Part 10

The next day, Vishakha and Swayam met, as planned. Swayam said, "We'll have to be very careful. Shivam is the kind of bad guy who is very cautious."

"Are we any less cautious when it comes to pranks?" Vishakha replied back and winked. "We'll figure it out one way or another."

"It's not going to be that easy. We'll practically be walking into his territory. Anything can happen."

"We'll just have to take the chance… I'm ready to that chance… Are you?"

"Not one doubt." Swayam replied. Vishakha smiled. "Then today after college ends?" Swayam nodded and both walked into the college.

During lunch time, Sharon called Swayam. He was shocked. Before he could say 'hello' she started yelling at him. "What do you think of yourself huh? How dare you ignore me? Yesterday, you said we'll talk later. Don't you have the decency to call then? I have to do that too??!"

"Woah- Sharon, hold up. I've just been busy. You were the one who wanted to talk. You could have called me instead of yelling at me right now!"

"Yea… well I'm calling now. Where are you? I need to talk to you."

"We can talk over the phone too." Swayam suggested, not really wanting to meet Sharon. The kiss and the incident by the old staircase had torn him apart. He had decided to converse with her only when absolutely needed.

"No!" She replied instantly.

He asked, "No?"

"I mean it's something that can't be discussed over phone. Where can you meet me?"

"Everyone's in canteen right now. I'm still in the old computer class. Can you come there?"

"Uh…yea… 5 minutes." She replied before ending the call.

5 minutes later…

She walked in the class. An awkward silence prevailed. She looked everywhere but at him. And he was looking only at her, waiting for her to go on. She, on the other hand, was trying to figure out how to ask him.

He finally got up and spoke. "You do realize there is only fifteen minutes left before lunch time is over?"

She quickly glanced at her wrist watch, finding out that he was correct. She had to talk to him now, before it was too late.

"A-Are you- are you okay?" she asked with utmost hesitancy.

He was fumbled and out of words! That was the last thing he had expected her to say. Rather do… this was the last thing… the concern!

"Why would I not be?" he replied to her question with his own question.

"I mean after Kriya left… you must be really sad about it, right? You guys were really close after all."

"Hold on, what do you mean by 'close'?" he asked straight away, not wanting any misunderstandings.

"You know what I mean." She replied, looking right into his eyes.

He looked back and answered. "No. I don't." It was one stern reply. She couldn't make out his tone. He continued, "And who gave you the right to worry about me, huh? You were the one who said the book is better stayed closed, right? Why do you care then?"

"If it concerns my friend, then I do care." He gave a quizzical look on 'friend' and she clarified quickly. "Rey… he stays really depressed lately. I know you both are close friends and I also know you know something about this and I don't. You look a bit disturbed too. So I can't ask out of humanity?"

"You can ask if Rey is alright. However, you do not have the right to ask if I'm okay and connect that to Kriya. But, just so you're satisfied, I'll answer it. No. I'm not okay. The school is missing its AGS. Team Weakling is missing its leader and the strongest dancer. Friends are lonely and confused with this sudden disappearance. Someone has lost the love of their life. The person I care a lot about is missing. A dirty prank is being played with my friends' life. After all this, you expect me to be 'okay'?"

He was bursting out on her. She stayed silent all throughout. She didn't know what she had done to receive such spiteful words and his anger. It was the first time. Before, he had been mad at her. But at those times, she knew the reason 'why'. This time, she was clueless.

The words, 'lost the love of their life' ran back in her head. "You had me in the beginning but then you lost me. Can I know what exactly is going on?!! What have I possibly done that you're being so harsh to me!"

"It is because of your own insecurities. If, for once in life, you'll look past yourself and 'Sharon's world', then will be able to see what all is going on. If this is all you wanted to know, then I'm going. I don't have all day to spend after a girl who has a boyfriend."

He moved past her to walk away. Again, his words left a scar on her heart. The last sentence left her confused again. This time, she spoke up before he was completely out of range.

"Boyfriend? You mean to say I have a boyfriend."

He turned himself to look at her but kept the distance between them. "If, after kissing someone, the person is not your boyfriend, then I must have the wrong definition of the word. Please do explain it to me some other time."

And then it all made sense to her. She now understood what it was all about! She might have not seen it but it turns out that Swayam had seen it. And the misunderstanding had begun since then. Thus all the harsh words he kept on saying. Thus all the taunts he would pass her way. Why couldn't she see it before?

"If only you had stayed long enough to watch the rest." She said.

He scoffed. "You really think I would? You have hurt me enough Sharon. Not anymore. You wanted me to leave you alone and I am. What more do you want?"

She ignored his question. Instead, she asked, "Is that how you hurt your hand?" and moved up to him to touch it. He remembered how that had happened. Anger rushing back to him, he pulled his hand out of her hold. The jerk left her speechless.

Indeed that was how he was hurt. She felt really bad; guilty even. Before, she knew she had caused him emotional pain. Those times, she knew he would overcome them being the strong person he was who believed at looking on the positive aspect of life. This time, she had given him a scar he wouldn't forget. The scar on his heart and on his hand would never go away, no matter what she would do.

She held herself responsible. When she had nothing else to say, he turned once again to leave. She called him out. "Swayam?" He stopped but did not turn around.

"If it helps… nothing happened between Shivam and me that night. You might have seen us close but I left. There is only one person in this world that will have the right to kiss me. And that person is not him."

He stood there rooted to the ground. Hundreds of emotions rushed into him. Surprised. Mesmerized. Shaken. Hopeful. Guilty. What more? It was all there. What was he supposed to say?

He conversed with her silently, letting his eyes do the talking.

I made the biggest mistake by believing this. I always respected you. That time, I don't know what happened to me. I guess seeing you close to someone else just turned me off.

She replied, almost a tear in her eye, continuing the silent conversation.

I thought you knew me the most. I thought you understood me in a way no one else ever did or could. Then how can you? Out of all people?

She passed by him, hurt and disappointed. She had gone to meet him because she was concerned about him and Rey. Now, she didn't remember that reason at all. She was simply disturbed by this revelation.
