I keep seeing that threads are closed or whatever after it has reached 150 pages, but surely it can go more than that? Why only 150? 😕

The pages make the browser/server heavy. So, if the thread goes more than 150 pages which isn't a problem but it's to keep India-Forums server running without any crashing problems. 🤔

But if someone makes a part 2, the content will still be there, won't it?

In the new thread that you make, you can add the link to the first one.

But yes, the content will remain the same in the first thread, it will be closed though, so you won't be able to post in it at all or edit your posts either.

I didn't mean that. I know that the part 1 thread will be there. I meant that splitting thread to save storage/bandwidth of server is of no use, because the person will create a part 2 and storage/bandwidth will be required for the new thread.

^ True that, but you see the same thread that goes on for 150+ pages, needs more bandwidth because the member don't copy-paste the ENTIRE thing they had used in the first thread.

Also, thread 2 tends to divide the load on the server. See, for example; if we have the creations gallery that exceeds 150 pages, then the load on the server is far more heavy than another thread that is a fresh one to begin with. Get it? 🤔
