that if rk n madhu did not knock on the door padmini would have said to malik that madhu loves rk
also when rk was talking to Malik he referred to madhu by her name madhu, its only when madhu came out he referred to her as biwi, i am sure malik guessed that rk is in love with madhu as well

yes i noticed but malik response totally statue no feeling without expression. especially when he was going out side with knife and shouting with angerness that he want to kill rk and suddenly door knoced malik said ab kon a gia i laughted on this sentences after this he saw madhu and try to hide knife but no expressions.
