Saturday gone. It's Sunday.
Yes, its midnight here. I woke up at 4pm. Had to catch a bus home so, my sleep schedule andcircadian rhythm is thrown off. I am working on it.Note to self: Never reveal deadlines on forum
Okay, I can wait another few hours. It's Sunday noon here. :)
The bit about not revealing deadlines on the forum, I've learnt it just like you did. So now worries there. =)
Hello peeps,
I am writing this up on a bus journey home. The person sitting next to me has their eyes fixated on my screen. I can see your reflection on the screen, you know. Stubborn and strange. Whatever. I am not going to even bother defending the blunder committed by the CVs. I will just get started on my story.
Recap: RK and Madhu pay a quick visit to Radha.
For the first time in her life, Madhu had all the time in the world and no work to keep her occupied. She slipped into a mode of agitation where the slightest movement, the quietest of whispers felt like a test of her patience. Caught in the midst of it all, was her husband RK.
"I need to get you some work my Russian biwi".
"You think I vehli? Being with you is work".
"Should I take you out?"
"Ask proper".
"Properly. I will get you a language tutor".
"No make fun. I talk serious. I want go out".
As they head out the door, Madhu was back to her cheerful self. She signed OK with the famous kissing birds and RK was at peace seeing her smile. RK stopped the car at a red signal.
"Drive, now", Madhu insisted in a stern manner.
"I know I am a bad boy but, we need to follow the rules b'", he stopped midway seeing Madhu's face turn pale. She looked like she had seen a ghost. She was sweating profusely, her breathing became heavy every passing second. She began gasping for air.
Madhu felt as though she was drowning in a desert. She wanted her misery to be over; she proceeded to strangle herself to end the sharp pain. RK struggled to get a grip on her. He ran the red light and several others in a rush to get to the hospital. Madhu was stronger than ever, as if possessed by another force. She flung away RK's arm, and unlocked her seat belt. She was about the jump out of the vehicle when she fell on her side, unconscious.
RK, in a state of hysteria, carried his wife to the emergency. After running a series of tests, the doctors declared no signs of physical disease. "Mr. Kundra, her body is drained of energy. This is a psychological issue with great repercussions. Something around her has triggered her episode; past memories have surfaced. I suggest you consult a psychiatrist or therapist. You need to seek help if you wish to keep her alive and well. She could very well have died from this".
The fear of losing his wife clouded RK's judgement. He searched the halls to find his Madhu, "Lets get you home. They don't know what they are talking about. You are just scared. There is nothing wrong. You are fine". He carried his wife in his arms as she stared into his pitch black eyes.
The incidents of the day had taken a toll on Madhu. She was unusually cold. He tucked her under a thick layer of sheets and shielded her like a cocoon. She felt numb yet, the heat radiating from RK's body reached her senses. She felt asleep feeling safe and sound in his embrace.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
RK woke up to a pillow in his arms where his wife lay last night.
"Oh Madhu", said RK backing away from the pillow he was about to kiss. "Wifey, Madhu, Biwi. Where are you?", he heard the sound of a dripping faucet as he went in the washroom to inspect.
He saw Madhubala struggling to reach her toothbrush on the far end of the vanity. He ran up behind her and supported her body weight.
"We need help", he finally accepted Madhu's diagnosis.
Madhu nodded in agreement. She turned around to face him. "I sorry. I put you through this. I burden. You deserve better. I sorry. I no know how thank you. I", she broke down and fell into his arms. Madhu had never shown such shimmering vulnerability since their first meeting.
"I will bring down the best physicians to our home. I will make sure I can get my Madhu back, the one who makes the kissing birds sign at me. The one I cherish", he wiped away her tears and kissed her forehead.
As Rishabh put Madhubala to bed, he wondered what had caused Madhubala to turn back to her broken self. He needed to find out the dangers that surrounded her. He needed to guard her. He needed to get her smile back.
Rest coming soon.
