My POV: Considering she has been married before - she is an "experienced" lover. Nevertheless given her conservative lifestyle it is emotionally trying for her to get into physical intimacy with Shiv. Possibly she and Jagia never had any foreplay because they were childhood mates - whereas with adults first time intimacy involves foreplay and that is probably something she has never experienced! So she is nervous as she does not know how to approach and react to intimacy.

Anandi is nervous and scared of physical intimacy. If she disappoints in giving him the love he expects from her. She is scared of getting emotionally attached to shiv, for most woman once she consummates her marriage she is in every way given herself entirely. In the case anandi is scared of rejection from shiv.

I am sorry I am confused can you clarify your POV for me:

Re: Bold 1: If she is scared of getting emotionally attached to Shiv - then she should not have lied and led him and the audience to believe that she had feelings for him. She is being hypocritical and no woman should do that to a man - especially one who has helped her selflessly and been extremely kind to her.

RE: Italics 1: If she did not want to consummate her marriage and was not willing for physical intimacy - why was she not honest and tell Shiv that he would have to remain a brahmachari through out his life? Why did she not tell Shiv's parents and Daddu that she would be a goodhouse keeper but not Shiv's wife? This is not the first time she is getting married - she is experienced and knows it entails physical intimacy!

Re: Bold 2 Anandi is scared of rejection from shiv. Why so - has he not told her he loves her? Did she not take off the payals he gave her and made him put them again and toy with his feelings once? Did he not time and again convince her of his love? They are best friends why cannot she tell him what is troubling her? The truth is she is rejecting Shiv - she is toying with his feelings and insulting him - she is so self-centered that she cannot put herself in Shiv's shoes - it is all about her and her feelings alone. Shiv, his emotions and his self-respect do not matter to her!

I said her lifestyle is conservative - I did not say she is conservative in thought.

By lifestyle I mean her dress, her tastes, her outward behavior eg standing in attendance to menfolk in her home, eating after them. etc.

I disagree - a person needs to control his thoughts and master them. If he were to enact every whim and fancy - he may soon find himself an addict to bad habits and his actions may even get him to be jailed.
