After shaking her ample derriere with the Govindas in OMG, the actress will make her second special appearance for Sajid Khan's Himmatwala in an introductory song.
TOI has learnt that the song, Thank God It's Friday, has been inspired by the discos of the 80s, with reflective dance floors, mirrors and all things shiny. It will also feature 100 dancers and 400 extras. According to sources, the look and feel may just remind you of the Jawani Jaaneman song from Namak Halal, in which Parveen Babi dazzled in gold.
A source close to the development told TOI, "Sajid has conceived of this lavish introductory song for which he wanted Sonakshi. She has a certain rustic image that she has been trying to break out of. Though she is proud of the roles she has done so far, this song seems like the perfect platform for her to attempt a makeover. Her costumes will be designed by Manish Malhotra."
Though Sajid-Wajid have scored the music for Himmatwala, this particular song has been composed by Sachin-Jigar and sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. Chinni Prakash has been roped in to choreograph the song.
The 80s'-style song will also be Sajid Khan's little nod to his roots - he started off as a teen DJ at a club in Mumbai and is well versed with the vibes of that era. "The set is being construed in a city studio and will be called Funky Town," added the source.
When contacted, Sajid Khan replied: "It's too early to talk about the song, but yes Sonakshi has been roped in."
