DISTANCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER
Riddhima frowned as the shrill noise of a sound disturbed her.It was 9 am in the morning and she was lying down on her bed in deep slumber.As the sound continuously struck her ear drum,she finally half-opened her eyes,stretched her arms to find her mobile and grabbed it.She was feeling too sleepy.She immediately received the call putting the cell's receiver side on her ears lazily.
RI: Hello
She said in a sleepy voice.
Voice: Riddhima
That voice was enough to vanish all laziness and drowsiness of Riddhima. Startlingly,she sat up on the bed and held the mobile tightly.
Voice: Riddhima are you there?
RI: Hmm
She could manage to simply say that as fresh tears slipped down her eyes.All the pain that was subsided as she dozed off around 6 am in the morning after crying the whole night,came back to her.
Voice: Riddhima I need to talk to you.Good morning.
RI: Good morning Armaan but what's so good in this morning.I don't have anything to say to you.Officer Armaan Malik, as far as I remember I told you last evening not to talk to me.I'm sure I've made myself quite clear about this. I don't want to talk to you.Bye.
AR: Riddhima plz listen to me once.
RI: Good bye Officer.Have a good day.
Bidding goodbye,Riddhima threw the mobile at one corner of the bed, hugged her knees keeping her chin on the shoulder on and closer her eyes. Her lips quivered owing to the unbearable heart-ache that has been present since that sleepover night. A stream of tears slid down her closed eyelashes while she clutched her gown tightly on her knees.
About half an hour later,Riddhima finally managed to compose her overwhelming emotions and decided to get ready for another new day without Amaan.She smiled sarcastically as she realized that this is what her future is.Her future lies with Rohan,not Armaan.But then again her stupid,idiot heart seems to forget the most important truth of her life all the time.That rhythmically beating pulp of muscle only remembers one name-Armaan and that name does not belongs to her. Taking her clothes from the wardrobe , she went towards the washroom.

Armaan banged his mobile on the wall just a second later when Riddhima cut his call breaking that poor thing into good number of pieces.Riddhima was completely mad at him.She called him Officer Armaan Malik,her tone was extremely formal and it seemed as if she was not at all ready to hear a single word from his side.He can bear anything but Riddhima's sorrow. Her voice appeared so formal yet painful. He knew she had tears in her eyes using such harsh words for him. He cursed the moment when he said yes to stay back for that sleepover. Just one night changed so many things between them. He knew she was Rohan's fiance but atleast she was present in his life as a friend. But today just to escape from her questions,he has brought them to this stage. He himself was responsible for the distance between them.He can't see his Riddhima in such a situation.Atul has already told him about the broken state of Riddhima after he didn't contact her for almost a week.After he called yesterday,he knew that she was completely shattered by his behavior. His head was buried in his palms while his legs hanged down on the floor as he was sitting on the edge of his bed.His bloodshot red eyes which were devoid of sleep for even a single second held enormous pain in them.As he felt something wet on his cheek,he was completely surprised to find a drop of tear on her fingers as wiped off the damp thing from his kin.He thought that he could never cry.But he was soo wrong.Today it was proved to him that love could do wonders to a person.He didn't cry even when his grandfather whom he loved more than his life passed away.He absorbed all the grief inside him and didn't shed a single tear as his dadaji took a promise from him to not to mourn over his death. Like a dutiful grandchild, he kept his promise and never let his tears fall down from his eyes. But today he felt as if his heart would burst. The heart ache was becoming intolerable now.Why was life so unfair to him?Why did he have to go with so much pain? He never wished ill for anyone ever in his life.so why was God punishing him so much?Why did he fell in love with a girl who was already committed to someone else? Why? All these questions raised in his head time and again as he remembered the past week. Life without Riddhima was just like a rose without its fragrance. While living with Riddhima for a good amount of time her smiles, her laughter, her melodious voice,her affectionate gestures and her amusing tactics have slowly become the reason of his good mornings and good nights.When Riddhima got the bail,Armaan was happy for her eventhough she went far from him because he could talk to her and meet her anytime he wants.But today,Riddhima told him that she is not interested to have a conversation with him.She ofcourse didn't wish to see his face right now. His thoughts came to a halt as he got a call from the office. His face showed a sign of relief as he heard the person on the other end speak.After the call ended,he began to get ready for the office as he was needed there right now.

Atul and Anjali in Malik mansion in their room
Anjali was getting ready in front of the dressing table after getting fresh,while Atul was wearing his shoes while sitting on the sofa.
Atul stopped tying his laces as he heard his pregnant wife speak:
AN: Atul I don't know what's wrong with Ridzy.She has not been herself since few days.I tried to ask her a few times when we were alone but she changed the topic.She looks quite tensed.
Atul knew the reason behind his sister-in-law's worries but he was not clear if he should discuss it with Anjali or not.Riddhima's behavior around Armaan completely confused him.He has never seen Ridzy like this.She was so different whenever Armaan was present.The way her eyes looked at Armaan amused him at times.Sometimes he felt as if his sis-in-law in attracted towards his brother.But then her deep bond with Rohan and the fact that she is already engaged makes him shrug off this thought.He was deeply confused about Riddhima's feelings since the day he went to meet her during the house arrest times.But the past one week has showed that Armaan held a very important space in Riddhima's heart. As Armaan went away, he took away the smile from the charming face of Ridzy. After observing Ridzy for a week,Atul had come to the conclusion that Armaan certainly held a lot more importance in her life than expected.Atul has witnessed the friendship between the two.But now he really needs to find out if they both mutually feel something for each other.He has begun doubting Riddhima's feelings for Rohan. He has seen Riddhima at a comfort level with Armaan quite different from the one she shares with Rohan.Once Armaan comes back,he has decided to keep a close eye on Riddhima and try to decipher her true feelings for him.He needs to see if Riddhima likes Armaan or simply shares a very deep friendship bond with him.
AN: Atul where are you lost?I'm calling you since past 5 minutes.
Atul came out of his thoughts at a jerk and looked left finding Anjali by his side.
AN:Did you even hear what I said?
AT: Yes Anjali.I know that you are worried for Riddhima.I'm also unable to understand her.I think she is a bit tensed about her case.
AN: You may be right.But at times I feel that she misses Armaan.Whenever we go to meet mum,dad n her,she always asks about Armaan from you.
AT: Yeah! May be..Armaan and Riddhima have become great friends in a very short span of time.
AN: Hmm.After ll my brother-in-law is such an amazing person.Anyone would love to be his friend.
AT: My saali is also very special and the most innocent soul on this earth.Armaan had no chance but to befriend her.
AN: Shut up Atul.My devar is the best. But I'm really worried for Ridzy.I can't see her in this state.
AT: Anjali baby plz don't take stress.It's not good for you and our baby.
Atul held Anjali by is one hand resting his palms on her shoulder and made her head rest on his own shoulder.With the other hand he caressed her stomach bulge and said: You should stop worrying Anjy otherwise your BP will rise.Riddhima will be fine soon.
AN: Atul I'll take care of my baby and as you say my hubby dear,I won't take any tension.
She smiled looking at him while he pplanted a soft kiss on her forehead.
AN: I love you hubby
AT: I love you too wifey.I think people say it right.Pregnant women really glow. You are becoming beautiful day by day.
Anjali blushed a little and looked down.Atul lifted her chin up and kissed her soft lips in a gentle manner for a long time taking away all her troubles making her forget everything for a while.They were ready to go down for the breakfast but the kiss that began on a gentle note,soon turned them demanding.Anjali craved for her husband's touch eventhough they had made love last night for a long time.It seemed as if her hormones were working up on her.Atul was simply drowned in the fragrance of his lovely wife's skin and soon passion took over all their senses.

Riddhima remained in her room the whole day.When Rohan brought the lunch to her room,he found her staring into vacuum. Her eyes looked lost.It seemed as if she was a wandered in desert looking for an oasis.It was complete 1 week +1 day since she has seen Armaan.It was true that she was angry from him but after hearing his voice,she carved to see him.She lingered to feel his strong muscular arms around her body,she desired to feel his soft lips against her forehead and she wanted to simply spend time with him and talk about everything and nothing.She was deeply hurt by Armaan's indifferent attitude towards her.She missed the times when she lived in the house arrest where her day began with Armaan and ended with him as well.She loved him and she had no control over it.No matter if she makes her brain repeat that she is Rohan's fiance 1,00,000 times a day,even then every single heartbeat of hers recited the name of Armaan. She wondered why there were so many problems in her life.First she was accused for a crime in which she had no fault at all, next she falls in love with the man who is not her fiance and last she simple can't live without her love.It seemed as if Armaan had become oxygen for her.Now, the only desire of her life was ARMAAN.But she can't even tell him that she loves him because he is already in love or he was in love once upon a time because he once said to her that he doesn't believes in love.
Riddhima's chain of thoughts broke as she felt a hand on her shoulder.She was sitting hear her window looking outside at the cloudy sky.
RO: Riddhima kahan khoyi hui ho?You didn't come for lunch also.That is why I brought food for you here.
RI: Thanks a lot Rohan but I'm not hungry.
R: Riddhima plz don't you dare say that. Last night also,you remained inside your room.You had already skipped dinner, during the breakfast I saw you playing with your food and eating negligibly.Now I won't allow you to skip lunch.
RI: Rohan plz don't force me.I'll get sick if I at this food right now.I just can't eat any food now.
RO: Riddhima stop arguing.I'm not letting you skip your meals anymore now.Riddhi I know that you are deeply tensed about something but plz don't ignore your health because of your stressful situation.You know na if anything happens to you or you get then I go all crazy.I don't want to get sick.Please eat something,for my sake please.
Riddhima didn't have the heart to say no as Rohan pleaded her so sweetly.
Rohan fed Riddhima small bites and she quietly ate the food by his hands.She admired him for his unbound love and concern for her.
On one hand, is this man whose world starts and ends with her and on the other hand is Armaan who has all of a sudden disappeared from her sight and remembers her after one week.Why couldn't she love Rohan?Why Armaan only?She never imagined that she'll fall in love so easly with someone.But the truth is that she is irrevocably in love with Armaan Malik.
Riddhima adored the way Rohan fed her the whole food patiently without a single frown on his face.He surely deserved all the happiness of ths world.Since childhood,he has always been there for her in all her good and bad times.She never knew that he was in love with her since their childhood days.When they were about to get engageged,one night Rohan confessed his feelings to her while they had gone for a walk on the beach and there only he told her that he dreamed of her as his life partner since he came to understand the meaning of the word LOVE.Riddhima was astonished by Rohan's confession but she was honest with him.she said that she could not reciprocate his feelings right now.She ensured him that as they are going to exchange rings and finally getting married, she 'll start thinking about him as her life-partner.Rohan was hopeful that one day his Riddhi will love him back just like the way he loved her.
As Rohan finished feeding her,he took both her hands in his and said: for the first time ever,my Riddhi has not shared her problems with me but still I pray that all the problems of my Riddhi may come to me and God may give my share of happiness to you.What has happened to you Riddhi? I can't see you like this.Please tell me what's wrong.
RI: Rohan I'm fine.I just don't know myself why I'm upset.I really don't know why I feel so depressed.
RO: If you wish to stay quiet in this matter then plz do so but don't try to lie to me.Riddhi whom are you trying to fool,me or yourself?I still remember how you used to come running tome for even the silliest and smallest problems and today you have began hiding things from your best friend.Riddhi I'm ready to give you all the lifetime but plz try to get over your issues.I want my cheerful and happy Riddhi back.
Riddhima just stared at Rohan.He knew her so well.His love and affection for her made her feel even more guilty.What was Rohan's fault if she fell in love with Armaan.Why should she let Rohan suffer by distancing herself from him and the whole family because of a man who least cares about her.But Armaan does care for her.He is really worried for her.A voice raised up from the bottom of her heart.So what if he cares? The way he has behaved with her since the past 1 week made her conclude that she didn't hold much importance in Armaan's life. She looked at Rohan who offered her a glass of water and found the deep ocean of love in his eyes for her.She was definitely not doing right with Rohan.She was keeping him deprived of all his happiness by living in her bubble of heart ache and heart break.No,she didn't have the right to do that.She needs to give Rohan all what he deserves.Now, she'll give her and Rohan's relationship a chance,she decided in this moment.She'll try to get over Armaan and spend more and more time with Rohan.Moreover,it's Rohan with whom her destiny is already tied up and not Armaan.
Little did she know that fate has got its own twists and turns and life does not remains the same in future as it seems to be in the present,
Riddhima heard Rohan say: Riddhim now you plz take rest ok and don't over work your brain.
He kissed her forehead and turned to leave her room but Riddhima caught hold of his wrist.
Rohan turned back and looked at her confused.Riddhima moved a step ahead standing quite close to him and whispered slowly while keeping her eyes closed: Kiss me Rohan.Just kiss me and make me forget all my problems.Please.

Rohan asked getting all concerned with Riddhima's emotional turmoil.
RI: Rohan plz just make me feel that I belong to you.I just want to remember that we are going to be together always.Please Rohan.
Rohan could not see his Riddhi like this.
He cupped up her face with worry lines on his forehead. He saw her closing her oceanic lenses as he leaned his head and moved it towards her. Riddhima's heart thudded with fear, anxiety and so many feelings. She has never ever been kissed by a man in her life. Her heart skipped a bit as she felt Rohan's breath on her face. Rohan noticed the effect he had on her in this close proximity. He could feel her quiver under his touch. Little did he know that Riddhima was actually shivering due to fear. His touch did nothing to her. Her lips quivered in anticipation and closed eyelashes fluttered rapidly. A smile formed on his face as he admired her beauty. For him, she was the most beautiful woman on this earth. He had never imagined that he would hear such words from Riddhima. He was ready to wait for a lifetime to let his Riddhi fall in love with him. But today she herself had taken a step forward in their relation. She asked him to kiss her. She needed his physical comfort to soothe all the sadness in her life. His heart swelled in pride as he realized that she needed him in the worst moments of her life and she desired to break all the barriers between their relationship finally. His eyes caressed her trembling lips lovingly. As he replaced his gaze on her lips with his kissers, he felt empty. Startlingly he opened his eyes as he felt Riddhima move back.
RO: Riddhi?
Rohan was left in a dilemma when Riddhima disrupted the dreamy perfect moment before it could even begin.
RI: I'm sorry Rohan.I think I'm still not ready.
Rohan composed all the desires inside him as his heart was jumping with joy and excitement after feeling his Riddhi so close to him.He was a man after all. He closed his eyes and cooled down himself before walking closer to her,holding her hand and making her sit on the couch.
RO: Riddhi why do you say sorry?It was you only who decided to take our relationship to the next level and you have got all the right in this world to take back that decision.I've no hurry Riddhi.I know that you still don't feel the way I do for you.Trust me,I'm ready to wait for a lifetime to make you comfortable in our relationship.All I want is just you beside me in every phase of my life just like you have been there with me till now.
RI: Rohan why do you love me so much?I'm not worthy of it. I can't even reciprocate your love.I don't deserve so much love. I don't deserve you.
She started crying after uttering those words. Hearing about Rohan's feelings from his own mouth made her feel even guiltier. All the emotional turmoil that she has been facing since the past one week went overboard and she completely broke down in Rohan's arms. She hugged him sideways and cried bitterly stating all those heart wrenching words. She felt pathetic. Here is one man who is ready to sacrifice anything for her even his own happiness and here she is who can't give him even a little happiness. She felt miserable for not letting Rohan have all those moments which a man desires to spend with his fianc. Why was God so harsh upon her? Why has she fallen in love with Armaan?Why did she fell for a man who is in love with someone else or used to love someone and does not believes in love anymore now.Why?
Rohan looked down at Riddhima whose head rested on his shoulder.He lifted up a hand,wiped off his tears with his fingers and said looking deep into her eyes:
Rohan: Riddhi plz stop crying'..and never ever say these words.I can't bear anything against my Riddhi. I can't let you to curse my Riddhi. My Riddhi is the most innocent soul of this universe. She is the best person I've ever met in my life. She loves everyone around her and spreads happiness. She is the best daughter, best sister, best doctor, best friend and a beautiful fianc. I love you so much Riddhi. Plz stop crying. There is nothing wrong if you can't love me back. Love just happens, Riddhi. We have no control over it.Stop feeling guilty.Riddhi plz stop yaar.I can't see you like this. Why are you so troubled? Why can't you share your problems with me?I'm your best friend damn it.Before I go crazy by thinking the reason behind your worries,please spill the beans.I simply don't want to see you anymore like this.I'll do anything to bring my old cheerful Riddhi back.Plz tell me Riddhi what's wrong?
He cupped up her face and wiped off all her tears from her face.

Riddhima kept her fingers on his mouth.
RI: Don't you dare say anything like this again.
RO: Then plz share with me what is bothering you soo much.
RI: Rohan it's just that I was worried about a case a bit. Moreover, I have been thinking about our relationship and feeling guilty for not being able to give you all what you deserve as my fianc.
RO: Riddhima as your fiance, mujhe bas tumhara saath chahiye. Don't desire anything else other than you Riddhima.

RO: Riddhima if I had known earlier, that I am the reason behind your sorrowful face then I would have made your mood better only yaar.Why didn't you tell me Riddhi?For the last time I'm saying Riddhi that stop feeling guilty. I am extremely happy and contended that we are going to spend all our life together.This fact is enough to keep me delighted all the time.Riddhi I don't think that it was something that you could not discuss with me.Why didn't you discuss it before?
RI: I myself don't know the reason Rohan. I was feeling a bit shy as well. Emm I was so confused about everything that has been happening around me since I got into this case. My life has changed so much. Everything is just too much to take in for me right now.I just don't know why I'm feeling so depressed.
RO: Riddhima my love.Why do you put so much stress on your peanut brain yaar? Plz don't worry about anything.I'm there na.Yoiur best friend is here and as usual I'll set everything right for you. Armaan is also there na. He is handling this case very well. I'm hopeful that very soon the culprit will be caught and you'll be a free bird once again. Riddhi you have got so many people in your life to take care of everything. Why do you worry so much haan? Don't worry I won't let anything happen to you.And please stop thinking about my happiness. Whenever I'm with you, I'm the happiest person on this earth. For instance this moment is really special to me as we are just sitting over and discussing your issues. Every single minute spend with you becomes beautiful for me.Trust me Riddhi,I have no more desires.I just want to see you smiling always.Promise me that you'll not think about our relationship and getting worried like this now.Promise me Riddhima.
RI: Rohan you are a gem of a person,you know. I'm so lucky to have you as my best friend and future life partner.I promise not to overthink anymore.ok
RO: That'slike my Riddhi.Now give me the Riddhima special smile please.I'm dying to see you smiling happily and the glint of joy in your eyes.
Riddhima smiled broadly trying to conceal the bitter truth about her heart's feelings as much as she can.
Rohan hugged Riddhima sideways as she smiled and placed a loving kiss on her forehead.
RO: you seem to be tired a bit after so much crying. Take some rest. I'll see you in the evening ok.
Riddhima nodded. They both stood up from the couch. Rohan walked Riddhima to bed. Making her lay down on the bed,he covered her with the blanket and went out of her room.

Riddhima closed her eyes and tears slipped down from the corner of her eyes. She cursed herself for getting so mad at Armaan and asking Rohan to kiss her. She felt terrible feeling that she had played with Rohan's feelings today. First she herself showed him a ray of light in their relationship and then removed the might herself once again. She was extremely disappointed with the stunt she had pull on today in her anger. Now she understood why people say that people go crazy in love.No matter how much infuriated she was after Armaan's act,she could never ever betray her feelings for him.She was feeling guilt-ridden for loving Armaan inspite of being engaged to Rohan and in that remorse,she asked Rohan to kiss her and decided to give one chance to her relationship with him.But she became helpless by her heart.It can never let her move forward.The moment Rohan could have kissed her,heart overpowered her brain that made her act like this till now and stopped her from making the biggest mistake of her life. She sighed in relief as she felt that she was controlled her emotions at the right time. But then this relaxation left her in more guilt. She felt extremely bad for treating Rohan like this. Why can't God let her move on? Why can't this stupid heart stop reciting Armaan's name 24*7? Why can't she just forget everything about Armaan and live happily with Rohan? She bit her lower lip in frustration as she realized that she has gone to such a great extent in love with Armaan that there is no turning backward point now.Armaan will be the only man in her life. She can never ever love anyone else. She never knew when she dozed off while she was deeply engrossed in the web of her thoughts.

Riddhima saw Armaan smiling towards her.
RI: Armaan I missed you sooo much.Do you know how much I craved to see you? Where did you disappear all of a sudden haan?
AR: Riddhima I'm really sorry.I could not inform you and go.Because of some office work,I had to urgently leave abroad.I tried to contact you but then my sim was changed and I didn't have your number.I had lots of work in my hand and that's why I could not call you.but why do you look so weak and disturbed?You screamed on me and got really angry on the phone.Why were you soo hurt Riddhima?
RI : Because I love you damn it.Can't you understand this? Yes Armaan Malik I love you.I don't know when,how and where but yes I'm irrevocably in love with you.I know that you don't love me but still I love you.
Riddhima stopped speaking as she saw Armaan coming closer to her with small steps.
AR: I've been dying to hear these 3 magical words from your mouth Riddhima.I love you too.
One more step and he could have engulfed her in a hug but a sharp sound shocked both of them.Riddhima's eyes widened as she saw blood oozing out near Armaan's left side of the chest.
AR : I love you Riddhima
Armaan said and fell on the ground while Riddhima shrieked: Armaan
Riddhima panted and sweat beads formed upon her face as she screamed Armaan's name so loudly.
A minute later, Shashank,Padma,Rohan along with Atul and anjy who had come to meet the parents stood near Ridz.
Sh: Riddhima beta tum theek toh ho.
Riddhima looked up in shock hearing her father's voice. She looked around the surroundings confusingly. Slowly she realized that she was dreaming. She breathed a sigh of relief as she concluded that nothing happened to Armaan.
Rohan offered her a glass of water which she immediately took and drank in.
RO: Riddhim are u fine now? Why did you shriek?
RI: I saw a very bad dream Rohan.
Riddhima could not help but feel restless. Her eyes stung with tears as she recollected what she saw in that horrible dream. Armaan was shot. Just the mere thought of this dreadful dream send a chill down her spine.
Anjali sat near Riddhima and took her in hug.
AN: Stop crying baby.It was just a stupid dream.
Riddhima calmed down after a while and wiped her tears after coming out of the hug.
R: I'm sorry ,you guys got worried because of me.
Padma: Riddhima beta why are u saying like this? You are still my small little Riddhima who gets afraid of nightmares. Don't say like this.
RI: Mom I love you so much.
She stood up and hugged her mother.Only her mother's caresses can give her some peace right now.Her heart was beating rapidly.She could not express how much anxious she was at this moment.Why the hell did she see a dream and that too such a bad one in an afternoon nap? Was it God's indication that she and Armaan can never be together or was it an omen? Is Armaan alright? Oh no!! She has no idea about Armaan's whereabouts and nor does she know if he is fine or not.
Padma made Riddhima sit on the bed and then gently placed her head in her lap and smoothened her tresses by her palms.
Everyone else got seated on the couch in Riddhima's room.Atul carefully analysed Riddhima's behavior calmly while Rohan had lines of worry on his forehead watching his Riddhi like this.She looked scared.
For the next 5 minutes everyone was silent but then Padma spoke,
P: Riddhima bachi are you alright now
RI: I'm fine mom.
SH: Riddhima your face is still pale.Was the dream soo bad?
RI: Please don't talk about the dream papa. I don't want to talk about it. She said and got up from her mother's lap.
Riddhima badly wanted to know if Armaan is alright or not. She immediately looked at Atul and composed herself first before saying: Di,jeeju when did you guys come?
AN: When you were busy taking your short nap Riddhi.We came around 5 pm.
RI: OMG!! I slept a bit long.It's 6 now.Di you are taking care of yourself and the little prince na?
Before Anjali could speak,Atul interrupted.
AT: Riddhima it's going to be princess like Anjali and not a prince ok.you.
AN: shut up Atul.It's going to be a boy.I've made myself clear very before.
AT: Anjali darling I want a princess just like you.
RO: OMG!! Stop fighting you too.Didn't you get an ultrasound?
AN: No my would be jeeju.We thought to keep the baby's gender a surprise for us.
RI: wow! Di that's so cool.By the way jeeju how is everyone at home?How is Juhi aunty?Tell her I'm missing her.
Atul's ears alarmed.He knew very well the motive behind Riddhima's question.She wanted to know about Armaan's well-being by this question.
AT: Everyone is fine at home.I'll give her your message saali sahiba.
Riddhima looked at Atul eagerly wishing he may speak something about Armaan but he didn't.she was disappointed.Atul deliberately didn't mention anything about Armaan and he didn't fail to notice the disappointment on her face.
RI: That's nice.Let's go in the hall and have some coffee.
All nodded and went to the hall.
RO: Riddhi are you not coming along?
RI: Rohan you go,I'll be joining you guys in a while.Let me get fresh.
Rohan nodded understandingly and went away.
Riddhima felt suffocated. She does not know how to contact Armaan because his old number was out of reach. Something struck her brain suddenly. She picked up her mobile frantically and tried to call Armaan on the number from which he had called her.She threw the mobile on the bed in frustration as the mobile operator said: The number you called is not reachable.She felt extremely miserable right now. Her heart thud rapidly against her chest and she got nervous with every passing second.The thought of whether Armaan was fine or not was making her crazy.She went to the washroom and took a bath to relax her nerves in vain. The dream was still not out of her mind.She does not get dreams in the afternoon naps. This is the first time when she has dreamed about Armaan and the content of the dream has driven her to the edges. Armaan's safety was eating her up inside.she didn't know what to do.The four walls of her room and this house appeared like a cage to her.She decided that she should go out and try to divert her mind from Armaan.It was just a mere dream. It can't be true.. She thought that by taking some fresh air, Armaan's thoughts may stop following her for a while. Armaan must be fine. She consoled her heart. She inferred that she needed a distraction desperately. She got ready in a violet coloured sari and went down stairs in a hurry holding her mobile and purse.
Everyone looked at Riddhima surprisingly when she walked towards Rohan in a hurry and said: Rohan please take me out somewhere. I need fresh air. I'm feeling smothered. The depression is getting on my nerves now. I can't take this anymore. Let's go somewhere please.
Everyone looked at Riddhima with a worry.
SH: Riddhima beta what happened?
RI: I don't know pap I just want to go out.
RO: But Riddhi you know that Armaan has asked you not to leave the house.You might get in danger.I can't risk your life.
RI: I'll die if I stay here anymore Rohan. For God sake take me out damn it or I'll go alone.
All were surprised to hear Riddhima talk to Rohan in such a frustrated and harsh tone.
Atul kept a hand on Rohan's shoulder and indicated him through signals to give into her wish. Being a doctor he knew that Riddhima's demand should be fulfilled now. She seemed extremely disturbed. Rohan sighed and said: OK Riddhi but promise me you won't be out of my sight even for a minute.
RI: I promise now let's go.
As soon as they reached the gate of the house in a Volvo, the FBI officers that Armaan had assigned for Riddhima's safety stopped them.
Officer: Ma'am you can't go anywhere.Armaan sir has told us not to let you go somewhere.
RI:Officer I know why Armaan told you this.But today I'll go mad if I don't go out.Plz try and understand.
Officer 2: But ma'am we can't allow you to go out without Sir's permission.
Riddhima was about to speak up but Rohan held her hand and indicated through his eyes that he'll handle the matter hereafter.
RO: I think court has given bail to Riddhima. She can roam anywhere in Ne York but not leave this city.
OF: But Armaan Sir.
RO: It's not Armaan but I who happens to be her fianc would decide what is good for her and what is not.So please back off and let us go. Tell Armaan to talk to me.I promise to take good care of her.Don't worry.
The officer stopped interfering sensing the seriousness in Rohan's voice and let the vehicle zoom off from the gates of the house.
Riddhima looked outside the window and send a silent prayer to the God to keep Armaan safe.She was extremely worried for him now.She herself didn't know how many times she has made the same prayer till now.She felt as if something bad is going to happen.
RO: Riddhi where do you want to go?
RI: Anywheer Rohan. I just want some peace.
Rohan took her to the Brooklyn bridge .
RI: How do you always know what I want Rohan?This place is so calm and beautiful. I feel soo wonderful after getting out after ages.
RO: We are best friends Riddhi. If we won't know the needs and wants of each other then who else will know haan?Come here.He took her hand and they both stood near the railing facing the river.
Riddhima looked at the East River flowing beneath the bridge and closed her eyes while Rohan admired his fianc.She was the most beautiful lady on this planet, he thought. His lips curved into a smile as he saw the peaceful smile on his Riddhi's face after such a long time. He was glad that he brought her here.
All the events since that sleepover night came back to her mind once again. She still remembered how much shocked and hurt she was after knowing that Armaan loved someone.After everyone went to bed,Rohan came back to the hall to check all the doors and found Riddhima rooted at the same position as before.He was surprised to find her there.He brought her back to the earth by breaking her chain of thoughts with a tap on her shoulder and asked her why she was still here.
She made a mere excuse and took leave from him to retire for sleep stating that she has got too exhausted. Rohan was definitely surprised by Riddhima's weird behavior.He knew that she was disturbed by something because her face had lost all its colour but he didn't probe her much thinking that like all the previous times, she will share her problems with him very soon.
Riddhima went back to her room and fell on the bed by burying her face in her pillow.It seemed as if her heart was crushed into millions of pieces.Armaan loves someone or maybe he loved someone. But yes he has/had someone in his life. This mere thought was enough to shock the daylights out of her.Just one statement of Armaan turned her world upside down in a fraction of seconds. Her heart ached and she kept mourning over her ill fate till morning.
In the morning when everyone assembled for breakfast in the hall,she was surprised to see Armaan absent there.She turned green as she heard Niki saying that Armaan told Niki to tell everyone that he got a call from the office early morning and had to leave urgently.
Riddhima was hugely disheartened by the fact that Armaan didn't even wait to say Good-bye to her.
Her heart consoled her that he might have not wished to disturb her sleep but her brain said: He could inform Niki but not her.
She felt extremely upset. The whole day she was in a sad mood.She expected to get a call from Armaan atleast where he would apologize for not bidding her goodbye properly before leaving. Her heart sank when one day passed like this. And then another day passed the same way. Feeling extremely restless,she decided to call him on the third day but her attempt falied as Armaan was not there in the office and his current mobile number was not working any more. When she asked about his whereabouts at the office,they told they never have any idea about Armaan Sir's whereabouts.
Today it has been 1 week and 1 day since that night and she has not seen Armaan.Only her heart knew how badly she wished to see Armaan fit and fine right now infront of her eyes.She held back the tears that formed in her eyes and prayed once again for her beloved's well-being.The cool breeze touched her face and provided her a little bit solace.She was definitely feeling better after coming here. She cursed herself for not talking to Armaan.She should have atleast given him a chance to explain himself.But she was so deeply hurt and angry that she didn't know what exactly she was doing when she heard Armaan's voice. It seemed as if a thirsty earth got the first rain drops of the season when she heard his voice. And then all the heart ache that she had gone through the whole week came back to her and she lost her temper.But now she was regretting it.What if Armaan lacked his concentration during her risky work because of her being annoyed with him and got hurt. Her heart screamed No.This can't happen to Armaan.Nothing can happen to Armaan .She didn't know where to go and with whom to share the deepest secrets of her heart.If she had not been engaged to Rohan, she could have easily shared all her troubles and she was sure that Rohan must have sorted out all her worries as usual.but this time her best friend was one of the major reasons of her trouble.She felt helpless and crippled.All she could do was simply make a wish to the Almighty to bring Armaan infront of her in good health as soon as possible.
Rohan saw the different expressions on Riddhima's face and he understood that she was deeply engrossed in thinking about something.He let her enjoy her own space and remained a silent observer.He could just stand beside her and look at her smiling face lovingly all his life like this.He thanked God for sending Riddhima in his life.

RI: I was just thinking that just when I thought everything was perfect in my life all of sudden my whole life changed. I don't know what is in my destiny. As SRK says everything happens in life for good and for a reason, I don't find any good in this incident. I have gone through the worst heartaches of my life in the past 2 months.
RO: Riddhi why are you feeling so low? There must be definitely a reason for why you are here.And please don't start all over again with your SRK.I don't understand why you girls drool over this man and his good for nothing lines.He is a part of reel world not real one.
RI: Don't you dare say anything about SRK.
Riddhima huffed and Rohan grinned patting himself on his back mentally for distracting her a bit.
RO: Thank god you are smiling. I've been waiting eagerly to see this genuine smile on your face.
Riddhima immediately understood that Rohan had tried to distract her mind successfully. She passed a smile to him and all her worries came back to her again.
RO: No no you are not allowed to go back your sulking mood once again.I think for giving me such a sweet smile,I can get you an ice-cream.
Riddhima's face lit up as Rohan pointed out an ice-cream stall at the end of the bridge. They were not far from the end of the bridge so he asked her to wait for him while he gets the ice-cream.
Riddhima smiled as she looked Rohan going towards the stall and turned back towards the river facing the railing. Suddenly she felt someone at her back. Her sixth sense alarmed her and she immediately turned back finding herself infront of a stranger. Her eyes popped out of her sockets as she felt a pistol pointed out at her stomach.She looked down horrified as the man spoke:Walk with me silently else I won't take a minute to pierce the bullet inside your sexy belly.
She looked at the man in disgust and shock. She was totally stunned. She tried to speak but words didn't come out of her mouth because of fear.
The man tried to pull her towards him but he felt a hand come in between and hold his hand.
RO: Don't you dare touch my Riddhi
Rohan gave a death glare to the man.He was coming happily with two ice-cream cones but the scene infront of him made him totally mad.He threw away the ice-creams and rushed towards his beloved.
The man tried to use his gun but Rohan punched him making the gun fall at the road.Two more men rushed towards them and Rohan began fighting with all three of them.The other two men tried to use their guns but Rohan didn't give them a chance to hold the metal in their hands.
Riddhima was scared till death. She was afraid for Rohan. Those men were dangerous. Just then one of the men took the gun and pointed at Riddhima.He asked Rohan to stop fighting else he'll shoot her.Rohan stopped fighting being concerned for Riddhima's safety.The three men began to move towards the car.Just then a car zoomed off making all three of them puzzled.Rohan took the chance and hit at the man's shoulder which eventually led the gun to fall at the road once again.Armaan came out of the car at a jet speed and ran towards Riddhima. His eyes were fuming. If looks could kill,all the three men would have been burned alive by this time.He was about to reach Riddhima when his eagle eyes noted one of the men pointing the gun at Riddhima.
Riddhima was totally astonished to see Armaan infront of her.He was infront of her after 8 days.Did he have any idea what she felt all these days and the feelings of happiness and contentment on seeing him fit and fine after such a scary dream made her simply loose herself in him.She didn't care that two men were fighting to save her life.She didn't care that someone is right here to hurt her rather kidnap her.She didn't care if she may die right here right now.All she was aware was that the love of her eyes was infront of her.Only she knew how much she yearned to see him with her own eyes.A smile formed on her face.Armaan was so happy to see Riddhima but he more than being happy he was annoyed and frustrated for putting herself in such a danger.He noticed that she was lost somewhere with a dreamy smile on her face.She didn't have any idea that she was at the gun point of someone.He called her once but she didn't listen.
The man pulled the trigger as Rohan fought with the other two men .Rohan stopped fighting hearing the voice of the shoot and looked at Riddhima.Riddhima bolted out of her dreamland as she saw Armaan standing infront of her.
She screamed: Armaan
Armaan fell down and Riddhima moved forward to support him.She kept his head in her lap and sobbed..Blood oozed out from near his chest and Riddhima being a doctor knew that bullet might have pierced her heart.
RI: Armaan why? yeh kya kiya tumne'Kuch nahin hoga tumhe suna tumne.
Armaan smiled at her and said: You are my responsibility Riddhima.I can never let anyone hurt you.
As he said those lines,he closed his eyes with a smile on his face while Riddhima cried badly.He had a smile on his face because he thought that if he died today at least he will be dying in the arms of his lady love and he wished nothing more than that.
Rohan meanwhile rushed to her while the three men fled away sensing that situation had gone out of their control.
Tears flew down her cheeks as she rambled: Armaan why did you do this.I won't let anything happen to you.Do u listen? Nothing will happen to you.
She looked at Rohan who walked towards her and before she could utter a word he lifted up Armaan by Riddhima's help and made her lie in the backseat of the car.Riddhima kept Armaan's head on her lap and asked Rohan to drive fast to the hospital.Meanwhile Rohan called Atul and informed about the mishap.

At the hospital,Armaan was rushed in the OT.He was admitted in the same hospital where Dr. Juhi worked.The news of FBI officer Armaan Malik getting shot spread like fire everywhere.When Juhi heard about the news,she felt as if earth disappeared beneath her feet. She rushed towards the OT and found Riddhima and Rohan.Riddhima was crying bitterly while Rohan tried to console her.
She went towards them and Riddhima looked at her apologetically.
RI: I'm so sorry aunty.I'm the one who is responsible for bringing Armaan in this situation*sob*..You can give me any punishment you want. I'm soo sorry aunty.
She sobbed even more feeling guilty of being the reason of separating a son from his mother.
Juhi went closer to Riddhima and hugged her. She had tears in her own eyes but Riddhima's condition was even worse than her.
JU: Riddhima beta, stop blaming yourself. Armaan is a FBI officer.It's his duty to protect you. It's not at all your fault beta. Whatever happened was written in your and Armaan's destiny.Please stop blaming yourself.
RI: No aunty it's all my fault.If I had not disobeyed his orders and gone out,he would not have been in this condition.If something happens to him,I'll never ever forgive myself.
J: Riddhima beta nothing will happen to Armaan.Our prayers are there with him.My son is not soo weak.Please don't cry like this and get this thing in your mind that whatever happened had nothing to fo with you.We can't fight our fate.So just relax and pray for Armaan's good health.
Rohan kept a hand on Riddhima's shoulder and said: Riddhi you should be the one consoling aunty and not the other way round.Stop crying now.Nothing happened because of you.Please relax.If you are in this condition who will take care of Armaan's parents,jeeju and Anjali haan?
Riddhima nodded as Rohan wiped her tears.She looked at Juhi with a sorry face and held her hand saying: Aunty Armaan will be fine.He is a brave officer.
Juhi nodded her head and Riddhima made her sit on the bench.Riddhima tried to control herself but tears didn't stop.They slipped down from the corner of her eyes every now and then.Juhi went inside the OT to ask the doctors about Armaan's condition.
Being the owner and doctor of that hospital,she went inside.
When she came out of the OT,her face had turned pale.
Rohan: Aunty what did the doctors say?
No response.
Riddhima shivered with fear.
RI: Aunty you are scaring me now.plz say something.
But Juhi was silent.
Riddhima held her arms and pleaded her to open her mouth.
JU: The bullet has passed just a centimeter next to his heart.Armaan is in a critical condition.
Juhi said and as she looked up she saw her husband and her whole family along with Armaan's friends.She ran in Rahul Malik's arms and said: our son is in a critical condition Rahul.I'm so afraid.Say that nothing will happen to him.
Rahul was himself shocked and scared.He caressed the hairs of his wife trying to relax her and spoke: Juhi our son is not so weak that he'll get scared of a bullet.He won't give up.Armaan has always been a fighter,you know that.Right?Please stop crying and try to compose yourself.Please.
They both sat on the bench with Juhi's head on Rahul's shoulder.
Riddhima was rooted on the ground since Juhi spoke those words.Armaan's friends were first shocked to hear Juhi's statement. They rushed to Rohan and Riddhima.Anjali was not informed about the mishap because of her pregnancy.But Muski was there in the office only when the bad news came,so she was present there along with Rahul,Atul,Abhi and Nikki.
NI: How the hell did all this happen?Riddhima plz say something.
But Riddhima was silent.She began walking like a dead person and didn't respond to anyone's call.
Rohan stopped them from disturbing her.He told them all what happened and asked them to leave Riddhima alone for a while. She needed space. Everything that happened was just too much for her.
Atul was extremely worried now.Juhi's condition was not good and Riddhima looked dead.He wanted to go and console her but Rohan's insistence stopped him.
Riddhima walked like a corpse towards one way of the hospital. Suddenly she looked up and saw a small idol of Ganesh ji.
She wiped her tears and went there.She lit a diya in the name of Armaan and prayed: Bhagwan ji Armaan is in a very critical condition.He is fighting for his life. All this is my fault. Please don't punish him for my fault. He put his life at risk to save me.If anything happens to my Armaan I'll die.Bhagwanji please don't do anything to him. Please don't take him away from my life. I cannot live without him. Please save him bhagwanji ,please.
She pleaded to God for the safety of her beloved. She felt as if she could not even breathe properly. She didn't know when and how Armaan became the oxygen of her life. Only she knew in how many pieces her heart has broken by watching Armaan in the pool of blood. The stains of his blood were still on her fingers and saree.She prayed to God with the deepest devotion she had to make the operation successful.She felt as if she would die if something bad happens to Armaan.
On the other side, doctors came out of the OT.
All looked at the doctor with hopeful eyes.The doctor smiled and said looking at juhi.Dr. Juhi your son is a fighter.I've always heard about him but today I've seen how brave he is.At one moment we thought that we are losing him but then as if a miracle happened and he revived back.I must say your prayers have turned fruitful.But still we can't say anything.We have managed to take out the bullet.We'll keep him under observation for the next 48 hours.If he does not wakes up in the next 48 hours,I'm afraid that he might slip into coma.
The relief which had washed upon everyone's face once they heard that the operation was successfeul disappeared after hearing the last line of doctor's statement.
Rohan tried to look for Riddhima to hell her about Armaan's status.He roamed around the hospital with a worried face and sighed in relief as he found her at the temple of the hospital with joined hands,closer eyes and a tearful face. Riddhima was continuously reciting some mantra while praying for Armaan's safety in her heart.Rohan kept a hand on Riddhima's shoulder which made her eyes flicker open.She looked at him with worry but his smile relaxed her a bit.
RO: Your prayers are answered Riddhima.Armaan 's operation is successful.
Riddhima's face delighted.She immediately turned towards her bhagwanji and said a thank you.
Rohan relaxed as he saw Riddhima's happy face.He didn't want to break the bubble of her happiness but he had to do it.
Rohan became silent and a bit worried.He didn't know how to tell Riddhima that Armaan is not completely out of danger now.He himself was too much worried for Armaan.In such a short span of time ,he has grown fond of this man.He has noticed Armaan's bond with Riddhima and has always admired their friendship.He was contended with the fact that Armaan treated his Riddhi like a friend during the house arrest and his Riddhi got many friends in New York because of Armaan.He has noticed that Armaan's sight is enough to lit up Riddhima's face with joy.Today he felt as if Riddhima would break completely if something happened to Armaan.She has seemed to be in distress the whole week and now this incident must have been too much for her. His heart cried watching her in such a situation.He didn't have the heart to tell her about Armaan but she deserved to know the truth. He sighed and said:
RO: Who Riddhi Armaan 's operation is positive but ..
Riddhima's face fell as she heard. Her heart sank and she whispered: But what Rohan.Armaan is fine na?
Rohan told her everything. Riddhima sulked as she realized that Armaan was not completely fine.
RI: Rohan can I see Armaan?
RO: Doctors told that they are going to shift Armaan in the ICU and after that we can see him.
RI: ok let's to tie go.
She took some prasad from the temple and a red protection thread.
When they arrived at the ICU, everyone was already present. Rohan went inside but Riddhima's steps halted at the door. Armaan's body was attached with so many machines. She felt as if someone had stabbed her heart heart ruthlessly. She felt a very deep pain in that pulsating muscle of her chest. The nurse asked everyone to leave.Juhi and Rahul had tears in her eyes watching their son like this.By this time Shashank and Padma had also arrived.They consoled Juhi and Rahul and everyone went out silently.
Riddhima went inside the ICU when everyone left.The nurse asked her to leave but Riddhima said that she needs just ten minutes and then she'll leave.
She first tied the protection thread around Armaan's wrist and fed him the prasad a little.The nurse smiled and said:Don't worry he'll be fine.If you are here then I'll just go and come back in 10 minutes.
Riddhima nodded and the nurse went out.She caressed his face with all the love and concern in her eyes.She held her hand spoke while tears slipped down her eyes continuously.
RI: Armaan I know you are listening to me.Armaan please respond to me..Why did you do this Armaan?You risked your life for me.Didn't you think about uncle and aunty even once?Didn't you think about jeeju,di and your friends. I behaved with you so badly.I was not even listen to you and didn't respond to your apology phone calls.But still you didn't give a second thought for taking in the bullet that was meant for me.For God sake Armaan wake up.If u don't wake up right now,I'll never ever talk to you.Are you listening to me?First you didn't show up for a week and then all of a sudden you come to save me and get shot.Do you even know how I feel when you pull such stunts?Armaan please get up.For your parents' sake open your eyes Armaan.If anything happens to you,I won't be able to forgive myself ever.I cannot live without you Armaan.do you hear me I can't live without you.Please come back to me Armaan.My life has no meaning without you.Armaan please come back to me.Open your eyes Armaan.
She kept her chin at his and her hands entwined together and weeped.As Riddhima's tears touched the skin of Armaan's hands ,something stirred in Armaan's heart.His heart told the brain that Riddhima was crying.Armaan can bear anything but not his beloved's tears.He could hear some faint voice of Riddhima.She was asking him to come back to her again and again.Her voice held pain and agony.His heart ached as he realized that his Riddhima was in pain.
Riddhima looked up in surprise as Armaan's fingers stirred.
She smiled in between her tears and stood up to call the doctors when she saw Armaan opening his eyes whispering Riddhima..
