Chapter 1

"WELL...!" sam shouted...

"What well? u aren't supposed to make older children friends!" rey yelled..

"Rey... she's just 14..." sam said as calmly as she could...

"Sam m not tolerating dis... she's 2 years older... you're just 12!" rey scolded...

"Rey..." sam said but rey cutted her..

"nd y dont u call me 'bhaiya? m much older!" he said

"oh c'monn...! lets not go off d topic we've talked about dis before...! let her in PLEASE!!!!" sam pleaded..

"No is a NO!" rey yelled!

"ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! she's waiting outside n m calling her in!" sam said..

"how can i forget dat im talking 2 Sharon Shekhawat's daughter? she has d same accent n fighting skills lyk her mom!" rey thought n smiled silently

"Sandy get in!" sam called her in..

"u need 2 behave samie.. making friends with older children isn't done with me!" rey said

"oh please rey bhaiyaa...she's a nice girl meet her once pleasssee!!!!"
sam said lovingly!

"but still she's as cute as her father Swayam" rey thought

"Fine.. but not again ok? m inside call me if u need!" rey said n left..

sam: hi sandy..!

sandy: hi sameera...!

sam: call me sam please..

sandy: call me sandy please..
n dey giggled..

sam: u sit i'll get u something 2 eat...

sandy: no, no its fine.. just tell me why did you call me so urgently...??

sam: oh.. sit know!

sandy: u live here? (while sitting)

sam: yeah we rented a house my maternal uncle n me..

sandy: umm... n your parents?

sam: ______________________ she said something...

sam brought some chips n cola... she sat with sandy...

sam: btwsince wen r u here??

sandy: since 14 years..

sam: u know any blue houses nearby hubbard's point beach ?

sandy luked puzzled... "well...hubbards point has 20 houses..."

sam: and?

sandy: it's a bunglow actually... huge bunglow it belongs 2 someone rich i guess!

No, mom told dat ms ghai was middle-class not at all rich...

sam: umm... any oder blue house?

sandy's eyes widened: oh...u mean d witch's house??

sam: huh?

sandy: actually its white now but it used to b blue wen i was 9 i remember beacause my sister anie had a song about it...

NO, mom's best frnd cant be a witch! sam thought...!

but sam had no other choice she ruled out almost every house she found on Hubbard's point beach , she had ridden her bike up and down d roads in warm summer. And she'd gone back with only 5 blue houses she'd found nd asked people whether dey knew her mother... Sharon Raiprakash, 5 times d answer was NO!

sam: why do u call her witch??

sandy: beacause no-one ever sees her, she lives in New York whole winter n wen she's here she stays in her yard till dark! she talks 2 owls, she writes children's books on Birds n species, People dont know how wierd she is come frm outside 2 look for her- but she dosen't even answer d door! And every morning before d sun rises she luks for her lost diamond ring on beach!"

sam: diamond riing?

sandy: som engagement ring i suppose, she has no children although she writes childrens books! she wears lots of rings 2-3 i guess... but she lost d biggest one... it was worth thousands... n she wants 2 find it...she puts spells i heard...!

sam frowned, hugging her knees she didn't like d sound of dis woman! but den she thought about her mom... how she told her their stories, how badly she wanted 2 meet her best friend!, she thought about her her soft blue eyesue eyes with gentle sunlines around d outside corners, and how she used 2 talk abt her best friend!she had hole in her stomach suddenly! n she decided to to MEET her!

could her mother's best friend be a book writing witch? Nothing seemed impossible anymore. In fact, compared to d other things dat had happened during Sam's lifetime, that didn't even sound so weird she thanked sandhya for d information she left , nd den she set off to find d way up d hill to d house dat used to b blue...
