PotterCast & MuggleCast

Okay, so--all of here are obsessed with Harry Potter. So how weird is it that I'm basically the only one on this forum who listens to PotterCast/MuggleCast? Yeah. So I thought I'd take PotterCast's challenge to make people more aware of this show (as if 30,000 + listeners weren't good enough 😛) as an opportunity to make all of you people here whom I love and adore aware of PotterCast and MuggleCast so that you can listen to it and join in on the fun that I'm experiencing. Let's face it--if it weren't for the things like PotterCast, MuggleCast and The Leaky Mug, I wouldn't have joined the MuggleCast FanChat OR gone to Lumos 2006 and had the best summer of my life. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be registered for Prophecy 2007 a year before the actual event and be spazzing out completely over it. Again, if not for them, I wouldn't be on staff for MCFCC and be exposed to the experience of actually podcasting. But most importantly--if it weren't for them, the Harry Potter spirit in me would be much quieter; these two podcasts are responsible for keeping it awake with news and discussions each week. This thing is, like, crazy though--I mean, what's supposed to be so addicting about a bunch of Harry Potter dorkheads who sit around talking about Harry Potter? I really don't know. I just know that I'm addicted to it... as you all know.

You know the funnest part of these two podcasts? The inside jokes. It's not supposed to be funny when you tell your uncle to buy a Subway sandwich with ham, turkey, lettuce and nothing else--but instead, he buys you a Subway sandwich with ham, turkey, lettuce and PICKLES (that was my lunch yesterday). It's not supposed to be funny--but it is! It's not supposed to be funny, either, when your friend burns her chocolate cake and all you say is, "You pulled a Noe!". But it is! Nor is it supposed to be funny when you tell all your friends Jamie's British Jokes, only to have them stare at you in a look that plainly says, "Um, okay". But what's really not funny is when your mom cuts her finger (while cooking your dinner, btw) and is bleeding, and all you do is yell, "Oh look, there comes Mr Blood!" (I made my dinner that night).

The best thing about these podcasts, though, is all the friends I've made. If I didn't listen to them, I would have never met Proma, Chaya, Hannah, Chloe, Jeff, Edward, Kathleen and everyone else. While PotterCast and MuggleCast can seem like just a show--it's much more than that. Indirectly, it's done a lot of other things for me--it's made me want to eat a phaal (long story), it's made me even more inspired to be a journalist (through Melissa Anelli, who's like the pwniest person ever), it's made me find seven-hour-old, disgusting burritos something of a novelty, it's helped me in school--heck yes it has--many of the in-depth discussions make me relate Harry Potter to what book I'm currently doing in Literature, it has exposed me to so many more things. Frankly, I can't imagine my life pre-PotterCast/MuggleCast--so many things over the course of this year has happened to me thanks do them (directly and indirectly), that sometimes I wonder where I would be without them (oh yeah, I would probably be richer, because I wouldn't have bought their t-shirts :P--but $40 is a small price to pay for the year's worth of entertainment and the random squeeing about things nobody will get).

So, all I can tell you is--go listen. Go listen to these podcasts. I know how much fun I've had, and I know you guys will have just as much fun. Start from episode 1 or start from episode 56, just listen to these podcasts.

OR, you can subscribe through iTunes by subscribing to the feeds PotterCast and MuggleCast (and The Leaky Mug, which is their joint podcast).

And you don't need an iPod to listen--you can listen on any mp3 player or simply on your computer.

If you guys have anymore questions on how to download, or just want me to explain they're awesomeness in more detail, PM me, leave me a comment on my myspace (link in my profile) or email me (email address in my profile). And if anyone else of you listen to the show, PM me/IM me/email me/leave me a comment on myspace and let's talk about them. If you have AIM and would like to add me to talk about it, my screename is mugglemanic.

Aaaand I'm making this topic a Sticky topic.

All I can say to PotterCast and MuggleCast is: Thank you. I love you. You have made this one of the best years of my life, and I know it's going to be another best year. Just... thank you for everything. I hope to see you guys live again (once is definitely not enough), and while I can't come to California, I certainly hope you'll do one at Prophecy or somewhere else where I can go, because I'd love to meet you all and talk to you all more.

i absolutely love mugglecast.
i think pottercast is more mature in a good way than mugglecast. MuggleCast and Mugglenet are more of a fan site while PotterCast and TLC comes off as fan sites but with a newst-type fashion. perhaps because of the fact that more adults go to TLC..
yea, my random post..
other than that. MuggleCast!!!
