Thank you so much friends for your encouragement and support for this new FF. Thanks a lot Ash, Anu and Sree for your poems and songs. I will be using them in future updates as appropriate.
Few important things I want to clarify before I begin –
Name was suggested by Ash so a big thank you to her. I wanted a name which reflected turbulent past but hope of future and she suggested it. Also, I have not seen the Korean drama by the same name so it has nothing to do with it.
Sekhon, you questioned if this is going to be depressing. So just to clarify, their past especially Geet's is dark. But this story is about hope and how with right guidance and support, anyone can achieve what they really want to. Story is in present and past will be shared only as a backdrop or narration. So I am really hoping the story will come out positive and encouraging.
I have one special request to all my friends. Please share references, experiences and support channels which can actually help your fellow friends in tackling the issues depicted in this FF.
Lastly, I can only promise to update this FF once a week. I can try for two updates but it will be tough. One reason is shortage of time and another is that updates for this FF will be longer and more intense. Hence, I would need to spend more time writing, editing and updating.
Ritu –I will be looking forward to your poems dear
Wish all of you a very Happy and Prosperous Diwali. May goddess of light and wealth always shine upon your house to bestow health, wealth and happiness.
VERY IMPORTANT: Please add ritzypm as buddy to gets PMs for this FF
Chapter 1 – Simti Si Sharmayi Si
Khurana Mansion-Outhouse
A man in his late twenties woke up with the sound of alarm clock. It is not as if it was required. His sleep was light at it's best and usually hard to come by. He got up mechanically, starting his day with his exercise.
As he did his tai-chai moves, he was reminded of Dev's words yesterday asking him the reason for his fanaticism about his fitness regime.
"Aapki excersise ka kya fayda bro…you don't even as much as glance at the girls who throw themselves at you. You need lessons from me on how to use your body for maximum benefit."
Maan kicked and broke another plank as he remembered Dev's wink at the end of that statement.
He hardly looked at any girls or enjoyed the perks of his Greek like tanned and hard worked body. But Maan knew better as he cut the air with precision of his hand movement. Maan knew that Dev's thoughts could only go as far as getting under a women's skirt even after being married. He was always an air headed charmer. He could not fathom the peace and escape Maan received from the ruthlessness of this world as he spent his most cherished 60 minutes of the day truly on himself.
Maan walked inside the main house after his shower. As he fixed his watch, his eyes roamed at the dining hall where with monotony of everyday, sat his Daadima clad in off-white saree with a string of pearls adorning her neck. To her left sat his younger brother Dev and to his left, his choice of a life partner Naintara. Maan scoffed a bit seeing her as he took his position at Daadima's right hand, barely acknowledging their pleasantries with a curt nod.
Breakfast was a silent affair as far as Maan was concerned. As usual, NT and Dev bickered about some inane topic and filled the room with noise. As Maan walked away for his office and Dev/NT left for their yet another day of enjoyment, Daadima sighed. She knew that there was no point in talking about same issues again and again but she could still not stop her motherly heart. A slight layer of wetness touched her eyes as it cried over the lonely and pointless life of his eldest grandson.
"Maan when will you move forward forgetting this pain. Par hum kya kahein jab aapke is takleef ko kam kar ne ki bajaye use badhane ke gunehgaar shayad hum khud hi hain. Today because of me, you don't even live in the same house as us. Apne aap ko kaam mein kho diya hai aapne. Din kya aur raat kya aur woh log jo aapki is mehnat ko enjoy kar rahe hain, unhein aapke is self destructing love ki ahmiyat tak nahi pata."
(Maan when will you move forward forgetting this pain. But what can I say when I have not only been useless in lessening it but also somewhere have been instrumental in increasing it. Today because of me, you don't even live in the same house as us. You work day and night losing yourself and the only people who enjoy the fruits of your hard work don't even realize your self destructing love.)
But unknown to Daadima, destiny was going to play it's next card and the apple cart was once more going to be shaken bringing new order in their lives.

simti si sharmaayi si
kis duniya se tum aayi ho
kaise jahaan mein samayega
kitna husn jo laayi ho
It was raining lightly and Maan muttered profanities seeing everything wet and dirty. He tried to loose himself in his blackberry but jerked ahead as his car stopped suddenly. Before he could shout at the driver, he saw the reason and cursed the bus which was trying to leave it's stop from the wrong side. He glared at the side of the bus as it moved forward, when his eyes were suddenly mesmerized by a pair of another hazel doe shaped one which came to his view as bus inched forward.
heera nazar chaandi badan
resham haseen mukhda chaman
kangaal hain saare haseen
bas ik tum hi rakhti ho dhan
lutne ka dar hai
ghabraayi ho
simti si sharmaayi si
kis duniya se tum aayi ho
Everything faded including the loud horns of traffic as he saw a petite girl trying to hold onto her umbrella. She had too many things to balance along with it…a flying white duppatta which covered her face partially exposing her beautiful figure…a bag sliding from her shoulder as she held onto the umbrella…a file in her hand which she was trying to keep dry as if her life depended on it…her dancing jhumkaas as they kissed her cheeks…her hair though restrained in a tight plait trying to rebel as tendrils floated around her forehead…. and then finally those eyes which were stopping the whole earth from revolving. She felt conscious of her state and was trying to just hide herself from piercing gaze of this world, making her look so vulnerable.
jab tak tumhen dekha nahi
ye dil kabhi dhadka nahi
aaye gaye kitna sanam
maine magar pooja nahi
tum dil ki pehli angdaayi ho
simti si sharmaayi si
kis duniya se tum aayi ho
Maan stared at her in trance wondering how such a frail looking girl could have so much power to make the world stop. He saw her struggling and his instinct was to rush to her, cocooning her into his arms, protecting her from the world. As his hands touched the handle of his car door, she managed to reign in her umbrella and pulled her duppatta in place, revealing her rosy lips and flushed cheeks with water drops shining as pearls…a face which could make a man loose his sanity.
aankhen mili vaada hua
kuchh keh diya, kuchh sun liya
thehre kahaan betaab dil
kaise mile apna pata
zulfon ki badli jab chhaayi ho
simti si sharmaayi si
kis duniya se tum aayi ho
kaise jahaan mein samayega
kitna husn jo laayi ho
simti si sharmaayi si
kis duniya se tum aayi ho
He suddenly felt the gap increasing between her and him and his heart became restless as his car finally moved and turned making him loose his heavenly vision. He turned around frustratingly but words dried in his mouth as he saw himself in the rear view mirror.
"Have you gone mad Maan? NO…you are Maan Singh Khurana….MSK….not a fool to run after a pretty face senselessly. Yes she looked innocent standing there and struggling but she is a girl and MSK does not care or go after a mere chit of a girl. What the hell is wrong with him? Probably it has been long since he got laid and needs a diversion tonight."
With a set determination, he decided to get the control back in his life which may have slipped for just a moment.
