Hacker Attack....!! Be Careful!!

Question:

Somebody seems to be trying to hack my computer coz I've been recieving
warnings like this from Avast! Network Shield -
Network shield blocked DCOM exploit attack from IP xxx.xxx.xxx
What should I do? Is there a way I can communicate with the person? How can I permanently stop this guy from trying to connect to my computer?

--------- Many of us never install a firewall we feel its not required, but guys its the greatest ever risk u take with ur pc! Although Xp has a firewall, (u need Sp-2 installed for that) But windows firewall u know is just like Windows, falls down any time!!... and Windows 98,2000,Me... as far i know don't have firewalls from windows!!
Also when u run a program direct connect to the internet, like media player, winamp, etc, such software have their ports always open!!

So friend u r urself giving a invitation to the hacker to hack ur pc!
Do u know that maximum no.of hacking happens at lan level??? other users easily get access in ur pc, if its not firewalled!!
