Dheeraj Kumar wins the case

The controversy surrounding the much-hyped Ghar Ki Laxmi-Betiyann on Zee TV finally came to an end. The case filed by Rekha Modi was dismissed by the court on the first day of its hearing. Ashish Kaul, senior vice president of Zee Telefilms Ltd said, "We always knew that Ghar Ki Laxmi-Betiyaan belonged to Dheeraj Kumar and Zee TV. We have a policy wherein anybody who wants to do a programme with us must prove that he is the legal custodian of the title and the concept. Dheeraj Kumar had shared the idea with us a long time ago and we had been working on the concept for the past six to seven months. Even, the court has dismissed the case, which only proves that we are the legal custodian of the concept and the title."

The hullabaloo over Betiyann started two months ago when writer Rekha Modi raised a furore accusing Dheeraj Kumar and Zee TV of stealing her idea. She filed a case against Zee TV and Dheeraj Kumar demanding to stop the telecast of the serial.
