may not be able to talk and she's in a lot of pain"
Viren quickly went to the room to see Jeevika asleep on her bed. He also saw that the nurse had made sleeping arrangements for him to be with his love. Viren could hardly sleep, he just lay down near Jeevika watching her making sure nothing would happen to her.
