I felt a little irritated yesterday with the chief minister.
I know what he was trying to convey, but still felt it sort of lacked class and polish.
After the mass wedding he thanked all the boys for marrying the divorcee girls and giving them a second chance in life.
I fully understand the sentiment, and understand what he was trying to say, but it bothered me that he was behaving as if the boys had done the girls some kind of great favour -- more as if it was a charity act they had done -- as opposed to both parties equally building a relationship and taking the first steps into a new relationship.
I understand the sentiment, as I said earlier, but really, could the CM have reworded it in a different way or perhaps been a little less tacky???

Agree with you but not completely. In this case it seemed an arranged marriage as well, which showed up in the groom mix up. So in case of an arranged marriage, men agreeing to marry widows or divorcees is itself rare. That is a sad state but true and still it will be considered great, if such a thing happens. He was just voicing the masses. It will be highly unrealistic to expect a different thing.

I agree CM could have said it in a better way and a more politically correct way.

A better way of saying would be like this - how proud and happy he is to see his daughters who are willing to take a second chance after all the suffering they went through and show appreciation and gratitude to the men who are ready to take on such a challenge and give these a girls a chance.

Dialogue writers!! Usually they write amazing dialogues but I feel they've been off their game in the last few days. In terms of lapses.
