'mahi bhaiya'

"mahii bhaiya" as anandi called mahi...

kyon umar se chote bhai ko"bhaiya" nahi kehte kya?...aur "devar" bhai saman hi to hota hai? agar mahi bada hua anandi se to bhi aur chota hua to bhi "dono" surat me"bhaiya" keh ke bulaya ja sakta hai... agar khud ke cousin ho ya bhai umar me chote ho to "naam" leke bulaya ja sakta hai... lekin sasural me devar ko achanaq se naam leke to bulaya nahi ja sakta na chahe woh chota ho ya bada?

Bhaiya dosent only mean an older brother...Its a general respectful and loving term for anyone...not necesserily an older bother.
Infact many places devar is also called as a bhaiya so its ok if anandi calls him mahi bhaiya regardless of him being younger or older.

It was a sweet way if teasing mahi. Shiv knows how to shut his brother's mouth.

In some communities , devar , sis in law (nanad) are always addressed as bhaiyya /didi irrespective of whether they are younger or older. For my friend who got married, (she is an Agarwal) ... it is always so.
