Hai Devi Maiya! I'm a goner. I want this Arnav!!!
Please make her say yes!
I know there is a big fight coming, He is going to have to tell her about their families. And she will get hurt one more time! That he discussed without telling her first. Like the last time. So he broke her promise. I hope I'm wrong.
Everything about this epi was perfect! I really love the way he is so supportive of her in everything she does and how his love is so evident in his consideration of her (so unlike the reel thing!!!!)
Thanks for the PM.😃 Waiting for the next update.

Chapter 57

Khushi looked at Arnav and smiled dreamily as she looked back to the lake, 'wouldn't it be lovely to get married here in Kashmir?' she said wistfully not realising the true impact of her statement. Arnav slowly took a sip of his wine as he looked at her over the top of the glass. His dark eyes burned with a fire that made her heart race.

'Khushi, you know you just have to say the word and I'll make it happen...' he murmured silkily as he took another slow sip of his wine.

'So I suppose the real question then is... do you want to get married here in Kashmir... tomorrow?'

Khushi gasped very audibly while Arnav smiled at her and in that moment, time stood still as he awaited her answer.

Khushi almost choked on the water that she had just begun to sip as she blinked in stunned surprise. She was momentarily so astonished that she actually stopped breathing as all the air left her lungs in a big whooosh; but try as she might she couldn't seem to draw any air back in. He couldn't be serious! Oh come now Khushi, whispered an exasperated voice, do you really think that it's wise to question just how serious Arnav might be given his track record to date; he was not one to make casual suggestions without intending to deliver them. Khushi knew her inner voice was right as she watched Arnav who was staring at her point blank as he waited for her answer.

Arnav watched Khushi's hand tremble as she placed her glass back down on the table, the smooth skin of her long and slender neck moved as she gulped. Arnav had to give her credit where it was due; despite her clearly shocked and somewhat nervous state, Khushi hadn't averted her gaze and her eyes remained locked with his until the waiter discretely cleared his throat as he placed Arnav's coffee and Khushi's sevaiyyan on the table before them before making his quiet departure. Arnav picked up his coffee cup as he continued to stare at her, his curiosity about her answer increasing by the second; what would she decide?

It was time to turn on the heat Arnav decided as he concealed his naughty smile behind the coffee cup; the devil rubbed his hands in glee whilst the angel shook his head in disgust. 'Khushi, you haven't answered my question... you're not scared at you?' he drawled.

Wide brown eyes instantly snapped up as she glared at him, 'do I have any reason to be scared of you?' Khushi countered back.

Oh Miss Gupta, you have no idea what you just walked into, Arnav thought as he leaned back in his chair.

'I don't think you're scared of me as such Khushi... though you might get worried if you start thinking about what I'm going to do to you after we are officially married...' he said with a glint in his eyes as his eyebrow rose to emphasize his point.

Khushi's eyes widened and colour drained from her face, after last night, she had a very good of what he could do to her. She quickly averted her gaze as she looked down at her sevaiyyan and she wracked her brain for a witty retort. None came and she began to get redder with embarrassment.

Awww...now look what you've done, go on say something nice to make her feel better you big bully, urged the Angel.

'Ok ok Khushi...relax and have your dessert'he said with half a lopsided smile and a chuckle; despite his best efforts, he really couldn't bear to torture her. Arnav had to admit that despite her increasing comfort level with him particularly over the past few weeks and last night, Khushi's embarrassed reaction pleased the Neanderthal man in him giving him a kick that he could still evoke that response from her.

==================================

Khushi was very quiet through the remainder of their dinner and on the short walk back to their suite. His question kept reverberating through her mind: 'Do you want to get married here in Kashmir... tomorrow?' Arnav opened the door to their suite letting Khushi precede him into the room. He watched as she walked to the outdoor areas where the log fire was burning.

Khushi shivered slightly as the cold wind from the mountains enveloped her as she tried to warm her hands by the fire, the diamond on her finger flashing as the flames reflected in its surface. Her mind was buzzing. Had Arnav been serious? If yes, then what was her answer going to be? Did she...could she marry him so quickly? Was this because of last night and was Arnav hitting the limit with his frustrations? What about their families; surely they would want to be there with them both? Had he already pre-arranged a wedding like everything else on this trip and how was he so sure about her answers? Khushi groaned, why was he doing this to her today when her brain was already completely curdled after her crash course in business and to be honest she was desperately struggling to make a decision about the most monumental day of her life. Khushi drew in a breath to steady her nerves as she heard the French doors opening. He was on his way and she still didn't have an answer. Her heart beat increased with every single step Arnav took in her direction. She closed her eyes and waited listening to the click of his dress shoes on the wooden flooring.

Khushi felt Arnav's hand on her shoulder before she heard his low, husky voice, 'Khushi...it's freezing, come inside.'Khushi opened her eyes and looked up at Arnav. He had taken his bowtie off and was just wearing his black tux jacket and pants. The top two buttons of his snow white shirt were open given her a glimpse of the light sprinkling of hair on his broad chest. Light from the flickering fire illuminated his skin giving it a golden glow adding shadows and hollows to his sculpted profile, a few stray strands of hair had fallen across his forehead while stubble darkened his jaw making him look dark and dangerous in the firelight. She stared into his eyes - who said it was freezing out here, she wondered as she averted her eyes; now was not the time to get distracted by the man standing in front of her.

Despite the chill in the air, it was a beautiful clear Kashmiri night and the stars were plainly visible unlike in Delhi where they were blurred thanks to the permanent blanket of pollution over the city. Arnav draped the pure pashmina blanket he had brought over Khushi's shoulders as he sat down beside her. It was obvious what was bothering her and it was his fault for springing it on her but that didn't mean that the offer wasn't a genuine one. There was one only way to deal with this.

'Khushi... talk to me' he said plainly.

Khushi turned to him unsure of what she was supposed to say; she had many questions but had no clue of where to start.

Arnav could see turmoil in her eyes. Well given that he was the one who had dropped the bombshell on her, he decided that he should be the one to start the conversation. He took a deep breath.

'Khushi, I'm guessing that you're worrying about what I asked you earlier. It's ok Khushi... relax, I didn't...never mind...it was just something I said, you don't need to make a decision right now...forget about it.' Khushi's brown eyes widened and then narrowed. She sucked in a breath and felt her temper beginning to rise as she glared at him, her head swung around she interjected, 'You didn't what? You didn't mean it?'she said incredulously, her rising anger evident in her eyes, 'if that was your idea of a joke then it wasn't funny Arnav!' she snapped.

What the f*ck?!!! His hot temper instantly flared as Arnav turned to face Khushi 'of course I meant it Khushi!' he snapped as anger sharpened his features and narrowed his eyes, 'I've never made a joke about any part of our relationship and I'm not about to start now!' he said as his voice dropped to a deadly quiet pitch, 'you mentioned getting married here in Kashmir and I simply proposed the best suggestion about how to make it happen. At no point was that suggestion made loosely or without the intent to deliver,' he said in a low cold voice as he began rising.

Khushi grabbed his hand as Arnav stood up and turned around. Great, now she had gone and ruined the whole evening she thought as she groaned inwardly. She took a deep breath, 'I'm sorry Arnav, I shouldn't have snapped at you. Its...it's been a full on day today, well actually it's been a full on few days. We've gone from acknowledging our love to each other to telling our families about this relationship...to being engaged all in a matter of a few days. And now you casually ask if I want to get married you can make it happen tomorrow! Right now, I can't make head or tail of what to think let alone what to decide. I mean what about our families and the arrangements? My head is spinning Arnav!!!'she said breathlessly but absolutely truthfully.

Arnav sighed as he looked down into her eyes and then at his hand in hers before slowly sinking back onto the sofa. 'Khushi, I love you and you love me and despite its age, we have a very very strong relationship, actually I think it's fair to say what we have is what many dream of but will never have', he said as he squeezed her fingers, 'I know that this has happened very quickly, but Khushi that doesn't make the experience any less valid. Trust me. More importantly, trust yourself Khushi,' he said quietly as he looked deep into her eyes.

Khushi inhaled and exhaled deeply. Arnav was right she thought as she looked down at their intertwined hands resting on his muscular thigh. A shiver rippled through her.

Anticipation? Perhaps.

Fear? Definitely.

But it was fear of the question; certainly not fear of him.

Arnav watched Khushi closely as she processed his words. 'Khushi, like I said, we don't need to rush on this if you aren't ready,' he said quietly, 'anyway, from what Nandini tells me, AR Corp is receiving truckloads of letters from the female populace expressing their heart break about my no-longer single status. I'm sure if you decide you don't want to marry me, one of them will step up and sacrifice themselves for the cause,'he said with a very serious face as his eyes twinkled.

Another woman with her Arnav... never! Khushi turned to face Arnav and realised he was teasing from the tone of his voice. His playfulness gave her courage. 'In that case Arnav, you should see the letters I get from the male populace, both nationally and internationally, thanking me for keeping you away from women so that they too can have a chance with them,' she retorted just as seriously.

Arnav's jaw dropped open; the tigress was playing with him he thought as the uncontrollable urge to laugh overwhelmed him.'Come here you little minx' he growled as he pulled her into his arms and settled into a corner of the sofa.

Khushi smiled as Arnav pulled her against his body, settling her body snugly against his chest causing her to sigh at the warmth and heat. She felt extremely secure being enfolded so snugly against his maleness and she shivered not from the cold, but from equal parts of excitement, curiosity and apprehension.

'Ok Khushi...start talking. Why is your head spinning?' Arnav asked as Khushi tucked her head under his chin. 'I have lots of questions Arnav, I'm warning you in advance,' Khushi murmured. Arnav chuckled 'you always have lots of questions Khushi...tell me something I don't know!'

'Well first of all, how are you going to get a wedding arranged tomorrow?' she began as Arnav groaned, 'Khushi! The answer remains the same as earlier: its pretty simple actually, you say yes and I'll handle the rest.' ' Ok, ok' she said, 'how can we get married without the families? I mean they don't even know that you have asked me to marry you?' she asked. Khushi pulled back when Arnav didn't say anything 'Arnav?' Then it suddenly struck Khushi as his words on the plane came rushing back to her; everyone knows that I have you.Her eyes narrowed as her voice dropped a notch, 'they know don't they...why we're here...they know exactly why don't they?!' Her voice was calm, but Arnav caught the faint note of displeasure; here we go...five...four... three...two... one... 'Arnav...you better have a really really good explanation this time,' she warned as she glared at him.

Arnav sighed, 'I do Khushi, but you need to listen to the whole explanation before you start yelling at me,' he warned. Khushi's eyes narrowed 'I don't yell. Continue' she said as she pulled back and folded her arms across her chest. 'Khushi when I decided to bring you to Kashmir to propose marriage to you, I didn't imagine that I'd be marrying you this very weekend but now that you've suggested it; I like the idea so why wait? As for the logistics, there are plenty of people who can handle the arrangements and given that Delhi is less than an hour away by air, if you want the families here then that too will happen.'

Khushi's eyes narrowed, 'Arnav you haven't answered my question...actually hang on one second, you just said that you hadn't even thought of getting married so quickly - then why the rush?' she took a deep breath, 'is this about last night, I mean I can... I now can understand the frustration...is that what this is about?' she asked frankly. Arnav's eyebrow began rising slowly 'Khushi, I think we both know that last night was entirely about you. As far as I'm concerned, I think I've managed to keep myself in check quite well. I'm not denying that desire, lust or whatever else you want to call it is a part of our relationship just like trust, love, understanding are - its mutual and there's nothing to be embarrassed about. Khushi, let's be absolutely clear on this; me asking you to marry me tomorrow has nothing to do with sex.'

Khushi opened her mouth but was silenced as Arnav placed his finger against her lips, 'I'm not done yet Khushi, now I'll answer your original question. Yes, your babu-ji, Amma and my Nani know why we are here,' he said softly. In a very matter of fact voice, Arnav told her about Nani announcing her desire to go meet Khushi's parents, how he had he tried to call her and then about his visit to her house yesterday morning at Nani's insistence. He went on tell Khushi about Garima's concerns about their relationship and then how Shashi Gupta had taken their side and openly supported their relationship. Arnav told Khushi about the impact of her father's words on him, about the instant clarity and realization he felt about what he knew he wanted to do. 'Khushi, I've asked babu-ji for his permission to ask you to marry me before I asked you because that was the right thing to do. I stand by that decision and I will not apologise for that. I have Babu-ji's permission and your Amma's and Nani's blessing and that's why we are here' he said quietly, 'Now have I answered all your questions, or have I missed anything?' he asked.

Khushi straightened and stared at him. There were tears in her eyes and she impatiently brushed them away but more flowed. Arnav reached out and cupped her cheek, then used his thumb to wipe away her tears. Her skin was soft and damp as her tears glistened on her cheeks like tiny diamonds in the fire light. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close.

'I need you. I need you with me for every single day for the rest of our lives. I don't know what it is but I've never wanted anything as much as this which is quite unusual given that up until three days ago I didn't want or believe in marriage,' Arnav said with a wry smile.

Her chest ached, but not in a scary way. Instead it seemed that her heart was struggling to hold all her emotions. The world around them shrank until there was only her and him and Khushi wanted to capture this moment forever, to never forget the image of him in the moonlight or his words tonight. If truth be told, she wanted him more than ever. She had already given him her heart'now he was offering himself to her and all she had to do was claim him for life. As an orphan, Khushi had spent part of her life in the shadows not making waves, desperate for what she wanted, but sometimes afraid to step up and take it. Arnav had taught her that she needed to step up and claim what was hers; it was now time to claim Arnav Singh Raizada and make him hers.

Arnav stared at Khushi and she stared back, 'Khushi this is about you and me. Marry me...be my wife and make me your husband' he urged as he pulled her over him and kissed her neck and her throat. 'let's do this...say yes,' he whispered.

Love burned hot and bright in her eyes and Arnav knew instantly what her answer was going to be as he pulled her head down to his.

'Marry me Arnav Singh Raizada... marry me tomorrow...' Khushi whispered as she pressed her lips against his.

Yay!! I love weddings!!

Naina😳

...wonder what Arnav and Khushi will be doing after the wedding?

Naina!!!! šŸ¤—

No more 2in1s! Promise! My asli duniya kept me really busy over the last few weeks. 😳

Khushi really understands Aranv so well. Loved the description of her inner thoughts on the sudden marriage proposal. Also loved the way Arnav understood her & helped her to fight the turmoil.

Conversation! Conversation! This is one thing that can mend anything in relationship. I love you for using this properly in your story. They always talk and come out of everything. I just loved Khushi's reply to Arnav's quip on the letters from the female populace. That was bang on! Nothing to make him jealous but just fit enough to make her point!

Good to see Devil & Angel back! I told you naa, that the first time that "Khushi-ji" vs "Khushi ki Bacchi" happened in the serial, I thought of you? 😊 And then they showed it! Have they copied this from you and not credite??!! A friend whom I suggested your story just last week also told me that the scene reminded her of Master Class. 😊

Ohh! How I love my Neanderthal Man! As always, by the fire, that was a breathtaking description of my man! I could visualize him so well and then I melted!

Waiting for the next update is going to be torturous .. when can I expect chapter 58? Embarrassed I am really eager to see Anjali, Mamiji & Akash's reaction .. then the whole world, including AR! Going by your knack of details, I am happily looking forward to some amazingly picturesque chapters in the queue.

PS: Who does not love weddings?
