And the thing about selfless love , tuney mujhe papa ki yaad diladi , when i was like 13 or 14 and he used to mock me for my fairy tale love dream guy and how i picturise love as..he used to say the same thing..that even he loves me due to a condition and if i break some expectations , then his love might lessen...he said its human nature...not my ideal fairytale land :P..before mein gussa hoti thi , and then i realized that he was right..you just reminded me of that.lol.oh and even for me shrishoo , for the first time , i found RishBaala's chemistry to be smoking hot...like those few seconds they were just staring at each other..man it had never been this hot ever before. Anyways yes I agree that sometimes it is not 'selfless' if you sacrifice something for the other person. It is selfless in the sense that you do something so that you can feel better about yourself.

Coming to your point, what RK did might have been because he saw the same love Mallik had for Madhu that maybe his dad had for him. Maybe RK thought it wasn't right to punish Mallik, maybe because RK thought that his dad might have done the same thing too.
