Chapter 10
A week have passed by and Geet was still no where close to facing Maan in college. She decided to play sick at home hoping that some major storm will come and wipe her away OR make her disappear Since there are slim chances of her getting invisible woman power she prayed for her Babaji to create a major storm but as usual he ignores her prayers in time of need.
Geet sighs as she sits at the corner of the bed looking through her diary filled with Maan's photos that she took secretly. She smiles at one of the photo where he was eating ice cream with that chudail Sameera. It was a sunny day and as usual she was looking at the one and only favorite person she loved..Maan. Her blood boiled as he ate and laughed with Sameera while holding her hand. She knew they were going out for the pat couple of years but still it had pained her to see them so close especially Sameera. She left no stone un-turned coming closer and closer to Maan. She would intentionally, placed her newly polished fingers on his arm as she gently dragged her fingers down toward his hand. Maan was unaware of all the shenanigans she was doing after all he is so lovable and caring.
Anyway, so yeah, they were there eating ice creams when little bit of ice cream got on Maan's nose, unaware of it himself. He looked so cute as he happily ate. Geet couldn't resist being a stalker again so took a quick snap of him before anyone notices. No one told him about the ice cream on his nose, not even Sammera. She just quietly laughed at Maan, her Maan, while he ate. Eventually, everyone in the group caught on and started pointing at him.
Her blood boiled at the very thought of someone making fun of her Maan like that but at the same time there was nothing that she could do. She didn't have enough courage to rip Sameera's hair off and talk to Maan.
Geet closed her diary with anger. Ugh I hate myself. I can't do anything right in my life. Why did you make me such a coward Babaji? Why? (She puts a pillow on top of her as she laid on the bed thinking about what to do.)
When I do get enough courage, I make a fool of myself in one way or another. ugh I hate myself. I hate being fat. I hate it! Maybe my father is right. Maybe I do need to go on a diet.
She heard the door open, she knew who it was without looking. Her one and only dushman, Meera! She plums on the bed at the corner waiting for Geet to look at her.
"Go away" (Geet said without looking at her. She waited for Meera to say something, she was confused as to why Meera for once was not mad, yelling or screaming at her. Slowly, she raised her head to look at her. Meera sat on the bed with confusion and sadness. Geet immediately sat up looking at her with worry.)
"Meera what happened? Is everything okay?"
Meera: umm yeah so you are going to take another week off?
Geet: Actually, I was thinking maybe to go back and just face whatever I did. I have to eventually, right?
Meera (ignores her taking out a notebook from her bag) Here these are all the assignments you have to complete before you go back to college. Maybe take another week off. (Geet looks at her suspiciously)
Geet: since when did you start telling me to stay home? I thought you will be convincing me to go back and face my fears.
Meera: Maybe it is best that you stay home. (She nervously smiles) What I mean to say is, stay until you feel comfortable enough to go back. Also, I got you your project grade back. You and Maan both topped the project. Maan gave you full credit for helping out with the project.
Geet (smiles and screams) see I told you he is so nice even after with everything that I did. He still gave me credit.
Meera (forced herself to smile) Yeah, I guess.
Geet: You know what (She sits on her knees) I am ready to go back to college. I am sure he will not judge me and I will apologize to him this time without messing up.
Meera (looks at her shocked) but Geet..you
Geet: For once I am feeling confident enough...don't ruin the moment. (Geet goes toward her closet looking through which suits to wear. She holds one of the dress up against her body. It was a beautiful yellow color mixed with some dark blue suit. She looks at Meera for her opinion) What do you think? You like the colors? Or do you think I should wear white? hmm (she looks at all of her clothes which didn't interest her at all. Eventually, one by one, she throws all of her clothes on the bed looking at all the possible combinations.)
Meera: Geet are you sure you want to go back? I mean if you are not sure than
Geet (sits next to Meera) Yeah, I am sure. After what you told me, I feel so confident. You were right I had nothing to be scared of. So what I love Maan? If he doesn't love me than am okay with it. I will be just happy seeing him from far away everyday.
Meera: But
Geet (looks at her more closely) Meera are you hiding something from me? This is the first time you are refusing me to do something especially when that something is related to Maan. What is going on?
Meera (looks away) nothing. I just don't want to see you hurt that's all.
Geet (smiles) I won't get hurt. Even if I did am sure it is something that I cannot come out of. (She laughs and hugs Meera) Thanks for always being there for me. If it wasn't for you than I don't know what or where I would be right now. You helped me boost my self confidence. Thanks! (Two seconds later she yells in pain as Meera smacked her on her head) What was that for? (She stares at Meera with anger)
Meera; I told you so many times, no sorry or thank you (Geet roles her eyes)
Geet: Yeah yeah anyway help me pick out an outfit for tomorrow.
Both spent all day together trying and retrying same clothes again and again. After a long day, Geet was so tired that she could barley walk or eat. She closes her eyes thinking about tomorrow, when after a long time she will face Maan. She could feel butterflies in her stomach just thinking about him. She turns on her side looking out the window at the full moon with a smile. Tomorrow will be a new day, right Babaji? I hope everything goes fine.
You have no idea how much I love him, even if it is one sided. I just can't help it. No matter how he is I will continue to love him. Do you think he will love me as well? She frowns. Why would he love me? Anyway, maybe that topic is reserved for later for now am gonna enjoy the fact I will see him tomorrow! Babaji hope everything goes well and I don't make a fool of myself! (She looks at the sky again before dosing off)

Meera was already downstairs by the time Geet came down ready for college. She quickly ate before bidding bye to her parents. Geet looks at Meera with a big smile.
"You know I am so nervous. I kept tossing and turning the whole night just thinking when will today come." (Meera just looks at her)
Meera: Geet you know how once I had told you not to pay attention to anyone that makes fun of you? Not to give up and keep moving forward?
"Yeah."
Meera: Well, you had promised me that no matter what you will do exactly what I said? (Geet nodes her head) Just umm remember that promise okay? Don't think about anyone or anything.
"What is going on Meera? I have noticed that you are acting different. What happened?" (Both reach college...Geet looks at it with a smile. Meera was about to say when she saw how happy Geet was.) "We are here! Finally, I missed this so much and especially Maan." (she holds Meera's hand as she walks in) come lets go
Meera (nudges on Geet's hand) remember the promise you made to me Geet no matter what! (Geet roles her eyes not knowing what awaited for her at the college)

Everyone stared at Geet as she entered the college. Geet looks at everyone confused and than looks at Meera for answers. She saw Sameera and her gang come forward with a smirk.
"She is finally here guys. Welcome Ms. Geet. How was your vacation?"
Meera: Geet lets go. Don't pay any attention to her at all
Sameera (stands in front of Meera blocking her way) She can't go anywhere until we show her what we planned. After all she is the main guest. Right guys? (Everyone yells yes)
Geet: What is going on?
Sasha: Don't be impatient Geet.
Tasha: Yeah. You will know soon enough (she winks at Geet. Meera again tries to take Geet away but only to be blocked by the group)
Meera: Sameera move or else!
Sameera (closes in on her) or else what? You know what (she moves away) go. (Meera holds Geet's hand but Sameera snatches the hand away) except for Geet. We have some business with her.
Geet (looks at Meera with nervousness and fear. Meera stood by her side trying her best to support her) What business?
Sameera: Come..its a surprise. Girls (Sasha and Tasha put blindfold around Geet's eyes. Sameera held on to Meera while they did that)
Meera; let her go. Its not fair!
Sameera: Of course it is. (she laughs) guys come on help us bring Geet to the auditorium.
Geet was feeling scared. She was claustrophobic every breath and step made her heart beat fast with fear. She could tell she was being led up the stairs of the stage. Why? Her mind filled with confusion. Slowly, the blindfold lifted from her eyes. Geet blinked several times to adjust to the bright light that was focused on her only. She saw the stadium filled with students looking at her with a smile. Geet felt so embarrassed and humiliated. Her eyes filled with tears looking down.
Sameera (wipes Geet's tears away) save the tears for later, honey. Now, (she focuses her attention to the audience) Ladies and gentleman since our main guest has finally decided to make her appearances. Let the show begin. Lights (immediately the lights of the stage goes off. Everything was in darkness. Sameera comes and turns Geet around where a projector screen was pulled down.) Okay ready for the show guys? Are you ready Geet? (she looks at Geet who was just in tears) Turn the projector on.
Geet was horrified at what she saw. She felt like everything had been snatched from her. She fell on the floor in tears as she heard everyone laugh at her misery. She covers her ears to block out the noise and humiliation. Sameera holds Geet's face and makes her look at the screen. It was a video of her at Maan's house. A video of her throwing up in front of Maan. A video that showed her conversation with Dadima, her clumsiness, everything was shown in front of everyone humiliating her. A song played in the background as the video was shown to everyone.

Sameera throws the same flyer that she and her group had made of her and a donkey except this time Maan's face was on the donkey.
"So what do you all think?" (Geet heard everyone laughing) "This is the girl that tried to make a move on MY boyfriend. She likes my boyfriend." (she laughs out loud) "I mean (she makes Geet stand up. Geet just stood there like a dead body) have you all looked at her? Her weight? I knew she had some feelings for Maan the way she behaved in front of him at the mall. The lady wouldn't stop starting at him. I mean who would blame her right? (Everyone laughs) Maan is so hot and dashing. Anyway, when Maan informed me that Geet is going over to his house to work on the "project" I planted cameras to show everyone how sneaky and conniving she really is. This would not be possible without Maan. So everyone please clap for him as well.
(She makes Geet look at her) This is what you get for messing with me and my boyfriend. You should know that he is not yours nor ever will be. Understand!
Guys lets give her goodbye surprise. (Everyone got up and started singing the song again while Geet walked with tears and head bowed down. She just walked listening to everyone's singing. Meera came running behind her with tears)
"Geet listen to me. Geet"
She just ignored everything and kept walking. As she exited the auditorium, she bumped into someone. She looks up and saw Maan looking at her tearful face. She hated herself for all of this. She quickly walks away with tears. While Maan looks at her confused. He goes in the auditorium where Meera stood looking at him with anger. She slaps him on his face before running away after Geet.

Time to move the story forward as I had promised before.
