Today's ep I found - quite frankly - unbearable except for the scenes featuring RK. Because those scenes *didn't* feature Dipali, Radha or Madhu-eating-food-out-of-a-dustbin.
I understand that the last of the three *could* be considered pyaar-mey-deewaangi. But I don't see it even remotely that way.
When Madhu had told Bittuji that she was worried not about sargi but about getting jewelry from her husband, I was immensely pleased that the girl was clear, focussed and resolved on what she had decided on.
But yesterday her harping on to Dips about 'Maa naaraaz', 'Maa this', 'Maa that' knocked me for a loop. I had thought that the scene would be her standing up to Dips, not almost as much standing up for 'maa'.
And today, Madhu was willing to eat sargi from a discarded packet out of the dustbin so that it would be from 'Maa'?
Is her focus on RK or divided between him and Radha?
He considers Radha a mother unfit to be called such, and has told his wife that both Radha and Dipali have grieved him to an extent that he still bears the wounds.
Madhu has realized that she loves RK. So her reaction as a woman in love is to deliberately smother with respectful worship one or both of the two women who hurt him?
It would have been loyal to the husband she is keeping the karvachauth fast for if she were to consider his mother dead, and ask Bittuji to arrange for sargi in his capacity as her jeth - the only relationship her husband ever told her to observe.
Instead, every one of the four people RK does not want to have anything to do with, Madhu is giving an inch and then a mile so they may properly damage her - and by association - her husband's dignity.
Madhu's emotions are deep, pure and heartfelt. But she is so determined to follow the traditions and rituals to the letter that she is discounting the points on which doing so would *not* honour her husband but rather leave him open to feeling deprioritized by Madhu in favour of his mother.
People he has stated to be unfit for respect, he is having to speak to more and more frequently in defence of his wife because she *won't* speak up.
Everything was getting a bit too much, but one understands that Madhu needs time to stop being so softhearted and respectful, and become a better judge of character and more firm in dealing with the freeloaders 'relatives'.
But eating sargi out of the dustbin just so that she fulfills the technicality of having it be something prepared by her mother-in-law?
Does she truly not understand that having Radha involved in her first Karvachauth will taint it even worse for RK if he ever finds out?
That woman is his first reason for despising the festival, and he *told* Madhu this.
So, despite knowing that, Madhu discounts her husband's feelings simply so she has the satisfaction of having completed every technicality of a festival that is supposed to be focussed on her husband.
Do women living estranged from their mothers-in-law not observe karvachauth?
Radha's mere presence in RK's vicinity tends to rub salt in every wound she has caused. And yet he endures that.
But Madhu - who has so often shown the strength to follow rituals and traditions quite apart from the letter, and considers herself *no less married* for having had 4 feres instead of 7 and no sindoor - considered that the karvachauth would be complete only if the sargi were from her saas?
This was not determination or resolve. It was an appalling amount of self-denigration to play up the 'good bahu' angle.
Until today, those four leeches mistreated, denigrated and slighted Madhu.
But today, for no reason that could be adequate, Madhu denigrated herself to an appalling level, not for love but for a ritual.
With the (incorrect) evidence that her 'naaraaz maa' had discarded the sargi rather than leave any for her bahu's first karvachauth, Madhu lowered herself to get that discarded food out of the dustbin and eat it. Out of the frigging dustbin?
What? Are the CVs planning to have a post-karvachauth track of analyzing why Madhu fell ill, and the needle of supicion heading for Dipali with or without a detour onto Radha?
Is that what will get Dips thrown out of the house?
And if so, could all that not have been accomplished just as effectively without the food going into the dustbin and then back into a kitchen utensil for consuming?
What the heck, CVs? Food from a discarded packet out of a dustbin?
