Im a girl who is born and brought up in New Zealand, with indian morals and culture... Sure, my family isn't restrictive, but I have my boundaries...
I am sitting here, miles away from India... I came to india 7 years ago... I never witnessed anything... But today, it is 2am here, I can't sleep... I am terrified! Im upset! I feel for the young 23 year old girl in hospital... Its so upsetting! I have always been proud to be Indian, but today I feel scared to tell people, afraid of what they will think about my culture and country...
Her life is in danger, she is going in and out of coma... each time she wakes up, she cries...
I read a post, it explained exactly what happened to her, I couldn't control my tears... Reading the post scares me! Her emotional state would be un-imaginable! Our support may be a way she can recover emotionally... A few politicians are passing comments like "Harsher laws are SILLY"! Is a girls safety silly?? I don't think so!! She was the victim, tomorrow it could be anyone else... How are we to know? We need to stop this! Girls can't suffer! Being out of the house after 9pm has become dangerous for girls! I live miles away and can't come to India... But all you people in India, you can! There is a SAVE WOMEN march in Dehli on the 22nd December at 9am starting at India Gate... I request anyone that can, to please go! Support her, support women, support India!
I can't say much living this far apart from India, but I am Indian and am brought up almost the same way as many girls living in India... Please Please Please support her!
