Maan looks at the room hiding himself behind a door as he looked at the most memorable sight in front of him with tears. Geet and their daughter. She was finally awake. Maan couldn't be more happier but at the same time he couldn't get enough courage to face her either.
He hides behind the door when he saw Geet looking toward the expecting someone. His heart started to beat fast. Is she expecting me? No. No. She can never expect me. She hates me.
Geet was so happy holding her baby in her arms. It has been two weeks since she started doing this kangroo hold and already Anamika was showing improvement Soon she will no longer need the incubator. She gently touched her face as her baby slept peacefully in her arms. Tears rolled down her cheeks, unknown to her, as she carefully looked at her daughter. She was everything she had hoped for but still something was missing.
She looked toward the doors hoping to see one person she had unknowingly longed for. Maan. She knows he comes to see her every night to tuck her only when her back is toward the door. At first, whenever she would sleep facing the door she noticed Maan would not come. She would lay awake all night just to hear his footsteps. Just to feel his touch on her blanket, although he never touched her. The next night, after she woke up from coma, Maan failed to show up. She had faced the door all night just to see him. Just to see glimpse of his face but he never showed up. She had turned around looking out the window thinking about him. Time was ticking away slowly but her thoughts remained on Maan. It was 1am and still she could not sleep.
Suddenly, as she was about to sleep, she heard footsteps. Quickly, Geet closed her eyes not wanting to get caught waking up; in case if it is a nurse. She tried so hard not to make any noise when she felt his presence. His cologne. She heard him take a seat on the spare chair. Geet waited for him to say anything to her, even though he thinks she is asleep. But nothing. He just sat there while Geet tried not to move. Not even her head. After half hour, he left tucking her in.
"Was he waiting for me to turn around? Does he not want to see my face?" Tears rolled down her eyes as she slowly closed her eyes.
She had gotten used to him coming to tuck her in. She liked that he cared. He was never like this before. This Maan was more gentle and caring. He took care of her and Anamika.
Her thoughts were disturbed when she heard nurse's voice. Checking up on them.
"Hows everything going?"
"Its good nurse. Can I sleep with Anamika today?"
"Am sorry, that won't be allowed. Not without doctor's orders."
"ohh. I understand"
"But that day wont' be long. Anamika has shown great improvement Am sure soon you both will be allowed to go home. Just few more days"
"hmm okay."
"But the other good news is that you can leave soon by next week probably."
"But how can I when?"
"don't worry your daughter is in good health and is well taken care of with 24/7 staff that your husband hired. Nothing will happen believe me I have never seen a husband act so protective and caring for his kid and wife before. Trust me."
"Okay." (Geet nodes her head)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A week and had passed and Geet was all ready to go home but she wasn't going alone, Anamika was going as well. The doctor had advised since Anamika was supposed to be born something this week, she can be sent home now. Anamika can breath on her own and no longer needs incubator to survive; although, she still needs to continue on kangaroo hold method for little while longer.
Geet came out of the room fully dressed in the wheel chair. She was so happy to see Dadima and Mohindar who had come to take her home. She saw Anamika's carriage right next to Dadima.
"She is sleeping. Are you ready beta?" (Dadima asked)
"Where is Vicky?"
"He is still at school. We didn't tell him you are coming home today. He will be really surprised."
"Ohh"
Geet wanted to ask about Maan but stopped herself. She still wasn't sure what is the relationship like with her dad and Dadima. Do they talk even? She was eager to home now. Her heartbeat started to beat faster with the mere thought of being back in the same room with him. What will he say? What will she say? Or even her reaction?
As soon as the car entered the driveway, she saw the whole mansion decorated with pink and red roses. She saw servants standing near the door holding a plate with rose petals, awaiting for them.
Dadima got out of the car holding Anamika while Mohindar carefully helped Geet. All the servants started throwing petals on the floor as soon as she stepped out creating a red carpet of flowers. She was so amazed by this. Dadima gave Anamika to Geet while she went inside. After few minutes, she came out holding an arti plate.
"come beta."
Geet smiles as she walks on top of the flower trail toward Dadima. She puts tilak on her forehead welcoming her in. Her house. Everything was still the same as she remembered the only difference is the air. The air around her felt so light. There was no anger or hatred anymore. Even the inside was fully decorated with pink and red flowers.
"Wow Dadima these are amazing. Who did this?"
"Probably Maan" (Geet face fell hearing his name. Dadima pats her cheek with a smile) "Don't worry he won't bother you. He lives in the outhouse now. He will only come to check on Anamika and we can't stop him from doing so either. Anyway, forget all this. Why don't you go and rest upstairs."
"Okay Dadima."
Quietly, she went upstairs toward their no her room with Anamika. She was shocked to see the room. It was so different. One side of the corner was decorated in pink color for the baby. Her basket, her changing table with all the necessities, diapers, bottles, baby formula, etc everything was there.
Right next to the bed was another basket where she could sleep close to her if needed. Geet slowly puts her in the basket near the bed and watched her sleep with tears. She lies down on the bed looking at her daughter while still thinking about Maan.
