By "him" I meant the person send by Pammi to steal in KC... & NOT Dev...
He was strictly instructed under Pammi's orders to keep an eye on the surveillance for any possible intruders.
So when Chittesh, more commonly known as Chitti casted a gleaming eye over the small screens in the security office and saw none other than a lithe figure entering the building, he panicked and began to fumble with his hacker equipment in his hand.
Rather than abandoning the task in hand in order to save his own skin, Chitti tried to hack into the financial account of KC as ordered by Pammi in haste.
And of course, a task completed in haste might as well be a task not completed at all.

Manish mentally cursed his son as his attempts to contact him kept backfiring, but Maan was not to blame, in a roundabout sort of way.
It was the habit for the Khurana heir to put his phone on silent when distressed, in order to avoid all contact with the outside world.
He was aware of his phone flashing on the seat beside him as he sped down the highway at ridiculous speeds, hoping the rubbing burn of the tarmac against the tyres would in a similar way rub all thoughts of Geet Handa out of his mind.
But when Manish's incoming calls stopped flashing and Geet's incoming calls took over instead, he had to pull over and answer her call.

Manish watched with a furrowed brow as he switched from camera to camera - keeping an eye on Chitti's useless attempt to attack KC's financial accounts, whilst looking for Geet who seemed to have disappeared in the maze of the building.
"That darn secretary is too smart for her own good. I knew she was overqualified for this," he muttered as his eyebrows formed into a quizzical brow.

"Hello?" Maan spoke.
"Whatever just happened between you and me, forget it. I mean, don't forget it. Well, do what you want with the information but put everything aside and get to KC, as soon as you can."
"Geet, what's going on?"
"Your future is at stake here, and don't expect me to try and save it single handedly. I mean, I would... but I think I'm up against a much bigger force than the one I'm predicting..."
"Why are you talking about a force, we're not in Star Wars."
"Wasn't the force part of Star Trek? None of that crap matters Maan, just get here quickly, please!"
He stared at the beeping tone that emanated from his phone, then tossed it aside as he turned 180 in the middle of the road and sped back the way he had came.

"Stupid fool," Manish grumbled as he explained the situation to his senior security staff member over the phone. "He doesn't even know how to reboot the system. I wonder what crony she picked up from the streets this time."
"This time?" came the voice of Paul Del Rosa, as he processed the information his boss was giving him.
"It's not the first time she's tried to hack into the computer system of KC in an attempt for the business to crash. I've prevented it numerous times before; but I'm at the end of my tether with this game, & so is she. If she wants to play with fire-" He zoomed in on the footage of Chitti with a push of a button. "Then I will let her burn."
"I don't mean to undermine you boss, but this so called hacker would copied the information of a certified member to get into the building itself, let alone the computer system HQ."
"Pammi must have given him her pass to get in - and most likely, Dev's pass to get into the systems office. I know that boy would never abuse his position; however I didn't anticipate for his mother to go so far as to misuse her son's privileges. She should be grateful I won't let anything taint the innocent... or else Dev Khurana would never be worthy to hold his head high in the business world again."

When Maan had finally discovered Geet several corridors ahead, he found her crouched on all fours, peeking under the doors in the dim light of the empty corridors.
"Geet! What are you doing?!"
"Shh!" she turned around, a finger on her lips. "If the burglar finds us before we find him, we're doomed. You will have literally lived & died here." Her eyes widened as if to emphasise the horror of such a situation to Maan.
He stalked over and pulled her up by her arm, causing her to moan in protest.
"Get off of me, I am trying to save you and your family!"
"How are you so convinced that there's someone in here?"
"The main door had been opened. You know as well as I do that it's after hours, even for the janitors."
"Only those with a pass are granted permission inside. We have a security system fitted."
"Oh, well done Sherlock," she clapped her hands in mock delight. "That's what I'm trying to get across! Whoever the intruder is... they're one of us."

Manish felt like slamming his head against the table when he saw his son entering the building.
He picked up his phone, tempted to call him & tell him everything that he had planned in order to expose Pammi.
But maybe the perfect lesson will come out from this for Maan, he thought. So he sat back, arms crossed as he watched the drama unfold.

"Why would anyone want to break into KC?" he asked her as they took the elevator to the top floor, to check the main offices.
"Why wouldn't they?" she replied, swinging her heels in her hand. "There could be so many motives. Stealing important documents, stealing personal details, stealing money. Stealing anything really. This place is a goldmine."
"You're not helping, Geet," the door pinged open and they stepped out, making the familiar trek to Maan's office first.
"If it wasn't for me, you would have come to a metaphorical pile of rubble tomorrow morning. Aesthetically, the fancy lush building would be intact. But from the inside, where the core of the business lies, it would have been a pile of ash."
"Have you ever considered a career as a writer? Poet? Screenwriter for Ekta Kapoor?"
Geet shuddered. "I can't be doing with Kekta. That woman has a warped sense of reality."
Maan stepped into his office while Geet kept one foot in & one foot out, keeping an eye out for the intruder. When he gave it the all clear, with everything intact & nothing broken into, he performed the same check at his dad's office, and finally - with much reluctance and to Geet's persistence - checked Pammi & Dev's offices also.

On the 5th floor, where the systems office lay, Chitti was no closer to hacking into the computer system & bringing KC down to its knees.
In fact, he was far from it.
Sweat trickled down his small, beady face as he fiddled & fumbled with the software pieces in his hand, suddenly unable to function.
Chitti was not one for working under pressure. Any minute now, he anticipated a call from Pammi madam, demanding to know if KC had been financially ruined yet.
Chittars for Chitti, he thought, wanting to do nothing more than collapse against the wall & sleep his growing headache away.

Maan & Geet had checked the remaining floors of the office, but to their avail found nothing.
Maan had suggested giving up several times, but the forever stubborn Geet refused to believe what she saw was a slip of the imagination.
There was another in the building, & she knew it. She just had to find him.
When they reached the 5th floor, Maan performed his routine office cubicles check. But this time, instead of keeping lookout, Geet decided to go for a wander down the right corridor.
She kept as quiet as she could, tip-toeing as not to attract any attention. Lo and behold, her idea had worked.
Geet heard the unmistakable sniffling of a person, & stealthily retreated back to Maan, pulling him along with her.
She placed a hand over his mouth - to keep him quiet, and they crept along, until Maan's confused eyebrows straightened up at the sounds of the sniffling.
"Told you," she whispered; a whisper which Chitti heard amidst his sniffling & sweating. He froze in his tracks, dropping his portable mouse down onto the floor with a deafening thud.
"Are you going to karate chop the burglar, or shall I?" Geet offered.
Reserved.
Zarin look, I'm first again! 😃
